"War. What is it good for?"
"There may never be an answer. But there sure as hell is a reason why I have to be part of it:"
‘I must study politics and war that my sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy.’
"If only there was a much better solution. But alas, not everyone will resolve conflicts peacefully, as these Noxians have shown. All the violence, the bloodshed… it really does hurt me to think that I might have to be part of the violence myself if I ever hope to see the day war no longer exists on Runeterra herself… but that’s not important now. I’ve told my parents to get their family out to safety while I get in the main battle in the center. I’m not too sure I’ll even make it through… but if I don’t do anything, I might as well have never come here in the first place."
"Well, up to this point I’ve only witnessed the non-combatant parts of the war, and they’re horrific enough: attacking and killing civilians was against the convention, I thought! But at least those bastards were easy to take on; after all, when you’ve only been executing weaponless ‘enemies,’ it’s a whole different story to fight one on even terms, much less when the enemy’s got a weapon that outclasses yours. But now, -I’m- going to be the one who’ll be fighting equal and possibly stronger enemies for the first time."
"But then again, they don’t have the same level of technology as me, thanks to good old Mark. I still remember the moment that led me to name this rifle here after you, but even though it’s been 3 years since I last saw you, it feels like you’re always with me wherever I go. And now, I need you more than ever…"
"…Mark, if there’s one thing I want from you, it’s this: don’t fail me now!"
-Jonathan Xiang-Lewis, before the battle that would be called the ‘Great Stand at the Placidium’
War is a terrible thing to happen to any nation that wishes peace, and Ionia is no exception. Throughout the first week of June, Noxus has been marching its way to the capital of Ionia, the Placidium, and should they capture it, Ionia would almost be certainly forced to surrender, and with it lose its sovereignty. All over the country-side, Noxus has been on a rampage, committing unspeakable war crimes, aided by the ruthless Zaunite mercenaries Noxus has hired.
However, Ionia has not chosen to go quietly, and the Ionians have thus mobilized, preparing to make a final stand at the capital itself; it is now widely believed that the battle for Ionia will be won or lost here in this great city. However, Noxus, having yet to lost a battle, is confident with its capability to take the capital, and has thus, finally launched its offensive designed to capture the Placidium; already there is intense urban and street fighting raging on in the main streets, as the Noxians slowly, but surely, push their way into the main square, where the main Ionian force is being congregated. Thus, the battle that would become known as the 'Great Stand of the Placidium' is already under-way.
It is at this time that Jonathan, or Jon for short, whose identity at this point is unknown to anyone around him, has found himself, at the edge of the great city, preparing to make his way to the center, where the main Ionian force has centered itself, and plans to commit to a final fight, should it be necessary. At this time, 22-year-old Jon is far less armed than he is today: with only his scoped M1, his hextech revolver, and his medical satchel, he looks completely out of place here, especially wearing his Piltover Patrol uniform.
However, as no one around here is paying close attention, and since Jon removed all the patches that would otherwise have identified himself as a member of the patrol, he is otherwise unknown to any force here. Coming from Piltover to ensure his extended family stays safe, he has already told his parents to go to their extended family and move them out of harm’s way. Meanwhile, Jon himself has resolved to get into the main fight, and so begins to enter the city, his destination the main square.
It is here that his memory, and the memories of the others who fought in this epic and horrific battle, begins. Now, re-live the “Great Stand at the Placidium” as it went down through the veterans’ own eyes…
((Essentially, this is a 'Flash-back RP': the event here has already happened, but what exactly happened, with all the minor details and what not, will be RP'ed out in this thread. Also, as stated, this is a closed RP; if you wish to participate, send me a PM and we'll talk from there.))
