The afternoon had proven itself uneventful, at best. All seemed apathetic and nondescript, almost boring in its plainness. Plain and uneventful was easily welcomed, however, to one whose nerves were tempered to always be on edge. The road ahead being a calm and plain one was almost always preferable to one which granted the one who walked it not a moment's respite and demanded a constant state of alertness. In the distance far ahead loomed the monstrosity of a mountain that Leona knew as home. It would yet be a day's walk to reach, even at her normal accelerated pace.
The familiar clattering of armor was mostly gone. Leona had chosen to wear her armor on her upper body alone, as would be better suited to travelling. Summons to the Institute of War were rare in current times, and it allowed Leona to spend more time comfortable on Mount Targon, but she would always respond to her summons, even if done reluctantly. In addition to her normal weight of equipment that some might have deemed excessive, at three weapons, two swords and a dagger, she bore several pouches and a pack to carry supplies for the journey. She needed little, and only carried what she needed.
She allowed her thoughts to wander for some time, as such an uneventful journey allowed for it, although she never so much as strayed close to obliviousness. The road was forested on only one side, making scanning the terrain half as difficult, and few walked it, although the path was worn from many travelers over the time of its existence. Leona's hand rested idly on the hilt of her sword, sheathed in the scabbard on the left of her waist, not in a position that would allow her to easily draw, but one that let her be comfortable. Leona hoped that her journey would continue to remain uneventful for its remaining hours.

Seldom to Leona's path of choice, it would become clear that the sun warrior's day would definitely become very eventful in the next few hours. Little did she know that not only did she get a summon, but Diana herself did as well. At the same time, by the very same group of summoners who literally wished to see the two women clash, or at least come to a disagreement down the line... but little did they know that only one would truly care to go by the end of the evening. Diana had a long day & night, and simply received a message for a so-called "Mandatory" summoning by whomever sent from the Institute, and would simply begin her journey whenever she awoke the next day.
Diana simply walked among the winding path of the forested side, rather than the open area that granted much vision to her right side. She was also in deep thought about the events that transpired in Demacia, along with the progress of Zaun & Noxus' assistance with the Lunari. She, fully armored, with only a knapsack and her blade continued her light stroll down the path, and soon Leona herself would catch a glimpse of the Lunar warrior walking ahead of her. It would be easy to see that Diana's walk was rather sluggish, even though she was always on guard, it was clear that her thoughts would keep her from noticing Leona's accelerated walking, even with her armor own light clanking that would normally bring attention.

It was clear there was something in the woods, but who or what exactly was uncertain. Leona cautiously and painstakingly kept watch on the figure. More details came into view the closer they became. First, that the figure was human. Then, the glint of light on steel revealed that the figure was wearing armor. They were not so very far apart by the time Leona could tell that the figure was a woman, and in an instant, she knew who it was.
Leona's right hand instinctively shot for the left side of her waist, where it met the familiar grip of her sword, and tightened around it. In fractions of a second, It had already quietly cleared several centimeters of the scabbard before Leona stopped herself. She had not yet noticed her. Her steps were sluggish, and her mind appeared to be elsewhere. If Leona could avoid a confrontation with her, then she would. She moved off the road to the plain, where she took cover in shrubbery, her hand still firmly gripping her sword.
Conditions did not favor her. The sun's setting light shined brilliantly off of her armor, and the shrubs did little to stop it. She silently cursed her luck, faced with combat lacking a fourth of her armor and shield, and forced to try and hide in light brush while sunlight made her painfully obvious. She did what she could to block the light from shining from her armor, and remained still in the shrubs, hoping that Diana would pass her by.
All the background noise of the birds, the wind, the animals of the forest seemed to have died out. The slightest noise was agonizing, like a nail being slowly driven through the eye. Leona's own tensed breaths were like screams of a banshee to her ears, the rustle of shrubbery with the rare gust of wind like a stab of a knife. She could not so much as twitch, lest her armor give off a horrid screech, or her foot set off an avalanche. All she could do was remain still. Remain still and hope that her sword would not see blood that day.

Diana's walk in front of Leona surely was one to task the Sun Avatar's mind, as the Lunar Avatar's own sluggish walking and now frequent stops to put things together silently, still in thought, would have to anyone who would by chance see Diana in such a way. Being deep in thought, however, made the Lunar warrior finally notice the sunlight's glint in her peripheral vision, though knowing that the sun was indeed in that direction, her gaze didn't move any further since her own was to be based upon her own deity that would rise in the opposing direction for now.
It was indeed growing further into the evening, the sounds of birds and creatures of the forested & plain paths were dying down, along with the simple noises that were slowly but surely soon growing to the silence that followed. Only the slight breeze of the wind, and Diana's own footsteps could be heard from the woman...until she heard a light clang of armor from behind, perhaps a little within the distance as she herself would turn and face the general direction with a brow raised, breaking the small opening Leona would ever have of continuously hiding her presence within the shrubbery.
"Perhaps it was another moving down the path behind, perhaps it was an enemy, hiding... perhaps it was something that shouldn't be bothered..." She thought, but Diana would stare into the area's behind her for several minutes, looking for its source or owner, keeping a blind eye to the sun to her west.

Leona scowled as the situation grew more foul by the second. Diana had left her trance like walking state and was clearly alerted by something. Leona again cursed the horrid conditions in which she had to hide. She watched Diana like a hawk, carefully taking note of every single motion, even if it was but as much as a twitch. Her sword had already been drawn several centimeters out of its scabbard, ready to be quickly drawn out if the situation unfolded in the manner expected.
In spite of the ever worsening situation, Leona's outward appearance did not change at all. Outwardly, though, her sweaty palms under her gauntlets could not be seen, her tensed, careful breath could not be heard, and dilated pupils were indiscernible. If all was to go to worst, it would be soon. Her helmet still rested securely on her head, and her blade had not escaped her iron grip. She would be ready.

It would be when Diana finally turns towards the burning gaze of the deity she had abandoned, and otherwise scrutinized for believing and thinking of another would she catch sight of Leona, hiding in literal plain sight from behind the shrubbery. She could see that the woman was tensed up and hiding, probably not prepared for an encounter... as otherwise Leona wouldn't ever take such a position without being hindered in some way or form. She knew the woman well, and thought that she was already prepared to strike with whatever weapon she herself could not see from the shrubbery.
"You can come out, Leona. You're as bright as the deity you hail behind you, and hiding does not suit you in the slightest." Diana said rather coldly, and loud enough to alert anyone else of their encounter in the area.
Diana was in no mood to go to blows with the woman, regardless of the situation, even if she really wanted to... today was not the day.

For what she was expecting, the result was enormously anticlimactic. No flash of silver as she called upon the Moon's power, and no rasp of steel as she drew her blade. She simply stood there. She had seen her, of course, but she did not show any immediate hostility. It eased Leona's nerves slightly, but she would have greatly preferred to remain hidden. Leona did not relax her grip on her blade, but now it seemed the weapons the two would spar with for the time being would be words. "I have no wish to fight you. Pass by and I shall leave you be." Diana had not yet attempted to draw blood, and so, perhaps, she might simply continue on her journey and leave Leona to hers. It was worth an attempt, at the least.

Diana gazed upon the Sun Warrior still hidden amongst the small bit of shrubbery, and seemed to refuse to come out; Even after asked in the nicest way Diana could think of, even if it would normally come off insulting.
"We are on the same path, are we not? There is no simple way of passing by, especially right now when I know you are in the area." Diana said, folding her arms as her gaze grew colder, but then instead chose to shield her eyes from both the reflection of the Sun & Leona's armor's glint with one hand, as the other hand remained free, easily to grasp her own blade if needed.
"Now come out from that shrubbery, as I said before, you look like an idiot trying to hide in plain sight..."
The Lunar warrior waited, and continued to now think of Leona's words. They both didn't want trouble... and it was clear that neither wished to fight unless absolutely necessary.

Leona eased her death grip on her sword. Diana seemed to be as unwilling to fight as she. However, she did not seem to be content to simply pass her by. For what purpose? Leona had already considered that several of her acolytes might be nearby, waiting to strike, but she would have already noticed them by now. She did not seem to have any violent intentions. Perhaps she wished to speak with her? "If you wish to speak with me, I am listening." Leona said, rising to her full height and taking a few steps out into the open. She did not move her hand away from her sword, but if Diana seemed peaceful enough, she would do so.

A light simple breeze flew through the area, but all was still for the Lunar warrior as Leona had made her statement, and finally released her death-grip upon her blade...if not only for a bit. Diana too, though she had never motioned towards her own blade, kept it's presence known within her mind before it dulled away. It truly had been nearly a year and a half since she had last seen Leona, regardless of on the fields before they shut down, or even news of the Solari being spread.
"So she is very much unprepared for confrontation as I... armored or not, today's not a good day." Diana thought, as she stared down the Solari's leader, continuing to eye the blade she continued to have a grip on, which would normally make the Lunar warrior herself even more cautious.
"I'm assuming you're on the way to the Institute, and didn't wish to strain yourself by teleporting there? Or were you following me?" Diana asked, cutting straight to the point, since it was clear that this confrontation could have been avoided as well.

The breeze did not scream in her ears any longer. It was pleasant, actually, save for the few strands of hair that found their way in front of her eyes. With her free armored hand, she brushed the strands out of her vision, still keeping her gaze fixed on Diana. The tension of the situation had eased, and for that, she was glad. Her hand slowly slipped off her sword and assumed a place by her side, but still ever ready to draw her blade should it suddenly prove needed. She hoped it would not. "I am walking home." she replied, in simple, quick, Rakkor fashion. Diana seemed to have her suspicions, as well. She was interested to know her theory behind them meeting, but suspected it would be the same as the many scenarios she had run through in her mind. Ambush, intentional confrontation, and similar situations with hostile intent, but perhaps it was something different entirely? Leona awaited Diana's follow up.

Diana watched Leona as she finally released her blade, and again, put the Lunar warrior more at ease, though her outward appearance remained otherwise. She would blink and furrow a brow when Leona made her quick statement, how she hid away from the Lunar warrior was one thing, but not seeing her walking down the path before her? Something was up.
"It does not matter where you are walking, Leona. If you are going home, then why hide? The sun itself doesn't hide itself from anyone else, yet why do you choose to hide from me? Afraid?
She'll point towards the massive peak of Targon that loomed behind their path, clear both would be able to see through the plains on the right-hand side of the trail. So, Diana folds her arms as shakes her head before speaking once again. There was to be no round-a-bout speech, Diana would be straight to the point.
And why are you coming from the Institute? I thought you gave up on the place, when it fell years ago. Were you called in by summoners who wished to bask in your false light, or is it, that you have nothing to do on Targon...?
