Yoshi opened the door to his house after shopping and hauling the new clothes he bought for Teo. The simple shirts, shorts and pants tucked themselves in the massive shopping bag with the green hooded vest on the top. He opened the door for Teo to come in first, then closed it once the little maestro scurried inside.
The entire house is simple enough for a yordle to be comfy in his surroundings while being frugal with their own cash. Yoshi hoped to make it into a second (and better) home for Teo.
But something disturbed Yoshi's natural environment. His face tilted upward as his nose picked up a putrid scent of the outside, as if he's literally in a forest.
Well duh... As he turned around, he noticed that Teo wore that same ragged clothes since he found him at that forest. The stench must go. Teo needed to be clean and good anyways.
"Umm... Teo," said Yoshi as he turned around to face Teo. "Have you cleaned yourself before?"
The younger yordle steps to the side when he enters the house, not moving any further while he takes in his surroundings in a timid manner. When Yoshi speaks, Teo blinks, raising an eyebrow as if the question were fairly ridiculous. Of course, it may be somewhat understandable based on his smelled compared to the house. He doesn't think he smells too bad, but the home smells very fresh and clean, as though it were brand new. To Teo, at least.
"O-of course! I would go down to the river every other day to wash off and wash out my clothes. Sometimes more, if I got too dirty on one day... W-why?"
No no no no! Yoshi rejected in thought as he placed his hands behind his head.
At first, he thought of forcing Teo to bathe. However, Yoshi figured out that Teo may not know much about the 'normal' things in Bandle City. He continually paced back and forth while trying to bear the wretched odor. Normal living things like soap and chairs may or may not be alien to the little yordle. But one thing is certain: Yoshi must take care of him. It's bad enough that the little maestro stank his clean home but sending him back to the forest equaled condemning him.
"Okay... so..." Yoshi spoke as he gathered his thoughts into words.
"Going down to the river is good... by your standard. But here in Bandle, it's not good. So in order to do that, I'm... I'm getting you cleaned!" declared Yoshi as his hands rested on his hip.
Teo blinks a few times, tilting his head and raising a brow. He wasn't sure what the big fuss was about. "You mean... a bath, right? I haven't taken a bath since I was in the orphanage. A-are you sure it's alright?"
He shifts in his seat a little, then gets to his feet. The furniture is nice and clean, and sitting on it too long in his dirty clothing might leave stains. The idea of a bath and new, clean clothes was sounding more comforting by the second, though he still doesn't want to let go of the only childhood memories he has.
"Yes!" Yoshi declared happily. "You'll feel better much cleaner. Now head off to the bathroom and take off your clothes," said Yoshi after he left the room to gather his newer and cleaner clothes.
As he showed confidence and optimism towards Teo, inside he doubted on the fact that he can take care of him. He's not thrilled in scrubbing the little yordle clean, even if he's old enough.
Teo gives a short nod, furrowing his brow. "Uh... okay." His new master's logic makes sense, and he'd probably only have to be out of his normal clothes until they're cleaned again. Right?
The young yordle makes no objections and quickly moves to where he assumes the bathroom is located. Nope, it's the bedroom. The next door down gives him relief as he steps into a small, but still homey bathroom. He closes the door behind himself, but doesn't bother locking it, immediately pulling off his ragged shirt and dropping it to the floor, then pausing to lift his pendant from his chest and rub it between his fingers. Not once had he removed it since it was given to him, not even for bathing.
Let's see... what do I need here... pondered Yoshi as he planned out the materials needed for a bath.
Yoshi assorted every material needed for the bath. He rushed into the bedroom to separate Teo's shirt, pants and underwear from the pile of clothes the older maestro bought for him. Then he entered into his personal bathroom to gather a bottle of shampoo and a bar of soap resting on the tub rim. He paused after counting the things needed and looked around his own bathroom to make sure that he never missed anything that would force him to run back. Satisfied, he arrived at the other bathroom where Teo is.
"Okay Teo," said Yoshi as he turned the faucet on. A steady stream of warm water splashes down on the tub. "Let's get you- oh right! Towels! That's what I forgot." He exits the room but not before turning around to tell Teo to step into the water.
Teo jumps a little when Yoshi enters to room, quickly finishing his undressing. He hopes that the older yordle isn't upset that he hadn't finished. When told to get in the tub, he gives a small nod in the direction of the closing door and moves towards the tub. It's much more lavish than the one he remembers from the orphanage, even if it's still very basic by most standards.
He dips a finger into the water to test for temperature first, quickly pulling away in surprise. The water is much warmer than he'd been expecting. Cautiously he lifts a leg over the ledge and slowly lowers it into the tub, being careful not to slip and fall. Eventually he gets both legs into the water and sits down with a sigh, finding the warm water very calming. The young yordle closes his eyes and smiles a little, his pendant hovering on the water's surface in front of him.
Yoshi entered the room carrying a pile of towels with a scrub brush resting on top. Now is the time to give him a bath, like a father would do for a young child. However as he placed the towels on the counter, he's slightly regretting that he has to do the dirty work. Maybe for humor's sake, Yoshi could have told Teo to go bathe himself in the river. But a clean Teo is what he wants right now. Yoshi rolled up his sleeves, prepared his scrub brush, and knelt beside Teo.
"Okay. Umm... let's get you soaking wet first," spoke Yoshi as he aggressively splashed water onto Teo's face. Then with a bucket, he scooped up a ton of water and pours a large amount down onto Teo's head. He planned on repeating the pouring till the fur is completely soaked, depending if Teo's fine with it.
Luckily, Teo doesn't gasp from the first splashes, only scrunching his nose and immediately squinting his eyes shut. He doesn't resist the first pour of the bucket either, but then he opens his mouth to speak faintly. "Uh..." His voice is cut off by another pour of water, then once more. He lifts a hand to Yoshi's wrist before he can pour the bucket again, his brow furrowed and eyes only open a crack. "Y-...master, wait."
Yoshi prepared to dump water on Teo again when Teo called out to wait. He let go of the bucket while it floats on top of the tub. His clothes hadn't been wet after several dumpings... yet.
"Yes, what is it Teo?" questioned the older maestro.
Teo blushes a little, his eyes shifting to the right a little. He's embarrassed that Yoshi is doing all of the work for him. "You... I know how to pour my own water. You don't have to do it if you don't want to."
While he waits for the other yordle's response, he wraps his arms around himself and eases into the water a little more, still enjoying the warmth all around him, feeling his pores clearing out and each inch of his body soaking in the fresh, warm water.
"Hmm... alright," he nodded, agreeing to leave Teo to his peace. Yoshi stood up to obtain the shampoo, then poured it over Teo's head. He spread out the shampoo all over the fur that isn't submerged in water. Maybe he's underestimating what Teo knows. It's not like he was never born in society at all.
"I'll just clean your head while you rub the shampoo all over yourself. Even the legs and back. And make sure that you rub it all over. Your fur likes to be clean."
Teo gives a gentle nod and starts to spread the shampoo from his shoulders to his chest. It's been a few years since he'd last used the substance, but the general process isn't unfamiliar to him. Soon he starts to stand up in order to further lather the shampoo into his fur, though the water is deep enough to come up to his thighs. Once he reaches that point he pauses, standing straight again. Something had been bothering him a little while he'd been working the shampoo into his fur.
"B...back at the orphanage, we used to take baths in pairs. It helped for us to wash each other's backs, and... I think it saved water too. Erm...c...c-could you wash my back for me, master?"
"Uh..." Yoshi hesitated for a moment before giving in to Teo's request. "Yes. I'll do that."
He thought of using the scrub brush he brought for Teo to use. But something in his mind decided to scratch Teo's back with his own hands.
"Just sit down Teo and I can reach the back easily," said Yoshi as he pushed Teo down to sit on the tub. He leaned Teo so that the back shows up easier and scrubs the entire fur with the shampoo.
