After a long trip back to the Institute from Ionia, Riven found herself doing something she rarely did. She found herself curled up with a few pillows, blankets, and laying on a soft, warm mattress. She rarely made use of her complimentary League quarters, or slept in, but after everything that had happened, she needed this. She dragged herself off the bed and stretched. Just because today was a day of rest didn't mean she wouldn't at least go through her morning stretches...
After she'd gotten herself dressed, she made her way out into the grounds of the Institute, looking for some breakfast. Her nose lead her to the cafeteria where eggs, bacon, sausage, and a host of other breakfast foods were being served, all hot and kept fresh by magical enchantments to the serving trays. She piled a plate high with large portions of several different things, much to the amazement of the staff, and then walked out of the cafeteria to a quiet, secluded spot on the grounds near a large tree.
There, she'd eat her meal in silence. After some recuperation at the Institute, she'd have to start working toward the next steps of her plan...

Kayle stood off in the distance, not far from the tree Riven was eating under. Dressed in her golden armor, as always, minus her helmet. The angel warrior stood like a statue, her sword stabbed into the ground in front of her, her hands resting on the bottom of it. Her wings were tucked neatly against her back, the feathers blowing slightly against the wind, a long with her golden locks.
Her gaze was down cast, her face expressionless, it seemed that she was in deep thought. Finally, after what seemed like ages, Kayle's head finally moved, looking off to the side and glancing at Riven. However, her attention was pulled away from the Exile as a female summoner walked over to her and handed her a plate of food. Kayle seemed to refuse it, but the summoner clearly wasn't taking no for an answer and Kayle finally took the plate.
Kayle looked down at the food in her hand sighed as the summoner walked away. She took the other hand off of her blade and began to nibble on some bacon.
Riven took note of the Judicator, but did not engage. She had no business with her. She knew the angelic creature resided at the Institute when she was not speaking to others in Demacia or some such thing. A noble pillar of otherworldly strength and justice was something with whom Riven didn't particularly need to speak.
Riven had no ill will toward Kayle. She was a soldier, like herself. She fought for a cause, like herself. She was considered one of the strongest among her people, previously like herself. Despite their sizable height difference, taste in armor, and wings, Kayle was not so different from Riven, except for the fact that she was very zealous in her beliefs.
Even still, Riven continued to eat her breakfast, having worked halfway through some pancakes. She turned to the bacon, sausage, and eggs, scooped some up on a fork, and followed it with a bite of hash-browns. She then lifted a strawberry to her mouth and took a bite, savoring it, before taking a drink of milk to wash everything down.

Kayle had eaten about half a piece of bacon before she stopped and shook her head. She grabbed her blade from the ground and turned to walk with her plate. She stopped beside Riven and looked down at the Exile, raising a brow. "I have not seen you around the Institute in sometime, Riven." She said bluntly.
Kayle had no ill will towards Riven, the Exile fought for what she believed in, just like herself. Kayle merely sat her plate on the ground and leaned against the tree.
"With League matches suspended for the foreseeable future, I see no reason why I am needed here."
Riven answered back quickly and precisely. Her duty as a champion was to fight for the peace of Valoran, and for her own interests as someone trying to reforge Noxus. With the fields closed, halls mostly empty, she could better serve her interests elsewhere, as she had in Ionia.

Kayle was silent after she heard Riven's answer. She looked over at her sword, which she left impaled in ground a few feet away from where she was. Kayle held her hand out towards the blade and it sprang to life, shaking free of the earth and quickly moving to Kayle's hand, heeding the call of it's master.
She examined the blade in her hand, running a hand over it and letting out a sigh. "Why did you join the League, Riven?" She asked. The question seemed sudden, but Kayle was genuinely curious.

Riven lifted a brow to glance at the angelic woman as she spoke. "I wanted to fight on my own terms." She took another bite of her breakfast as thoughts returned to the forefront of her mind regarding her Judgement. She huffed and shook them from her consciousness. "With it suspended, I've had to find other ways."

Her own terms... Kayle furrowed her brows at the thought. She was silent, her mind wandering off as it usually did when she was silent. Unfortunately, her mind always took her back to Morgana in situations like this. Kayle curled her fingers around the hilt of her blade as she shook the thoughts from her head, why did she even think about Morgana? Why, out of all things, does Morgana still plague her mind? She looked down at the Exile. Her sapphire eyes cold and dull. "You remind me so much of her..." She said bluntly.
"I don't pretend to understand the politics of your world, Judicator." Riven spoke, taking another bite of bacon and washing it down with some milk. "Perhaps it would suit you to not pretend to understand my own." She glanced to the woman once more. "But, before you begin drawing similarities, perhaps you could consider why it is that I supposedly remind you of your sister."

"Do not call her that." Kayle replied, turning her head back to the sky. "It is easy to draw similarities. Both of you defied your superiors, the only difference is that I can see why you left Noxus. What they did to Ionia was inexcusable. Morgana however, threatened my entire race. In truth, I should have killed her when I had the chance."
"Just because you can't see her reasons doesn't mean they were not in some way valid. I couldn't truly see what was wrong with my homeland until I was forced to lose everything." She looked to Kayle. "You should realize what a gift it is that you still have a family." Riven would stand from her spot, having finished her meal before she continued. "I lost mine, and not a day goes by that I don't wish I had at least one of them around." That said, she walked over to the nearest counter to deposit her spoiled dishes.
"On the contrary, you do. You've simply chosen to remove yourself from them." Riven said as she returned for her blade. "As someone who never had family, only to find it in an unexpected place, and to have it taken away by everything I'd ever known and trusted...you don't realize how lucky you are."

"I did not remove anyone.. she chose her path, she chose to throw me and my race to the wolves. I did nothing to her.. in fact everything I did was to protect her, I protected her at all costs and what did she do? She threw it all back in my face." Kayle said, her voice raising slightly in anger. She paused afterwards, looking off to the side. "You mortals cannot possibly understand the workings of Morgana and I."
"It's funny how both sides claim that they are oppressed, that both are right. Have you ever tried to consider things from her point of view, Judicator? You have an eternity to try and understand your sister." Riven sighed. "But I do not have an eternity to speak to someone who won't listen."
