Hi, everyone.
It's hard to believe that more than a year ago I visited the OF, shook my head and decided I wanted more. I set out to create a writing outlet for people who wanted to go beyond the superficial, a safe-haven community to foster creativity and encourage quality in storycraft. The goal behind Maelstrom was to bring together likeminded writers and artists for whom excellence was important--people who enjoyed development and lore-diving as much as they did goofing off together--and build a place where we could improve and explore our craft. I'm proud to say I think we've done that, so congratulations. Each and every one of you is special. :]
For me, MS' early months were a lot like first-time parenthood. I constantly had the computer by my side. I never let her out of my sight. I stayed up quite literally for days on end to get her through her struggles. It was a crazy hectic time in my life, and I'm glad to have had the experience of her launch--but I've come to a point in my life where I can no longer sustain that kind of vigilance and devotion. Don't panic! This does not mean I'm going anywhere, but after some careful conference with my wonderful fellow admins, I have come to the realization that some change is in order.
Henceforth, I will be stepping down as "Head Admin" and moving into the role of Creative Director. As we move forward into the new year, our administrative hierarchy will look less like a monarch with two advisors and more like a balanced council, where each member presides over a specific domain.
Mine will be our story. Please feel free to contact me for plot discussion.
I will no longer involve myself in dispute resolution. I will no longer be the sole presider over executive decisions. Remember, your questions or comments should go to your board leader first--and thereafter to the appropriate admin. We're always glad to hear from you, but due to the volume of membership on MS (who knew it would grow so much!) it's important for us to delegate responsibilities and work together as a team to keep this place flourishing.
Here, I would like to give my SINCEREST thanks to Anivia, Ashe, Victus, Board Leaders and the OC Council for keeping MS running smoothly in my absence. I can't wait to get back in the swing of things. My new role as creative admin frees me up to write, which is what I founded this place to do in the first place.
