"Where can I post?"

Yippee hooray. Another PSA. This is just a quick touch on forum etiquette.

Many of you have participated in forum RP communities before and are familiar with lingo and typical structures of propriety. But for those among us who are new to this type of environment--and for anyone who needs a reminder--I'm going to define a few terms.

When you see a qualifier in the title of a post, here is what you can expect:

• Open: OP welcomes participation from all. Anyone can drop in, but PCs should always consider character motivation and timing of events before doing so. For instance, if a PC was hiking in Freljord yesterday, he shouldn't show up in Bandle City today--especially if he hates yordles. RP threads are "open" by default, but one should always be discerning when deciding whether/how to participate.
  
  
• Semi-Open: OP may have a goal in mind for this RP. Participation is welcome, but only by appropriate characters. For instance, in a semi-open RP where PCs are plotting Swain's downfall (theeyesoftheravenareuponyoutalon), I shouldn't have him waltz in by chance--even if they were holding the meeting in Noxus, where he would feasibly be. Always read semi-open threads carefully before posting. Oftentimes, OP will specify what kinds of PCs are welcome. If in doubt, message OP with your intentions and politely ask to join the thread.
  
  
• By Invitation: OP has already invited a select few to the thread. These participants likely have a course of events in mind for their RP. Newcomers must request clearance to post. If you feel your character's presence is appropriate, message OP for invite.
  
  
• Closed: Participants in this RP are predetermined. OP is not accepting requests of inclusion. Note: in the interest of fostering an active, inclusive community, please used closed threads only when the sensitive nature of your RP demands it.
