Viktor's masked visage continued to stare at TNS-4, its expressionless surface hiding away his true features. After hearing the lad's question, he answered in the least aggressive manner he believed possible. "Analysis would include allowing you free reign to do as you please, and I would merely watch. I have no need or desire to directly antagonize or even cause harm upon you. In fact, I might even see enough value in protecting you if I perceived favorable results from your continued existence...."
And then the young man who had spoken against him before saw fit to question him again, this time the hostility was met with a rather cold and reproachful glare from the Machine Herald, as he stood and turned to face Garth while listening to his words. "You.....You want to speak so highly of your own horrendous experiences from living in Zaun, and yet criticize some of its most brilliant representatives, whom put their very lives on the line for the sake of their city-state? Those men you have mentioned, all pioneers of their scientific fields, all Champions who have joined the League of Legends, to fight upon the Fields of Justice, to prove themselves and show their worth to all of Valoran - you speak so ill of these men, spouting self-righteous slander, without a care to their value to our world. You would do well to cease your incessant prattling, for your pugnacious words would fall on deaf ears if slung at any other...."
Viktor's right hand closed, squeezed into a tight fist as he looked at it for the moment. "Although I do agree with you on a few things. It is merely human nature to seek the deaths of others and destroy the environment, to lie and cheat, to manipulate others to do one's bidding, and most of all to disregard the dedication and sacrifices of less fortunate individuals....." Viktor briefly glanced back to TNS-4, before turning his attention back to Garth. "I do not seek out such things. My only goal is to make humanity realize their foolishness, and to lead the world into a glorious era where any given individual can live harmoniously with technology as much a part of themselves as their very souls. All living beings need to see that choosing mechanical marvels over flesh and bone is the only way...."
Viktor's mask was unable to hide the conviction with which his next words were spoken, as he directed his full attention to the inquirer before him. "In one's hand, techmaturgy is a tool. AS one's hand, it is liberation! The fault for everything terrible in this world is not in the tools nor the individuals, but in the IDEALS that such individuals use such tools in the name of! The desires of man have lead to far too much ruin and loss, and I seek to show the world that an over-commitment to their inferior physiology can only further the devolution of the world until all are reduced to their primal state. I am the Machine Herald, a symbol of the future! My only concern rests in advancing my evolution and drawing others into its fold. Those who do not approve or outright reject it, will ultimately meet their gruesome end and never see the coming of the glorious era! I need not take the lives of others, for they will lose them of their own accord at any rate. My role is that of a guide; I offer everyone the idea of transcending their fragility, promising them a new means of ushering in a prosperous future dominated by hextech! The only question that remains, then, is whether or not you will join the Glorious Evolution...."
((Hmm... I think Angela may be waiting for me to post. I would have done so sooner, but I was sort of AFK for the past week.)) TNS-4 thought over Viktor's proposition. He had only one thing he cared about right now, and that was survival. If this mechanized man could help him to do that, he would be willing to allow Viktor to observe as he wished. "And if you don't perceive 'favorable results,' if you decide that you and your 'Glorious Evolution' benefit more from killing and dissecting me, what then? You still do not seem at all trustworthy." He looked at Garth. "And why are you here? What do you wish from me?"

Garth listened to the Herald reply to his speech, rather coldly, but that was too be expected. He didn't expect the Herald to understand, he did not expect any Zaunite to understand, but he didn't want to explain it to them. No he wanted to show them what he intended to bring to Zaun.
"At least we agree on the sacrifice of the less fortunate, but you criticize me on my experiences and then what you call 'slander'. Did you consider that my experiences and the sacrifices of the less fortunate are related? Tell me what does Mundo do? He kidnaps his test subjects, it does not matter who, and then experiments on them for his own sadistic pleasure! I will concede that he did advance the research on the response to pain, but at what cost? A hundred lives? More? Could someone not have acquired that same research with less loss of human life! Perhaps with no loss of human life? The field of science has to draw a line somewhere!"
Garth paused letting what he said sink in, "Let us not forget some of the experiments Singed performs to test his deadly concoctions! If the subject is lucky enough to survive then they are forever changed! Sometimes for the better, most of the time they change for the worse! Then let us not forget his hand in the Ionian Invasion. Was that the point of science? To kill and slaughter people! For the benefit of one man? Singed, was the only one who benefited from that experiment. He received wealth and the pleasure of testing out his greatest experiment at that time." Garth paused before asking, "Can you honestly agree with that Viktor? That science is meant to kill and destroy? Rather then help and save?"
Then Garth heard TNS-4 address him, "What do I offer you? I'm here to offer you a way out, and a chance to possibly discover yourself without the risk of dying. They don't allow life threatening experiments where I am from, perhaps you could help others and yourself in a way that is much different then what Viktor is offering you." He said simply keeping his augmented eye on Viktor and the other Zaunite scientist. The augmented teenager knew they may not take kindly to one of their future experiments walking away to a place where they may never reach him. Piltover.
Zaun science is killing far more than its saving. I want to put a stop to that!
Viktor looked to TNS-4 as the lad spoke to him, asking him what he would do should he perceive unfavorable results, at which point the self-augmented techmaturgist merely shook his head. "Results are exactly what they are, regardless of my beliefs or impressions. I would prefer to think that you have much to offer me, and to the Glorious Evolution. Technology is truly amazing, holding endless potential and possibility. Technology always improves, it is constantly evolving, advancing from one obsolete state to the more innovative one. Humanity hasn't changed, despite all the time that they've been given they still refuse to change and reject any meaningful concepts that would otherwise save them from their self-destruction. And you need not be concerned of whether or not I would bring you any harm, for my only intent is in observing what you have to offer and assessing if it is beneficial to the Glorious Evolution. After all, I have yet to see what, precisely, your link with your techmaturgical devices is. Such a detail is far too important to compromise with any notion of.....dissecting you. It is a messy and inconvenient process, anyhow."
Then Viktor returned his attention to Garth, who continued on his tirade concerning his fellow Zaunite Champions. "Perhaps you did not near my words the first time, boy, but your words are naught by slander. Although each of them has benefited significantly, they have still made progress that could be used to the benefit of so many more. Life and death are just parts of he natural order, and it matters not whether one's mortality reaches its intended end or expires prematurely. One can not simply spend their life and time concerning themselves over such trivial moral compunctions, instead they should devote themselves to whatever and wherever their talents lie. Your speech stems heavily from your own jaded experiences by Zaun and its people, I can see that, but it doesn't give you anything other than a severely narrow and biased view on the greater world. You have no idea how the world works. One can not gain anything without first losing something - and that which is lost varies considerably from person to person. Zaun is a place that knows all too well what drives the world around us, its people are privvy to what is required in order to realize one's greatest ambitions..."
Arcane energy began to wisp out of the left side of Viktor's mask, as his glare intensified such that it became obvious that he was indignant with Garth. "Suffering, too, is a part of the natural order. As is joy....success.....danger.....security....even pain. Everyone knows these things at least once each in their lifetimes, yet some experience them more than others. People are fragile. They are lost. They serve only themselves at the cost of others. Nobody is exempt. All of humanity is like this. For it is the nature of humanity....to cause suffering, and to profit from the misfortune of others. Morality is but another tool that humanity has invented for their own selfish ends, one which they use to justify their existence and their actions. Who has the right to say what is good? Or evil? Who is it that decides what justice is, and how to issue penance for what is perceived as injustice? Everything that we know in this world has been tailored to benefit specific individuals for specific criteria, but ultimately everything revolved around a single cause: self-gratification. Selflessness doesn't exist....Such a distinction is merely a delusion, a reassurance by the self-serving that their conceit might benefit others, but in the end they still act in their own best interest. Such notions are ludicrous! They lack logic and clarity! I promise people a change, one which can keep them from destroying themselves and allow the world to continue without the endangerment that humanity presents to it! Only when you see this truth can you ever attempt to speak to me on equal terms, and only then will your words hold any meaning. Otherwise, you are nothing more than a brat throwing a tantrum."

"And the experiences of the citizens of Zaun and myself do not count? Do we not get a voice in what ought to happen to us?" Garth paused here, "No, this is Zaun with a government that allows anything for the sake of science. That is too corrupt to care about the citizen's well-beings. Citizens who never got the chance to harness their talent due to Zaun's ways! It is like you said one cannot gain without loss, but when does the gain justify the loss? When does the pain, death and suffering justify the gain?"
Garth knew Viktor was growing angry with him, he could tell from the arcane energy....one did not anger champions and walk away. However, Garth's views of Zaun seemed to spur him forward to continue, "You criticize me for my speech about Zaun and the world. Saying, I do not understand it, but then you go and speak about humanity? You call us selfish and will cause our own demise. I will not deny that is true for some, but not all humanity is selfish as you state. Everyone knows of how you were betrayed and tricked, is it not possible that this experience has jaded your own experience? Has given you a narrow sense of vision about humanity?"
He paused before adding in a slightly mocking tone, "Of course not, that would be below the Herald of the glorious revolution. He would not dare admit that he the pinnacle of evolution would have such a narrow and unwise position about humanity. Then again, I suppose you already have. Maybe the 'glorious revolution' is just as set in its ways as humanity. It just hasn't lived long enough to realize it." Garth ended before looking back to TNS-4.
"You have heard us both go on and on about views of Zaun, and a variety of other things. I propose you choose. You can come with me and escape this hellhole, in my own opinion, or with the Herald. It is YOUR choice, not mine and not Viktor's." He made sure to emphasis the word 'your'. "I will not judge you for going with Viktor, and I'm sure he in turn will respect your choice of coming with me. So who do you wish to go with?"
Zaun science is killing far more than its saving. I want to put a stop to that!
TNS-4 looks at Viktor, then at Garth, the woman seemed to be in league with Viktor. Viktor claimed that harming him would not give him anything, but he found out it did help to progress this 'Glorious Evolution,' it seemed like Viktor would not hesitate to harm or even kill TNS-4. Garth seemed to want nothing from TNS-4. He wanted to help him for some reason, even though he had nothing to gain. But if he was from where it seemed--Piltover--then it was a logical thing for him to do based upon the culture, and Garth was far more trustworthy as well. He also seemed to have gone through something similar to what TNS-4 did.
TNS-4 made his decision, and stepped toward Garth. "I will go with you."
Viktor didn't even bother to respond to Garth's words, as it became all too clear that the two of them were at an impasse and a complete lack of agreement. So the Machine Herald decided to drop the debate for now, as he turned his masked visage expectantly to TNS-4. He was almost certain that the lad would agree with him, as it was the most logical course of logic that Viktor himself could see. He did not expect for the runaway experiment to choose Garth, and in so doing choosing to side with Piltover.
At that moment, something inside of Viktor snapped. As he clenched his artificial hands into fists, tightening them, arcane energy crackled around them in a most ominous manner. The threads of energy danced about, arcing erratically as Viktor seethed at the turn of events. Unable to prevent it, the Machine Herald let out an uncharacteristic growl of indignation.
"Both of you brats....are such naive fools! The only thing you've known, and all you will continue to experience, is ignorant frailty! The technology at your disposal is wasted upon the likes of you! You, who know nothing and are destined for destruction! You know nothing of potential! You know nothing of possibility! You know nothing of what TRUE POWER is!" At his outburst, the mechanical arm mounted on his pauldron seemingly jumped to life as it made a threatening gesture at the two youths who had proven themselves enemies to Viktor himself. "This mockery....This insult to a true genius like myself....Do you truly believe you can simply walk away, to join the likes of those inferior creators who limit their own technological capabilities? No. If your technology will not be used to contribute to the Glorious Evolution, then I will destroy it with my own hands!"
At that moment he reached behind his back and proceeded to draw what appeared to be his signature staff in miniature, but no sooner had he brought it forward than it unfolded into its full glorious length. The end of the staff gripped in his right hand blazed to life, generating an arcane energy of varying colors. Viktor's left hand reached behind his back as well, this time producing his Power Transfer projectile. "You should feel honored, for you will see for yourselves the superior designs of the Machine Herald..."
And with that said, the self-augmented Zaunite hurled the device at Garth as he pointed his staff forward to fire a blast of arcane energy at TNS-4.
With his heightened reflexes, TNS-4 dodged the blast of energy and slammed himself into Garth, trying to push him out of the way of the power transfer, but he kept low so it would fly over him. As he did so, the nanite swarm came from his body and attacked Viktor, Phi and the wolf. They did not attack to kill yet, that would take too long. No, this time they went for the eyes. The black nanites would first cover their opponents' eyes to block vision, once that was done they would begin to attack, painfully tearing them apart at the cellular level against organic targets, or deconstructing synthetic ones and using the resources to construct more nanites, accelerating the attack.
Viktor's reasoning had failed to predict TNS-4's actions due to one fact: TNS-4 cared for only one thing, survival. And from knowledge that had been implanted in his mind, he knew Piltover to be more trustworthy than Zaun, and far less likely to have him killed. Those who were already after him were also less likely to be in Piltover.

Garth nodded and shot a quick smile to TNS-4 and was about to give his farewells to Viktor, when the Herald began to rant, and mentioned destroying those that oppose his revolution. It seems that the Herald had issues with rejection and was aggressive. It seems all of Piltover was right to call him a madman. Garth began to slowly reach for the strap of his LS-457, his rifle, when he saw Viktor reach behind his back and pull out two objects. One turned out to be a staff, the other appeared to be a boomerang like device of some sort. Then that device came toward him right as he was about to sling his rifle around, catching him flat-footed.
'Shit'
However he was pulled down by his new-found companion. Who unleashed a black cloud of....tiny machines or so it appeared at Viktor and the other women. Garth quickly jumped to his feet and slung his rifle into firing position, "Pull away from the women, focus on Viktor! Also...RUN!" He barked before opening fire at Viktor with his rifle. Granted these were more meant to suppress the champion's actions, by pinning him down with a sheer volume of rounds. The bullets were further empowered by his mana adding a little bit more kick to each of the rounds. On his arm was the mana converter, the symbol on it was growing a bright blue indicating it was currently being used.
On the bright side for Viktor is that Garth was firing from the hip meaning his rounds might be going a bit off target. The young man began to back up as fast as he could trying to put distance between himself and the madman who was trying to kill him. He was afraid. Understandably so, he had gotten himself in a fight with a champion from the league. A champion who may have help, and based off Jayce's, Vi's and Caitlyn's abilities. This was not a fight he would win, but a fight he could escape. That was the main objective, get to his group's caravan and run as fast as they could. Live to fight and pursue his goal another day.
That was the only thought on his mind as he pulled the trigger for the fifth time, launching yet another bullet at the Herald. He was halfway through his clip, and he knew it. So he back pedaled much much faster.
Zaun science is killing far more than its saving. I want to put a stop to that!
Unfortunately, the nanomachines would find themselves rather ineffectual to Viktor as he stood his ground. His mask was specifically designed so as to prevent any harm to his still humanly face, as it was one of the few things he had yet to replace with augmentations. Additionally, the tiny machines would find it nigh-impossible to assimilate whatever material the artificial parts were made from, as the end of Viktor's staff was alit with a golden flame indicative of his Evolving Technology - his Power Augment was in full effect now, as it supercharged all of his devices and significantly enhanced his durability...
But it seemed that TNS-4 was not alone in his retaliation, as Garth had also deigned to fight back by firing with the rifle slung on his back. Some of the shots, however, veered off course for the sole fact that the weapon was fired from the hip, reducing accuracy, this due to the diversion that the Power Transfer projectile had produced. Speaking of which, the rapidly rotating device made its return to its creator after a very brief flight, whereupon it released the energy it stored within as the familiar barrier that one would see on the Fields of Justice. The barrier clearly contributed to warding off the nanomachine swarm, improving upon the Herald's already impressive fortitude as it absorbed most of the shots that were actually on course, although the first few had hit Viktor himself and, if they had not been recalled, likely the nanomachines as well.
"Your resistance is futile. Your designs are inferior to my own. You, who merely rely upon your devices as a means to an end, have no hope of matching one who has replaced his own anatomy with his own devices. What you see before you is the pinnacle of techmaturgical engineering! I am the epitome of technological superiority! I have converted my own body into a system of varying mechanisms, each superior to what you lesser life forms are capable of! I advise you to simply welcome your destruction, for it was inevitable and you have the honor to meet it at the hands of the Machine Herald!"
Before the nanites could reach her eyes, Phi quickly leveled her own rifle and fired a few accurate shots at the two escapees before being blinded. She was slowly working against the hive mind of the machines to stop the attack, but because of the fact that TNS-4 also had control of them, she would likely be busy for a while.
The alpha wolf charged after the two, now acting of it's own will. Rather than try to fight off the nanomachines, it would outspeed them. It aimed itself after Garth, taking a few long strides before leaping to tackle the boy.

Garth noticed the other scientist had joined in the attack and sighed. Why? He told TNS-4 to not harm her, but now they had every right to defend themselves. At the sight of her preparing a rifle he shouted out to TNS-4, "Watch out! She has a gun too!" The young man dove behind a rock right as the gunshot sounded. He heard the bullet slice through the air where he was, but wasted no time jumping back to his feet and continuing his retreat. He heard the sound of mechanical footsteps behind him, and closing fast!
The symbol on the mana converter began to glow a bright blue as Garth focused his mana into the barrel of his rifle. He turned and saw the mechanical hound leaping right at him. Well, this time he had a surprise of his own! The barrel of his LS-457 would glow bright blue before discharging a shotgun blast of mana. The blast launched many sharp shards of mana within a ten foot cone in front of Garth. However, this shotgun blast would be most effective within five feet of Garth, which the alpha wolf was well within that optimal range.
Furthermore, the sheer recoil knocked the aspiring detective back five feet from the Alpha wolf, and the Zaun scientist behind it. As the two escapees would approach the crest of the rocky formations, they would see some individuals, dressed similar to Garth approaching. The young man waved them back to a caravan not far behind the approaching group, "Get back to the caravan! Hurry!" He yelled at the group, who did not question his orders and began to make their way back to the caravan.
Zaun science is killing far more than its saving. I want to put a stop to that!
Viktor, not bothered in the slightest by the nanomachines which were attempting in vain to penetrate his defenses, simply followed after the two young men. He didn't really need to see them to know where they were, his mind had already predicted their future movements and he knew all too well that they would be attempting to retreat to the very edge of the city in order to escape to the sanctity of Piltover. He couldn't allow that to happen, no matter what he had to stop them.
"You can run all you want, it shows your cowardice and your immaturity all too well! Not only are you ignorant to the world around you, but you are also weak and refuse to stand your ground to accept your destruction like real men!" He taunted them as he made his course to tail them, as his entire body coursed with enough energy from his Power Augment to drive away the tiny machines that had become a nuisance to him. Doubtless the energy itself would interfere with the machines' functionality, as it surged and arced about the Herald's form in a manner reminiscent of an electrical current.[/b]
"How suitable of those who wish to join the trash that populate Piltover. A city full of cowardly fools would be perfect for the likes of you!" He didn't make any further attempts to attack at this point. He felt that his words were enough to assault the two boys' pride enough to either anger or discourage them. "Unless you have enough wisdom to reconsider my offer. I am more than willing to destroy your designs if you refuse to use them to the benefit of the Glorious Evolution, but I am not so unreasonable as to not give you one last opportunity to change your mind. Such technology would be a welcome addition to the future I will realize."
