“Oh. You are selling? Well, do you happen to have samples of your products, master Arenar? My school, if you must know, is relatively small, and I rarely buy arms in bulk. Also, many weapons we use are... exotic in nature, tailored to specific tastes of the arena.” Sylvia looked slightly surprised and pleased. It was a fellow businessman. She decided to give him the benefit of the doubt.
She continued. “I had their collars contracted in zaun, but the multiple companies make maintenance quite a hassle. Plus, the spinal chemical shock control does produce the occasional... unpleasant side effects. You wouldn’t happen to know a superior designer for slave collars, would you? I am always in need of upgrading the collars’ efficiency, while minimizing the damage to the Brides themselves. It is poor form to trade in... Defective goods, after all.”

"Yes, as I said, I have two." He reached into his coat and detached the his knife's sheathe from the belt and pulled it out, making sure his action didn't give any hint of violent intent. The knife was actually fairly long, about a foot long blade with a five inch handle. It had several small buttons on the handle. He gently placed it in front of her to inspect. "You do not need to buy in bulk from us, though doing so does result in a cheaper unit price. This particular weapon has two major modifications: The blade can be electrified to cause further harm to opponents and canisters of poison can be put in the hilt, allowing for the blade to easily be poisoned. There are plenty of other modifications that can be made to already existing weapons." He then pulled out his revolver and several cartridges. "This one is simply more accurate than others of its type, the bullets each have their own modifications, from delivering a dose of poison, piercing heavy armor, exploding on contact, or shattering in the body. Though, like I said, there are many more available." He pulled out a small booklet and placed it on the table, it was a list of weaponry that his syndicate manufactured, all of it was highly advanced, deadly, and expensive.
"If you were to allow me to examine one of the collars, I can see what we have available. Though, if you do not need immediate control, and instead something more long-term and subtle, there are chemical means with which control can be maintained."
Sylvia examined the blade, feelings its weight and balance. She seemed to know how to hold a sword, it seemed. "Fine indeed, but the techmatheurgy offsets what would be a well balanced blade. It is good, but I wish only for the best. Do you accept commissions for exotic weapons, like the two-bladed Impaler, or barbed nets? or razor flails? "
Next she examined the firearm. This too, she knew how to inspect and operate, gaining a feel for its use. "...This one will suit my personal defense quite well. I shall purchase this one at once, if you do not mind. Does it come with... an accessory to contain it in? I most prefer to be discreet about my weapons."
Sylvia gestured to one of her slaves, and whispered something in his ear. Minutes later he brought a box, and in it was one of the special collars for the gladiators.
The matron handed it to Marcellus. "I am seeking an alternative to chemical control, as I am striving for peak physical capability from my warriors. Can you make a suggestion? Explosive collars are too... final though. I prefer something that can discipline them without damaging or marking their bodies."

Marcellus nodded at her comment on the knife. "That is the disadvantage of the poison canister modification. The blade becomes almost impossible to balance due to the variable weight in the hilt, though the canister can be taken out and replaced with a weight to properly balance it. Weapons that have modifications retrofitted into them can sometimes have their balance thrown off, but ones made to have the modifications from scratch do not have such issues. We can supply such exotic weapons, the booklet I gave you has a list of modifications that we can add to them during the production. It describes the function of each modification, along with advantages and drawbacks. All we need is for you to tell us what weapons you want manufactured and with which modifications." "As for the firearm, it is my personal one, but, out of good nature, I will allow you to borrow it until we can supply a replacement, which will be specially tailored to you, allowing for optimal comfort and accuracy."
Marcellus examined the collar for a few seconds, figuring out how it worked. "We can supply ones that will simply deliver an electrical shock without the use of chemicals. They are slightly more bulky than this, but not much, and there is less risk for permanent damage. Though one even more effective method than a collar would be surgically implanted devices that can deliver the shock, that way a slave must receive surgery to truly be free of your influence. Another method includes a device which would attach to the ear, it can be done very discreetly, and when activated it will use sound to disorient and cause pain. There is a risk for permanent hearing damage with that method though. For long term discipline, we can provide addictive substances that you can force the slaves to consume, while you cannot immediately punish with this method, they will not be able to run, due to their need to be supplied with the drug. The drug itself does not affect them in any case, or can even be made beneficial to them in some way, unfortunately, punishment cannot be immediate with this method, the drug must wear off and withdrawal must begin for there to be any true 'punishment.'"
Sylvia nodded at the weapons discussion, signalling they were in accord.
She then listened intently to the control. "I have no desire to taint my products with drugs. And gladiators need their balance to fight effectively, so I will not use a sonic device. I believe the surgical option is best, but would that not entail bringing my slaves to Zaun, or to ship in surgeons then?"

"Actually, we have bases here in Noxus that employ surgeons out of Zaun, and some of the less moral ones out of Piltover. We try to keep at least one of our clinics running in each city, though often times have more. I can understand your weariness to use drugs, but I always want to inform clients of all the options..." Marcellus began to feel as though his business here was coming to a close. "Now then, if you do wish to make use of our services, I suggest you take some time to think over what I have offered, then write down what it is you wish for us to provide. The slaves you want us to give the implants to, any weapons you want us to order, anything else of that sort, and deliver it to our nearby order center." He took out a small piece of paper which gave directions to the center that he was speaking of. "It is mostly for the sake of organization really, that and making sure you've looked over all of what we have to offer. Once you do that, another representative will come within a day to take any slaves you wish to have the surgery performed on, as well as to ask you a few questions and take a few measurements of you in order to tailor the gun to be as personalized to you as possible."
"Drugs, crime, and secrets: our stock, trade, and currency, with which we buy power."
"I will purchase samples first before I commit to your full services. I will send one of my gladiatrixes to be operated on- not one of the brides- to sample the implants. I will also commission for a dire flail, and an Impaler glaive, to see if you can manage exotic weapons."
She paused to take a sip. "Well then it seems we are in business, mister Arenar. I do hope your services will be satisfactory."

Marcellus nodded, "Very well then, I will have our people make the weapons you requested, they should be ready in not too long of a time. I will return with them then. In the meantime..." He took the hidden holster he had on him off and placed it on the table in front of Sylvia. "I believe you requested the temporary use of this." He stood and bowed his head slightly to Sylvia, then picked up his dagger and prepared to leave.
"Drugs, crime, and secrets: our stock, trade, and currency, with which we buy power."
"Yes, I hope to fruitful business in the future. Fare well, master Arenar. Oh, and we are having a party at the end of the week. Consider yourself invited." Sylvia had her slaves escort the dealer out the mansion.
She went to the mansion's balcony to oversee training.
March, 23 CLE The Evening after Caerys's Drake Match
It was a quiet but celebratory evening at the Monteclaire Estate. Fine food and drink to which she was used to was prepared, for the celebrationof the day's victory. Captain Monteclaire, Sylvia's (much) younger husband, was present to congratulate his spouse on her achievements in the arena. They were dining in the formal dining hall, awaiting the arrival of a guest.

Vergil arrived at the estate on foot as opposed to the old Dreadstorm carriage which had been left to rot somewhere outside of town. He was accompanied by one of his mercenaries a tall man with grey hair and the kind of eyes that a strategist would have. Vergil knocked the door heavily awaiting for the answer.
The doorman opened the gate's service door and quickly ushered Vergil and his company in.
"This way please." They are led with little ceremony up to the estate proper, the manor atop a steep, possibly artificial hill. It takes a few dozen steps and a short walk to get to the manor proper.
They are directed through the house's simple interior, most of the decorations related to arena combat, great battles, and the very 'detailed' female statues of previous champions in victory poses. And of course, the ever present house slaves, meekly attending to their duties, their lives lived out for their mistress.
"Ah, there he is now. Dreadstorm's son. Please, sit! Join us for supper. We apologize, but we didn't prepare anything lavish tonight- simple roast pigeon with Noxian berry sauce, and a light salad on the side... and Rapture wine. " She invited Vergil to be seated at her left, the matron seated at the head of the table. Her husband meanwhile, the Captain Monteclaire, greeted Vergil simply, and seemed young enough to be her son... One can just imagine how these two met.

"Right, I didn't expect a fancy diner anyway." Vergil returned the greetings before taking his seat at the table, his other guest took another seat within earshot. "Well I must say I was impressed by the show today." He sat their taking a look at the table spread thinking through his mind how he should quarter up his meal for the night.
"Yes. Sylvia knows how to make a gladiatrix." The male officer said, more as a side comment. He was in the military and had little knowledge about the arena, and remained quiet most of the time..
Sylvia smiled as she ate, breaking off some ciabatta bread and eating it with the pigeon. She simply gestures for Vergil to begin eating if he was hungry. "Well it should be. I invest great amounts of time and money to train each of my Brides... so, what did you have in mind, young master Vergil Dreadstorm?"

"You may just call me Vergil." He forked himself a little bit of pigeon to place on his plate and a small pile of salad before he began eating. "I have been short a few fighters as of late, our markswoman is out of commission and three other members of our team were killed in combat. Now I found three others as replacements but I am still short one."
