Another day, another recruit. Tahlem strolled through the Demacian streets to a grand square. A small booth was situated near a grand fountain and the sun beamed down brightly today. From here anyone would have a perfect view of the castle. " What a perfect day." He said out loud while taking a seat. He shuffled recruitment forms and stacked them neatly on the table, ready for men to show up. Most of the time it was a reenlistment for a solider who served his three years and bugged out. Then, feeling some Demacian pride, decided to enlist again.
Though at times it was those who did not live in the City-State who enlisted, wanting to live here or seeking some fame on a battlefield. They usually had more useful skills than some common man, and he would welcome such soldiers into their ranks if they pass their training.
Tahlem leaned back and waited. Those who wished to sign up or talk to him may find him out in the open easily, a chair on the other side of the table..

Jarvan was wandering the beautiful streets of Demacia. The sun was out and it was the perfect time to take a stroll. He spots the recruitment booth and saunters up to it, fully clad in his trademark golden armor. He places his hands on the back of the empty chair and leans into it a little. "Trying to get more men to join the military I see. Any luck today general?"

Tahlem looked up from examining a form to find the Prince has visited his booth. He was caught by surprise, but, better to not admit to being caught unaware. Before speaking, he placed the feather pen back in the inkwell and stood up. He slammed a fist against his chest-plate and bowed.
" Prince Jarven, it is an honor." He then resumed an upright posture and sat back down, folding his hands on the table.
" Just a few reenlistments and not much more. I am hoping for some well know folk to fight for us but....its unlikely." He sighed. His gaze drifted down to the small stack of filled out forms then back up at the prince. " May i ask your opinion on Noxus pulling its support from the League? I admit, that is a reason i set this booth up. Another being the Void encroaching from the mountains." He shook his head and leaned back in his chair.
" The days ahead may not be as bright and beautiful as today."

Jarvan nodded as Tahlem spoke. "It seems we are short handed because the men are fearing for their lives. It is obvious a war is on its' way. No matter, I can be quite persuasive. I am sure if I stayed here I could get a few more recruits in."
He then scoffed when Noxus was mentioned. "Swain is a coward." He says Swain's name with the utmost disgust. "He is probably forming some sort of sneak attack, they may even be joining forces with the void. I am highly suspicious of them, they didn't send a single man to assist the League when we traveled to Icathia." He then pounds his fist on the table in anger. "We lost a summoner and nearly everyone was wounded."
He calms himself and rubs his temples. "Yes, getting together a larger military is the right thing to do. I worry if Demacia is safe from what is to come."

" With them out of the League...they can build their army to unrestricted proportions. We may need to consult your father about this."
Tahlem sat silently for a moment, almost like he is putting something together in his mind. " They do not send help, they pull from the League, and they harbor beasts from other dimensions. They ARE up to something I- ...oh my apologies. Have you heard about The Butchering yet?" Tahlem reaches into his pocket and pulls out a rolled up piece of paper, setting it on the table. He unrolls the paper and passes it over to The Prince. Upon it there would be a picture of Draven in the arena and words advertising the "Grandest Show yet!" with the words "The Buchering" in bright red.

"I...I would like to re-enlist, please." Gillam stepped out from a nearby alleyway, fully clad in his armor, and holding his lance at his side. his buckler was strapped to his back, and his short sword was sheathed at his side.
"I must repay the terrible misdeeds I have done upon this city-state, and with Noxus growing stronger by the minute, I feel it is my duty to fight for Demacia once more."
"No matter the era, I am Demacian, through and through."
The Prince scoffs again at the mention of the butchering. He snatches the paper Tahlem pulled out and reads it with a scowl. "Vile Noxians, using the slaughtering of man as entertainment." He crumples it up in anger. "They shouldn't be allowed to do things like this."
Jarvan notices Gillam approaching and he clears his throat. "Ah Sir Dunwall, I knew you would re-enlist." The prince approaches Gillam and places a hand on his shoulder. "Any true Demacian feels the duty to protect their homeland." He then leads Gillam to the empty chair and has him sit. "Make yourself comfortable."

Tahlem nods when the Prince comments. " The worst part is that the beast, Re-" Tahlem cuts it off short when Gillam approaches. He had heard all about how he was frozen..interesting tale he would like to hear sometime. He and the Prince would continue afterwords.
He folds his hand on the table and smiles. "Sir Dunwall, I knew a piece of ice could not freeze away Demacian spirit. Though you may find policy has changed since you were last in service." Tahlem reaches over and takes an empty form from the stack, turns it around, then slides it over for Gillam to read. The paper will ask for the basics....current residence, how long he served previously, next of kin. The basics. Next to him will be an inkwell with a feather pen and the Prince and Tahlem ready to answer any questions he may have.
"I am General Tahlem, Sir Dunwall. So tell us..why the change of heart?" He asks intrigued. It was strange to recruit a man from the past, but perhaps he will come in handy. Tahlem awaits to know what skills the man has. Obviously a sword for one.

Gillam saluted the two men, then proceeded to take a seat in the empty chair. As the general began speaking, Gillam filled out the form. "As you may know, I was frozen because I deserted. A decision I regret to this day..." Gillam paused briefly, as a single tear rolled down his cheek.
He continued. "Re enlisting is the only way I can gain my honor back, and make sure the Dunwall lineage was not remembered for my past deeds. And also, I want to stop Noxus. The only Noxians I ever knew were enemies, and I believe Demacia has the power and the right to end their reign of terror once and for all."

"It was in the heat of the battle...my comrades were dying, the enemy was advancing without any break in their lines...it was too much for me to handle...and my mom..." Gillam p's words were choked up now, as another tear ran down his face, but his face still remained stone cold.
"My mother told me...she wanted to see me back home in one piece...and I didn't want to die against her wishes. I...I hope she passed away happy. I could not stand to see her sad, never..."
"No matter the era, I am Demacian, through and through."

Tahlem sat there thoughtfully. This man broke his code, the one he swore to uphold. But... he payed the price. His family died away with no heir, his comrades fallen, the Dunwall name a complete disgrace. The price for breaking such promises he remembers all too well. Fighting for the Ionians to save his sister who fell to war despite so...returning to be prosecuted and punished for breaking the oath.
But he rose from those ashes, and he will never break such promises to his home city again. Perhaps this man suffered enough. Though the Prince would have his opinion on this too.
" Prince Jarvan, what is your opinion on this?"

Jarvan watched as the men spoke. When Tahlem asked of his opinion he crossed his arms deep in thought. He took a moment to gather his thoughts, careful to make the right decision. "I will give you the chance to prove your worth and bring honor back to your family Gillam. I remember a dear friend of mine breaking his oath, but he returned anew." He looks at Tahlem and smiles warmly. "A man should not be convicted by a single deed. Sometimes things must be done even if it means breaking away. You shall not be persecuted for your past actions."
The prince then takes the enlistment paper and hands it to Gillam. "Show Demacia you can protect her, and your family's name shall be restored."
A small, black feline would wander towards the gathering of people quietly. She would easily be missed in the bustle of people, but some might take notice of the odd ornaments adorning her body. A petite head dress that sat about her ears gently, with a matching bracelet around one front leg, and a ring around her tail, all in gold. Iredescent green eyes lifted to the group with a gentle mew. The golden marks against the front of her forehead, and the gentle outlines around her eyes appeared to be the natural color of her fur, contrasting the solid black that coated the rest of her body.
She would wait no further, hopping up atop the recruitment table and settling down quietly over some stack of paper. It appeared she was content to settle there, and take a cat nap as the others talked amongst themselves.

"Thank you, sir." Gillam said, just as he finished signing the last part of the recruitment forms. "So, when is the first call to service?" Gillam asked. "Also, what would my current rank be as of now?"
As the cat hopped on top of the table, and Gillam began to stroke her fur, continuing to talk. "I was a corporal, but the ranking system would have been changed by now, right?"
"No matter the era, I am Demacian, through and through."
