After it's initial attempt to join forces with the Void being decided against, due to their... conduct on it's arrival, Nocturne instead chose to align with the only other acceptable force at large: the Shadow Isles. Having made it's way up the side of Valoran, after a 'small' slaughter in Demacia, the Nightmare had arrived at the coast closest to the northwest - the direction of the mythical island of death. While the flight wouldn't be a short one, hopefully the end result would be worth it. Taking off into flight, Nocturne made it's depart from the mainland.
Several hours later, the shade would arrive at the location of the Shadow Isles. The fog hung thick around the island, but seeing was not a problem for it. Drifting towards the shore, even Nocturne, a being neither dead nor alive, could feel the horrifying radiance the place naturally gave off. Looking towards the city, if one could call it that, at the center of the Isles, Nocturne waited for a resident to notice his presence.

A lone geist had been scouting the base of the isle mumbling about hunger for flesh, the creature saw Nocturne and had a devious grin upon it's rotting mouth as it ran back towards the city for Hecarim. The centaur has been at his personal living quarters on the far side of the isle, the geist had come hopping in with the same rotting grin it had from the base.
"Master, master! The shade is here, i saw him myself at the other side of the island. Where is reward master? You promised reward!" The geist was starting to annoy Hecarim and it had only been in his presence for a few seconds, the centaur grabbed his halberd by the weapon rack near his door and pointed it at the geist, seconds later it would grow 3 sizes. It's once rotting arms became strong and toned, it rolled on the floor laughing to itself at it's newfound power as the centaur made his way to Nocturne. Moments after leaving the geist would explode, the power it sought too much for it's pathetic body.
Upon reaching the base of the isle Hecarim gave a nod of greeting to the shade, letting his spirit-fires dim before adressing him. "Welcome to the Shadow Isles Nocturne. Shall we get to business? If you are willing to join us i will need to know why first."
Humming jauntily to himself, Thresh wove his way through the blighted, lifeless landscape of the Shadow Isles with his Lantern drifting along beside him in time with the song of its fell master.
"One, two, Threshie's coming for you; three, four, best lock the door; five, six, flee real quick; seven, eight, a'fore it's too late; nine, ten, meet your end!"
A lengthy bout of wild cackling followed moments after the sinister rhyme concluded, the Warden's Lantern seeming to glow ever brighter. Thresh's howling laughter and wild thrashing of chains lasted for several minutes as he continued to chart a course to his delivery point.
"Ahh, the things they say about me these days," the specter chuckled to himself. "Mine is certainly the greatest of occupations; 'tis both enjoyable to no end, and all for a good cause. So many souls to harvest, and so many new recruits at that! Mhmhmhmh...where would the Shadow Isles be without me?"
It was then that Thresh's Lantern began to react oddly to some yet unseen presence on the Island. The normally vibrant green aura it gave off took on a sickly tint, then jerked in mid-air as if being pulled by the unknown force. Summarily deciding on a quick detour, Thresh complied with the Lantern's urging and resumed his trek along the blighted hills. There it was, in the distance: an inky black blot among the featureless grey, accompanied by a flickering blue and silver form.
"Splendid," Thresh noted, lengthening his strides in anticipation. From a distant observer's point of view, it would seem as if Thresh moved at least twenty feet per 'step'. Doubtless, his chains would herald his arrival long before he got there himself.

It appears it did not have to wait long, for Hecarim quickly appeared upon the shady shores within minutes of Nocturne's arrival. Sheathing it's blades, it answered the equestrian's inquiry. "As long as I exist within this realm, I have but one job; killing humans. But as skilled as I may be, that is not a task I can completely alone. Therefore, if we form an alliance..."
Before the Eternal Nightmare could continue, the sound of chains would be heard. Turning it's head towards the distance, the apparition of Thresh and his Lantern were slowly coming into view. If Nocturne could grin, it would.
"...I can cut down all the bodies I need, and you of the Isles are free to harvest the souls."
"All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream."

Hecarim was preparing to address Nocturne with the ritual of joining the isles when the Ruined King spoke out to him, his flames reignited themselves in a burst around him, he looked at Nocturne with his eyes full of the fire, the centaur was smiling. "The king... he is awakened. Your initiation with us will have to wait" He looked over to Thresh who had arrived between the two "Old friend, i have no doubt you heard HIS call. We will be taking our new ally with us to him, let us see what our king requires of us."
With that the centaur started slowly walking towards the bridge of the Ruined Kings castle, pointing towards it, instructing Nocturne and Thresh to follow him.
Hecarim spoke truthfully, Thresh noted silently. The call of the Ruined King had resounded through his mind just as he reached the slope of the hill where the monstrous centaur and its mysterious shadow companion waited. Clearly, something of immense importance was in the works; Thresh, however, was rather ambivalent towards the idea of the Shadow Isles rising onto the world stage. He was very content with his centuries-old occupation of soul reaper, and engaging the rest of the Isles' denizens in scourging the living would only result in competition. So few understood that his job required an immense amount of subtlety and patience, traits that he almost liked to think were exclusive to himself amongst his fellows in undeath. At the least, a fresh companion had arrived, a shade among shades to say the least.
"I concur," the Warden replied with little enthusiasm. "After so long a wait, His Highness has likely become 'grumpy'. Time, I believe, to deal with the source of his eternally sour mood once and for all. Our liege doubtlessly will be interested in your new pet as well, Hecarim."
Beneath the ghastly surface, Thresh was indeed a mite disappointed. He had been hoping to make a detour at some point in the very near future, to visit the oldest of his favorite haunting grounds. It would have to wait, it seemed; royal business took unfortunate priority over Thresh's spare time.
