The way to the Sheriffs office was eerily silent and deserted. The heavy rainfall on this day kept most citizens off the streets and made traversing Piltover difficult. The meeting fresh in his mind, what his options were..how there was no way out of this. He was going to do the impossible, killing a friend who has done nothing but good for him. That insidious bitch, giving him devious choices..she...she... The thunder interrupted his thought.
He arrived at the front of the Police Station, thunder and lightning giving the night a lonely appearance. The rain was always depressing..even more so tonight. He reached for the handle and turned the knob. Locked. Cait always works late...she is here. He stepped back and kicked the door open, the thunder surprisingly booming and drowning out the sound. "What luck..",graves thought.
He made his way through the office slowly, looking at all the papers and job boards. Finally arriving at caits office he peered in, seeing her working at her desk. He took a breath. Forgive me.. And he kicked the door in. Pumped Destiny and aimed at Caitlyn. The thunder boomed.
But...he hesitated and did not pull the trigger.
Two friends would dual on this stormy night, one would come out victorious...but broken... In the lonely rain.

Caitlyn's head was on her desk, her hat obscuring her vision. At the sound of the door snapping open, she moved. Her hat was slapped to the ground, the sheriff's hand was already on a revolver and aimed at Graves in a knee-jerk reaction. Her rifle hung on the wall behind her. The hammer was cocked back, aimed at the center of Graves' chest when she lazily squinted her eyes. Caitlyn shook her head, blinking repeatedly. Dark rings circled her eyes, showing that she was quite tired, and from the state she was in, she had been asleep.
"Mm...Graves?" She shook her head once more and clicked the hammer back into place before putting the revolver onto the table. "Sorry, you caught me during a little catnap, luv."
The sheriff wiped at her face tiredly, squinting in the darkness. "I haven't had much sleep in the past week. Why'd you burst in like that? You sounded like a bloody murderer, I was all ready to shoot you. Tea or coffee before you explain why you think such a joke is hilarious?"
Caitlyn slid off her seat, not quite reaching for her rifle. She was still waking up and now kneeling over and grabbing her fallen hat off of the floor.

Graves stood silently in the doorway, Destiny still aimed directly at her. In the candlelight she could see his hand on the trigger was shaking, being a sheriff she would of seen this scene many times...a man contemplating pulling the trigger. His face looked like he just lost a good friend, he did not even wipe the rain away.
Graves had many thoughts racing through his head. Pull the trigger...no.no. Cant do that to cait..PULL THAT TRIGGER COWARD. NO. But the arm...
The thunder boomed.
Graves had not moved or said a word, he just stood there. Shaking like he was cold.. The only fight happening now..was with himself. Cait could take advantage of his hesitation while she had the chance.

"Graves, luv? Have a seat." Caitlyn motioned to him towards a chair. "You and I both know you're a killer, not a murderer. There's a fine line between the two. I would know, you and I have both killed, we're really not that different, luv. I know you will not pull that trigger, it's not who you are to kill someone in cold blood."
She placed her hat on top of her head and stood back up, dusting her skirt off. The sheriff looked over at Graves, and shook her head. She was speaking in a very calm and collected tone for someone in her position, "You don't need to do what you're thinking of doing, Malcolm, and you don't want to or else we wouldn't be talking. We both know that. Put the gun down. You haven't done anything yet save for breaking my door, for which I will have to charge you a few coins for." Caitlyn lightly laughed at this little joke, trying to ease the tension in the room.
If she dove, she would be able to get her rifle, but otherwise she seemed to be completely unarmed. This would be a dangerous assumption with the sheriff of Piltover. But for now, Caitlyn was playing a dangerous game now, she was trying to disarm him with her words. She took a step towards her desk, the revolver resting on the wood and pointing at Graves. Her foot would stop near the foot of one of the desk's legs, she continued to make eye contact with him.

Graves listened to Cait speak. No...he does-int want to. Graves started to lower his gun but locked his eyes on right arm. It must go instead. But...just pull the trigger. Nobody would even know...No. Graves reached out the hand on the trigger and pulled the chair back to the door then griped the trigger again. He though about her words....SHOOT HER COWARD. "Drop the gun, Malcolm" Yes...drop it.
The thunder boomed.
He sat down in the chair, and just...dropped destiny to the ground, something cait knows he would never want to do. He just wnated the gun out of his hands, he slid it over to Cait with his foot. He just eyed at his right arm now. He must cut it off instead, he cant kill a friend. Making a deal with the devil will only just hurt him...not anyone else.
"Jus' in case." He said silently, his eyes fixated on his arm. "I...need your help Caitlyn" He said quietly and without a hint of happiness.
The Thunder boomed.
Graves removed his glove and rolled up the sleeve on his right arm. Next he removed the cape and set it on his lap.

Caitlyn nodded and picked Destiny off of the ground. She placed it onto her lap while she stared at Graves, studying him. Without taking her eyes off of him, Caitlyn reached over and grabbed her revolver, opened the chamber up and emptied the bullets onto face of the desk. She quietly placed it back where it had rested before.
"Malcolm. Look at me. Tell me why, what is going on?"

Graves looked at her when she asked. "I can't tell you" He said it in such a way that it was not like he did not want to tell her...he just could not. " It would not end well." He then turned back to his arm and pulled the knife out of his pocket, setting it on his lap. He rewraped cloth to stop blood flow somewhat. He could not bring himself to do it.
" I need you....to cut my arm off." He looked at her. His expression was stern, it was not a joke or jest. " We can move into the rain."

"...Oh Graves..." Caitlyn shook her head, her tone low, sad. "What have you done?"
She got out of her seat and picked up Destiny. Caitlyn slung the strap over her shoulder and grabbed his injured arm. "I am not going to cut your arm off, you ninny." She gave a half-hearted grin at the outlaw, "You wouldn't be able to hold your gun or knit, imagine how many sad housewives there will be when they don't get your shipment of top quality scarfs?"
The sheriff gave a light laugh at her ridiculous joke, and shook her head once more. "...There is always another option, Malcolm. There's something that has you pegged, there are loopholes to everything." Caitlyn patted his hand in an attempt to reassure him and to convince him not to cut of his arm. "Let's get you bandaged, and then figure out how to get you out of this mess, alright? You should have come to me first, luv. I would have helped."

The moment Caitlyn tapped Graves' hand, he would see magical energy spark from the Sigil of Silence. It leaped off his hand and struck Caitlyn's hand. Instead of making a mark on just her hand though, it snaked and winded up her arm and spread across her entire body. Dozens of Sigils now decorated Caitlyn's body, all pulsating with energy. If the situation was not as serious as Graves knew, he may laugh at the fact that she looked like Ryze.
Although much to the surprise of the Outlaw, she would not see the magical Sigils as they disappeared from sight, still etched on her. The most the sheriff of Piltover would feel would be something akin to a static shock, nothing overly worrying. She would see no sigil nor rune or anything off putting whatsoever.
LeBlanc's words would drift through Graves' ears in memory, Give me your right arm...or bring me the head of Caitlyn.
Upon the utterance of Caitlyn's offer, LeBlanc's voice now quite clearly in his head, though Caitlyn would not hear it.
"What did I tell you, Graves? Did you really think I would give you a choice? What should have tipped you off was the fact that I wanted the Sheriff of Piltover dead. Not a random target, but someone very influential, and now, I have killed two birds with one stone. Now, I have your right arm as mine and I can kill her at my leisure with none the wiser! I dictate your aim, I dictate who you kill, who you hunt, how you breath, or she dies a burning, screaming inferno of a death. Spontaneous combustion, a rare phenomenon but a recorded one, and she would suffer it the moment you warn her, with all of our previously spoken of conditions tacked on for extra sweetening. The difference is that I would make it last far, far longer than it would take to kill someone by burning them to death. Just like everything else in your life, if only you took personal responsibility, you wouldn't hurt others so much, hm? Poor Graves, it's like what your friend Fate says: The house always wins. Take the time now that the deal is sealed. All I will need is a verbal agreement in our time frame. No sooner, no later, than the allotted time, remember. I want you to bask, and realize the full extent of your actions. Tah tah dear, and remember when you are walking here..."
Graves would feel the faintest of kisses placed on his cheek, as though LeBlanc was actually there in person.
"How lonely it is to do so in the rain."

Graves saw the symbols. Heard her words. Felt the kiss upon his cheek. And he still could not believe he had been played again. He would need to find a way to get rid of the magic upon her. But first...the arm. There was no other way now. His face was one of shock, it appeared as if he heard a ghost.
" Cait...am sorry. I screwed up this time." He had stopped looking at her. He got up and pushed her back. " There is something i must do, it now involves more than me at stake....i fucked up. If nothing happens..i will be back ta' make it right." He took Destiny from her quickly so she could not protest, not even waiting for a response. He left quickly, not saying another word. Everybody he has ever been close too... Graves burst out the front door and disappeared into the rain to stop cait from following him. He ran far away from the station off into the rain. He thought about how he had been left in Bilgewater. Had he has been double-crossed by those he called friends. How he has hurt those he loved more than he liked. He was only good to himself. It came crashing down on him like the rain, and he fell to his knees. He was a broken man.
The thunder boomed.
The rain mixed with tears...and he cried. For everything he has done and what other had done to him.
Cried in the rain.

Caitlyn blinked, surprised at how Graves was reacting. The moment he started to leave the room, she barked at him, "You're not leaving this room, Graves! We're talking whether you like it or not!"
By the time she took a step forward, he was out the door. She hissed out, "Damn it! I'll lose him in the rain!" The sheriff grabbed her rifle off her wall, and ran after him. Her heels clicked on the ground, she stumbled a bit because she was actually very exhausted from her week and the little sleep she had gotten.
Caitlyn burst out of the Police Department's front doors, rifle up and scanning the scene before her. Her hextech rifle had several lenses readied in her scope, one of them was nightvision. With a flick of her finger, she attempted to look for where Graves had gone, and despite the heavy rainfall, she would catch the faintest trace of his figure. A crack of lightning struck somewhere nearby, flashing up in her scope, making her yank it away from her face.
"GAH!"
Caitlyn rose her scope back up to her face, looking for Graves again. He had disappeared. She tried running in the direction he had gone, her entire being soaked from the torrent that billowed from the dark sky. She gave up in minutes once she had effectively gotten herself lost. To navigate Piltover for a single man was nearly impossible in the rain, while she was in such a tired condition, and with one eye blinking wildly from the bolt of lightning.
"Damn it Malcolm..." Caitlyn shook her head and started her slow walk back towards the police station. "I would have helped..."
And so she walked back quietly, hat tipped down in front of her face in her meager attempts to cover up the thunderous pitter patter of the falling rain.
