Feb 17, 23 CLE
The Starchild arrives in Demacia in the late afternoon. After speaking with Almyra she has decided to travel around Valoran, starting With Demacia. She hopes to help those in need and maybe make some friends along the way. Soraka took with her the only items she felt were needed; her kitten Orion, a few changes of clothes, food and water, and a large sum of money. The food, water, clothes, and kitten are being held by a small cart she is carrying and a coin purse is strapped to her hip. She is having a farmer from a nearby town care for her plants in her absence. She had offered to pay him but he refused, for she had saved his youngest son from a terrible case of pneumonia.
She wanders the grand streets of Demacia, nodding and greeting citizens as she walks. She does not have a set destination yet.

Gillam stepped outside of Dunwall Estate, stopping to breath in some fresh afternoon air. It was a fine day in Demacia, and Gillam rarely stopped to appreciate nature, in his time, and the present.
He spotted a peculiar figure. She seemed to be some sort of a lady, but Gillam couldn't make her out from the threshold of the manor. He didn't want to stroll all the way to take a look at her, that would seem rude. He tried glancing at the lady as best as he could, when he saw the horn.
"Yeeep!" Gillam yelped in surprise, causing some bystanders to stare at the knight. He hoped the lady hadn't heard his sudden outburst, and covered his mouth, looking away in hopes that he didn't get noticed.
"No matter the era, I am Demacian, through and through."

Soraka hears a man yell and she stops walking and quickly turns to the direction of the yell. She sees a man covering his mouth and picks up her cart again and approaches him.
"Hello sir, are you sick? I can help you."
Orion then wakes up from his nap and stretches. Soraka had folded up her blanket to make a bed for him to sleep on. He stands and slaps at the back of her leg. She giggles and scoops him up with one arm. He begins purring loudly and looking around him, taking in his surroundings. Soraka then takes her free hand and uses her magic to see if Gillam is alright.

Gillam started to twitch as the lady got closer. It was a lady, yes, but some sort of...creature... Gillam had his hand over his mouth during her stroll towards the knight. When she asked how Gillam was feeling, Gillam shook his head, his mouth still obscured.
However, it was too late. Before Gillam got the chance to say something to the lady, a halo of shimmering light appeared over him. Reacting with the pendant around his neck, the energy of Soraka's spell fused with the now brightly glowing pendant.
Gillam had just enough time to scream a short "Nooo!" when it was rudely interrupted by a large magical blast, shattering the cart that Soraka had, and sending a few bystanders flying.
However, it was Gillam who went the furthest. The magical reaction threw him into the Estate, breaking down the double doors in almost an instant, but otherwise doing no harm to the Estate.
Gillam, who was now in the living room of the estate, slowly extended his hand. "Oof..." Gillam promptly said, then laid back down, clearly too exhausted by the blast to do anything.
"No matter the era, I am Demacian, through and through."

Soraka was first confused when the man screamed no, then she was surprised at the mild explosion. She was knocked backward from the blast. Orion screamed and she curled up to protect him. She landed on her back and the wind was knocked out of her. Soraka hits her head as she falls and scrapes the back or her arms. She gasps and opens her eyes to see her garments of clothing floating down. The Starchild sits up and Orion starts slapping at her cheek.
"Mrrooooowwwww"
"Yes yes I am alright." She then sets him down. "Stay here."
Soraka then runs to the bystanders affected by the blast and begins treating them.

Gillam finally mustered up enough strength to extend his hand out. After a few more seconds, he groaned, and rose to his feet. Some of his servant rushed towards him, but he quickly dismissed them. Gillam trotted outside. The blast hadn't done much to harm him, only minor bruises and scratches became of his impact with the manor floor.
The knight rushed as fast as he could towards Soraka. "Excuse me... I wasn't fast enough. I know you weren't trying to harm me, but I really don't have a thing with magic." Gillam sheepishly grinned, then continued. "I am Gillam, leader of House Dunwall, at your service."
Gillam graciously bowed. Back in his era, he rarely saw creatures outside of Demacian walls. However, he had grown accustomed to them in this time period, and Soraka was definitely not the worst case. By now, Gillam had overcome the initial shock of her, so he decided it would be best to get on good terms.
"What brings you to Demacia?" Gillam asked, trying to break the ice. He had backed away from Soraka a bit as she tended to the injured citizens, being careful as to not cause another blast.

Soraka saw the injuries on Gillam, though minor, she knew they were her fault and she felt terrible. She reached her hand out to heal him but remembered what happened last time and pulled her hand back.
"I am so sorry! This is all my fault. I should of done more research before I left Ionia."
Soraka then bows to him and turns back to the woman she was attending to. Her hand glows as she heals the woman's cut caused by a fracture of wood.
"I am Soraka, a champion of the League. What brings me here? Well, I wanted to explore the world and meet new people. I had decided to no longer confine myself to one area. I also thought I could do some good along the way."
The Starchild sighs.
"That part hasn't gone well so far."

Gillam could clearly see this lady did not intend any harm, and became more relaxed. "Don't worry about it, there was nothing you could have done." Gillam smiled. "It is nice that both of our nations have peaceful relations. Back in my era, no nation outside of Demacia was to b e trusted...not even Ionia."
"However, I can clearly see that has changed. I met with the Bandle City ambassador about two weeks ago, and I plan to visit Piltover sometime this month." Gillam was about to continue, but then he remembered that Soraka didn't know where he was from.
"Pardon me, I forgot to inform you. I...am not from this time period. I hail from a much earlier Demacia of the Third Rune War. However, that all changed when I became frozen in Freljord. Luckily for me, the magic in this pendant of mine kept me in a period of stasis, until I was unfrozen not too long ago."
Gillam rolled the pendant around his hand. "Things have changed. It is hard to accept that Noxus is no longer our enemy. I was trained to not give mercy to them, and now they are our friends, apparently. It is...tough, to say the least."
"No matter the era, I am Demacian, through and through."

The Starchild nods at this.
"Yes, I remember the rune wars. They were terrible occurrences that took many lives. I was overwhelmed with a great many injured from all city states. Many of them were too far gone for my magic to do any good. It broke my heart to see so much suffering. I do not understand why humans fight with each other, kill one another."
She finishes healing the woman and sends her on her way. Orion then runs to her side and she picks him up, hugging him close to her chest. She stands and turns to Gillam.
"Oh that must of been awful, did you lose any family members due to your absence?"

Gillam's eyes had a sorrowful look to them as he replied to Soraka's words. "Every single one of them, as far as I know. I'd be lucky to find a half cousin thrice removed, much less grandchildren, or anything close to the Dunwall lineage."
"I honestly hate this. Every day, I wake up, and remember that my past life is gone. What were once vivid moments are now in history books, long forgotten by the modern era." Gillam had a longing and wistful look in his eyes. "I never got the chance to say goodbye to my family. When I shipped out for Freljord, I was not aware that would be the last time I saw them..."
Gillam became more focused all of a sudden, turning back towards The Starchild. "I... I am sorry. Sometimes it helps me to recollect the past. However, that is behind me now. I believe that it was my destiny to be unfrozen. I think that I can make a difference in this era, even though I was not meant to take part in it."
"No matter the era, I am Demacian, through and through."

The Starchild shifted Orion to one arm and put her hand on Gillam's shoulder to comfort him.
"Yes, to suddenly lose those you care for is very saddening. When I left my grove I did not know I would never enter it again. It takes a while for it to settle, for you to accept it. But do not apologize for sharing your grief with me. I may be a healer of the body with magic, but words can be used to heal the mind."
Orion then stretches and yawns, spreading his toes out. Soraka kisses him on the head and he begins purring, the sound vibrating through her chest.
"This little guy is the only family I have now."

Xin Zhao was of course taking a stroll through Demacia. Some time off was always nice, and it seemed like a great time to do such a thing. As he was casually walking through the crowds he spotted someone. She looked familiar... A fellow champion of the league, Soraka. What was she doing here though? Didn't matter, might as well be the welcoming party though.
He puts on a smirk and walks up to The Starchild, giving a polite wave and speaking. "Hello Soraka, what brings you here on this day?"
(( Not sure if I mentioned but that signature is hilarious. ))

Soraka turns to see Xin approaching her and Gillam. She removes her hand from Gillam's shoulder and holds her kitten with both hands.
"Oh Xin! You could say I am an a sort of vacation. I have finally decided to explore a little."
She then shakes her head a little.
"I am so sorry for the disturbance I caused in your fair city. But I have a favor to ask of you. Could you get me an audience with the king or prince. I would like to discuss some things with them. I would greatly appreciate it."
(Thanks. :3)

Gillam stepped back as the Senschal approached Soraka. He had heard his tale of escaping Noxus and the dreadful event that he was imprisoned at, at the knight thought this was a very honorable tale. However, he had never met Xin Zhao in person, so this was a good opportunity to do so.
Gillam waited until he found an opening in the conversation, then stepped in. "Excuse me for interrupting, but..." he turned to face Xin. "I am Gillam Dunwall, head of House Dunwall. It is an honor to meet you, sir." Gillam graciously bowed, glancing at Soraka for a moment, then reverting to Xin again.
"No matter the era, I am Demacian, through and through."
Xin appears to ponder for a few seconds then replies. "A vacation... Everyone can use one of those." He waves a hand and shakes his head. "It's fine, I'm sure it was just an accident, and I'm sure I can get you an audience, long as they aren't too busy of course."
He turns to Gilliam and gives a light smile, nodding. "Nice to meet you as well."
