Until this point, Vivien was sure the ears were purely decorative. When he wiggled them, her eyes went wide in ecstatic surprise. "What?! They're real?" She laughed delightedly, drawing a few stares from passersby.
She eyed him up and down, seeming to realize the impropriety of her reaction. "Sorry." A pink tinge colored her pale cheeks. Finally, the last few customers before them cleared away. Glad for an interruption of their potentially awkward exchange, Vivien stepped confidently to the stall and drew out enough money for two plates. "Spicy mushroom pan-friend noodles, please. Two of them." She laid the coins on the counter without a backwards glance at Kevin.

Kevin lowered his head as she began to laugh, he was pretty sure she was laughing at him and not with him. His ears bent in a bit of an embarrassing way until she apologized. He looked up and saw he face a little rosy. "Its alright..."
As it was there turn to order, he stepped behind Vivien as she asked for two mushroom noodles. He watched as she put enough money for both the meals. His hands went into his pockets and pulled out a couple gold pieces of his own. "Oh, you don't have to pay for me."

She waved him off as though his refusal of her money were incredibly rude. "Of course I don't have to. But you just spent a bunch of money back there and lost everything you bought! Besides, I work so much I barely have time to spend my money." She didn't wait for him to respond, but threw her coins on the counter and took two steaming paper bowls of noodles from the vendor. "Thanks!" She smiled brightly, eyes crescent-mooning.
Then she turned and handed Kevin his food. The steaming noodles smelled incredible in the winter afternoon! Without more than a sweet grin, she took off as soon as he'd accepted the dish for the nearest city bench: a rickety wooden structure against one building of the small square, facing the bronze statue of some historical war figure.

He tried to say something as she refused to allow him to pay for his own food, but she was right. He did lose a majority of what he had to the mix up. He took the noodles happily and silently, he smiled at the vendor and gave him a small thanks before turning back around, Vivien already a good ten feet away from him. He panic'd for half a second before walking after her.
When they got to the bench, he immediately sat down, the noodles now in his lap. He looked at her and smiled as he would not appropriately thank her. "I really appreciate you doing all of this for me, nothing more than a stranger to you. Not just a stranger, but a foreigner...You have quite a generous helping of hospitality."
A pair of chopsticks would make its way out of his bag, he wouldn't eat just yet. "What kind of job do you have Vivien, it must be pretty rough if they require you to work six days a week."

She beamed, offering only, "You're interesting," by way of explanation. She unwrapped the single pair of disposable chopsticks she'd grabbed at the vendor stand. She'd forgotten to grab one for him. Good thing he came equipped!
She'd already twirled her first steaming bite of noodles around her utensils and popped it in her mouth when he asked the question. She blinked, offered a muffled, "Mmf," held up a slender finger as she worked through her food and pointed towards the skull-like Noxian mountain. At its peak, casting a foreboding shadow over the city, stood the massive High Command castle.
She swallowed, then explained, "Darkbourne Hold. I'm..." The girl paused, looking embarrassed, before she concluded, "I'm a maid."

"Interesting?" he thought to himself. What does she mean by that? Finally his chop sticks met the bowl as he lifted a bundle of noodles to his mouth before letting it drop back into the bowl as she explained her profession. Kevin looked up to the mountain with a look of awe in his eyes. "Y-you work for the Grand General...?"
Then he noticed that she was embarrassed as she mentioned she was a maid. He didn't think it was a bad job to have, it beat his career of being jobless. "Its amazing you get to for some one of such high status! How were you ever able to get such an occupation?"

She smiled tentatively. "Sort of. I do a lot of management. Catering organization, looking after distinguished guests. Whatever happens on my wing, that's my jurisdiction." His surprise and curiosity encouraged her to explain. "I've been doing what I do since I could walk. It was partly luck, partly skill that landed me where I am." Her tentative expression changed into a playful grin. "I'm pretty good at what I do."
She pulled her feet up under her and sat crisscrossed on the bench as she twirled a large bite of noodles around her chopsticks, then stuffed it in her mouth. After she'd chewed and swallowed, she returned the question, "So what do you do?"

Kevin would finally get a mouthful of noodles down before she asked her question. He would eat another couple of sizable servings of the noodles, trying to think of the best way to explain he never had a serious job in his life. "Me? I uhh...i'm just traveling at the moment. Seeing the world one place at a time. Trying to live as much as my life while i'm young, ya'know?"
He never was exceedingly good at a certain skill, especially not as great as Vivien lead on to be at what she did. As he took another mouthful of noodles, he sat next to her, silent. He felt a bit ashamed he had never worked an honest days work.

The maid's almond eyes lit up. She quickly worked through the noodles in her mouth and swallowed in a big gulp before inquiring: "Seeing the world? Where have you been?" She folded her knees beneath her and sat like a child expecting a story. "Tell me about it. I've never been out of Noxus."
The smile on her face spoke of genuine curiosity, deepened the dimples on her cheeks. She tossed her sheet of hair behind her and awaited his response.

Kevin took a sigh of relief that she didn't think he was a loser for being jobless. He took a moment to think where he had been before answering, noting the smile on her face, a quick thought running through his head. "She's pretty cute..."
"I haven't been too many places yet, I only just started traveling last month actually. I left Piltover and went straight to Zaun, that place smells horrible! You wouldn't believe the stench over there, i didn't stay very long after i got a whiff of their 'fresh' air. I camped a little near the Iron Spike mountains, not a fun place to be. Bandits everywhere! They hide behind rocks and jump out when you least expect it. Luckily none of them were that strong, so I didn't have that much trouble."
He took a quick mouthful of noodles and swallowed before continuing on with his traveling stories.
"One of the bandits actually dropped a flyer for The Butchering, and that's how i ended up here. I think i'll take a boat to Ionia tomorrow or the next day..."
He remembered her mentioning she had never left Noxus, he was about to say something but stopped. "Maybe you'd like to come along with me?" Was what he was going to say, but he realized how foolish he would sound, asking some one he just met to accompany him.

"Bandits!" she exclaimed, looking positively enraptured. She laughed, her eyes drawing up into happy crescents. After another bite, she cautioned, "You probably won't find a direct route to Ionia from here, though. There are a few trade ships that are cleared to make the journey, but for the most part, we don't sail openly in Ionian waters. Traffic goes through Bilgewater first--but that would be another fun place to visit!"
She leans sideways on the bench, supporting herself on the chair back with her elbow. "Oh, I'm sorry, by the way. I interrupted you. What were you going to say?"
Post by Kevin Droflum on Feb 23, 2013 18:36:33 GMT -5
He didn't even think of how hard it would be to get to Ionia from Noxus, maybe he should have paid more attention in his history class. He also remembered how he needed to get more money, perhaps it would be best to return home before continuing on his journey. "Oh, i guess you're right, heh. I think i'll go back to Piltover and see if i can get a boat from there...or maybe I could head to the institute of war. I heard they offer teleportation services."
Kevin sat silently for a second when she asked what he was about to say before. He took another gulp of noodles before coming up with something else to say. "Oh, i was going to ask if you...would want to...meet up with me next time you're off work...?"
Post by Vivien LeMeire on Feb 24, 2013 2:30:15 GMT -5
"Oh, um." Almond eyes went wide for a moment. She raised her brows, then broke into a sweet dimpled smile. "Sure! Why not. But only on one condition." Vivien winked coyly.
"Wherever you go, you'll bring me back a souvenir." She returned her attention to her noodles, twirled the final mouthful around her chopsticks and stuffed it in her mouth.

Kevin slurped down the rest of his noodles, setting the bowl by his side as she spoke, the sun slowly setting. He was over joyed to hear that she would continue to see him whenever she could. Then, he heard of her condition. It was easy enough, he planned on buying a few things to remember each place by anyways. "I don't know...hmmm..."
His face now looked like he was deeply considering her condition. He thought he'd make her worry a bit before coming out with it. A small smile spread across his face as he spoke. "Sounds fair enough to me."
As he looked at her, and thought of her condition, the perfect set of words came into his mind. He gulped before spitting it out. "Maybe to start this off, you could give me a....souvenir...?"

Vivien set her empty bowl down on the bench. She smiled coyly, ignoring innuendo if there were any, and pulled her coinpurse onto her lap with a drawn out, "Hmmm..." She fished around until her slender fingers closed around a tiny trinket. Then she picked it up, held it out to him in the palm of her hand, offered it up as seal on their playful deal. It was a porcelain thimble, white with the painted green skull of Noxus delicately printed on its face.
"Here. Maybe this will keep you from forgetting me in Noxus," she winked.
