With all the troubles lately, it was no surprise to see an increase in the amount of guards around the city but it made almost no difference to Galio. Be peaceful or agitated times, his job was to protect demacia and he gladly did it everyday by watching over different places of the city. Today prince Jarvan would stand at the east gate so the sentinel's sorrow thought it was a good idea to split up and watch over the docks by himself.
"I hope he doesn't have to deal with any trouble."
Thanks to the decoration on most of the high buildings in demacia, Galio could easily stand in one of them and look all over the place pretending to be a simple gargoyle. Most of the time it would work and no one would notice they are being observed by a champion of the league. Some kids were able to easily find him, he never understood why, but they would just wave their hands at him and keep walking like nothing happened. The sentinel's sorrow wasn't able able to find a reason for why the kids were so fond to him. Most likely because he looked like a large toy or maybe because he had a father-like nature like some of the women from the nobility said but that was quite unlikely.
"You damn rat!"
Galio quickly left his thoughts behind as a the yells of someone brought him back to the real world. His eyes easily found the source of the commotion as he saw a pair of yordles fighting each other just thirty meters behind the guard post.
The golem jumped from the high tower he was standing and flew towards the little fighters, stopping the quarrel even before the guards arrived, as he lifted them up the ground, one with each hand.
"Could someone... tell me what's going on?" Asked the league champion politely and a bit confused.
"He lost it! He lost it! He just lost it!" Yelled one of the yordles while throwing kicks and punches towards Galio, obviously in an effortless attempt thanks to his shorts arms and legs.
The other creature just glared at his companion, without saying a single word. The guards had reached the place a few seconds ago and were just as confused as the stone being was. He left a big sigh and handed both yordles to the men before telling them what to do.
"Just go and interrogate them. Make sure they are not up to something dangerous and let them go in three hours"
"Sir, yes sir!" Answered the guards before leaving to the office they had near there while carrying the suspects as if they were their pets.
Galio observed them go away through the streets just before glance towards the ocean. The sound of the waves could almost not be heard behind the uproar caused by the passengers who started to fill most of the docks.

Dani was wandering today, all over Demacia in fact. Fiora had sent her away for free time after getting called for paperwork. She wandered through the castles, the courtyards, the market places and who knows where else. Eventually she reached the dock where she found guards leading Yordles away. Looking aside, she found Galio, a citizen of Demacia and League Champion. Dani immediately perked up.
"Galio! Hai! Its me, Dani!" She grinned laughing, while waving madly.

The Dead Pool docked into the docks of Demacia. Gangplank had seen the smoke coming from the city well before they had arrived. Seeing the city so badly damaged had confirmed the rumours of an invasion. A failed one, as the the city and it's inhabitants still stood. Relatively speaking.
Something about seeing the once shining city of Demacia in ruin brought a smile to Gangplanks face. Demacian's were always so self -righteous in their draconian approach to law and just loved to punish those who weren't, such as himself. Seeing their city wrecked would certainly bring them down a peg, something Gangplank would look forward too.
The dock was a hive of activity. Ships were leaving with people seeking new lives that had lost all they had, while others who were long stuck outside of the city were finally being let back in. Plenty of merchant vessels as well, eager to sell to the desperate Demacian people. Perfect time to restock his supplies from the long voyage.
He wanted to leave Demacia as soon as possible. While some would see returning these women as a kind and noble thing, it would cause some questions to be asked, ones that would tie him back to Swain and Noxus.
went to find Scrod. HIs decision to bring him had turned out to be wise as the old man had made the trip more enjoyable for everyone. Well except one.
He found him where he always did, fishing off the deck of the ship. "Fetch Scrod and tell him to get the lasses ready. We've arrived.
Cheap boarding. Unpainted. She wasn't even sure if it was wood. She was pretty sure it was wood, but at this point she didn't particularly trust that analysis. Over the course of what felt like a grueling decade she had changed her mind several times on the matter. She knew for a fact though, however, that she also didn't particularly care. It was smooth and that was pretty much all that mattered. If it weren't smooth at the start of her journey it was by now considering her forehead had been pressing steadily harder against the surface the past hour. She had considered opening her eyes, but chose to remain feigning sleep. Observing her surroundings only served to further her agitation. The addition of visual stimuli to her other heightened senses would only intensify the adrenaline pumping through her veins. That, coupled with her inability to react as well as her already rather sour temperament was quite a poor combination. She was so close. She was mere moments away. A deep breath as she relieved the steadily mounting pressure against her head. She held the air within her lungs, slowly exhaling through lightly parted lips. Merely arriving in Demacia was one thing. Arriving in Demacia with so many unanswered variables and distinct lack of intelligence was another.
It was obvious long before they had stopped moving. This journey had proven to her that she was neither talented nor cut out for such a life; but their arrival was clear even to one as incompetent as herself. Pirates, despite being defined by their unruliness and unpredictability, formed habits and routines. The absolute destruction of the pattern set while they were at sea was the first indicator. Pirates, it seemed, were incapable of speaking quietly- babbling about like a gaggle of schoolgirls about just about everything; yet the topic at hand was quite different. Whispers of destruction. Of war. An invasion. She considered risking her cover and questioning one of the men with any of her repertoire of skills whether it be those taught by her father... or her sister. The risks and the fact that her prey most likely wouldn't have a clear picture anyway put her off that idea. The final clue that all but announced their location were the sounds of city life. The sounds of other cargo being moved about- of heavy boots host only to those clad in military garb.
The others were stirring. It wouldn't be long. Her fingers danced along the hem of her skirt. Digits pressing into her flesh as she strained against her desire to move; organizing her thoughts as she mustered the last of her patience. Her attempts to piece together the various bits of information led from one implausible conclusion to another. Her eyes pressed tightly together, her brows furrowed. Noxian invasion was highly improbable, considering her mission and the delicate web being weaved. This move was too heavy handed- yet none other on Valoran would have reason. No others would dare; which left only those not native to their continent-
"Nightmares?"
Her eyes flashed open, brilliant cerulean spheres igniting in the darkness as those words reached her ears at the same time as a gentle touch upon her tensing muscles. She had delved too deeply into her thoughts. Had she forgotten even the basics? The thought flashed across her mind of just blaming Swain. Of course it was his fault. A stupid plan to begin with. She cleared her throat, feigning a smile as she turned towards her peer. An apologetic expression on her face as she nodded.
A soft embrace. One that she returned. She hated herself. Not just because the gesture somehow felt pleasant, but also because if this had happened when she first boarded the girl would be dead. Had she merely adapted to the role? Or were her skills deteriorating. Her heart thumped, the rate slowing down as she gradually calmed herself. So this is what it took now? Please. She pulled back, looking back towards the girl's face. A slightly murderous glint briefly passing on her visage- one that went by unnoticed to the innocent girl. She shifted her glance deeper into the hold before flickering it back towards the entrance. All of them dead in but an instant. She patted the worn bedding besides her as she sat up, offering the girl a seat as they waited for the inevitable appearance of their keeper. A smirk grew on the blonde's face. The moment of wavering confidence was merely that. She was one of the three blades of Noxus.
She was Katarina. The Sinister Blade.

Quinn had gone back to her family, with a spark nestled deep in her pouch she now slung around her shoulder and tucked into her vest. The golden pauldrons had been removed, set aside, and the helm too had been discarded. She saw her house, not untouched by the corruption and as she set her brother's body in front of her parents, she watched them weep while the emotion raged beneath her still frame. They had taken him, buried him once more with the rest of their family, spilling fresh soil back on his rotting corpse and they had said another prayer. Two funerals for one person. A day and night spent with her only remaining blood, bandaging them up and faking a smile and a nod as her mother begged her to serve Demacia well in her brother's stead. Her father too, holding his splintered arm with pride, nodded at her. Proud that she had been there to defend their city.
Though it was then did she almost break, but she refused. Another night, and she left, promising to return soon. With the spark and Valor, she had company a plenty and she spent her days wandering the city. The various shops, talking with people she knew and mourning for the people who were no longer with them. It almost seemed funny to her, but she couldn't very well say it out loud. Any information she had gathered would be taken to the Shadow of War... in due time. After all, Quinn had not yet discarded her habit of writing her thoughts down in her precious journal.
Beneath the simmering mask of politeness and pleasantness, the Wings of Demacia were all but badly torn and damaged, from the invasion and from everything else beyond it. She saw the wreckage and ruin and now that it was light, with the sun streaming across broken cobblestones and liquid splattered buildings, she realized that there was nothing so grand about the city now. She persisted, avoiding contact with anyone she truly knew and made her way to the harbor. Ships of all shapes, colors and sizes were docking and departing - men waving their wives and children away, perhaps to somewhere safer (because the Shining City was no longer safe) and rugged soldiers who would dedicate themselves to rebuilding the city. The epitome of a good citizen.
Quinn felt her jaw clench, her teeth grinding against each other. She gripped a fist and Valor took wing, to the skies with his sharp eyes scanning the horizon. Her own subtle judgment saw fit to see no ship as 'suspicious', but the soft vibration within her pouch told her otherwise. Though she didn't know what she was meant to be looking for, she knew it was close. Something she could use, and something he would find interesting. Her eyes landed on a familiar looking one, however. One she had seen in paintings, heard about in small lessons and read about in her books. What was the infamous Saltwater Scourge doing here, of all people?
He had given her no reason to suspect him, but that was exactly why she was. Her whisper to Valor was heard, plain and simple: scout.

Nautilus slowly rised from the water slighty, but not that noticeable to not make all the people in the docks scared of him,he saw what was going on...alot of people were leaving on ships, and the city was in ruins...hm...what happened?
Someone could easily notice his anchor if they paid attention, but still nautilus didn't rose from the water, waiting for an order from Gangplank.

Gangplank felt his mood sour at the lack of Scrod's presence. What was keeping the man?
He heard the rumbling foot steps of the Titan behind him. Nautilus was always eager and wiling for guidance. He reminded himself that we would help the former man after this whole Swain business.
"Go and see what be taking Scrod so long." he told Nautilus.
He watched the people of Demaica sucrry around the docks, going about there business. He wanted this representative to hurry up and arrive. Scrod's tardiness was already grinding his patience and he didn't sail all the way around Valoran to be held up by some Demacian.

(( Just made the post quick since I screwed up and was late to the thread. Sorry about everything lol ))
Snoring. That's what one could hear if they listened closely. If one were to trace the sound to its source they would find several empty bottles of rum, whiskey and other booze scattered around Scrod as he laid there, slumped against the mast in the crows nest, reeking of alcohol.
A vulture that happened to be flying overhead looking to feast on the carnage that was left in Demacia swooped down into the crows nest. It cocked it's head oddly at the sleeping fisherman, unsure of whether or not he was dying or not, and decidedly began pecking at his head.
"Ah! What in tarnation!? Quit it, I aint no snack you damned buzzard!" Scrod yelled out at the scavenging bird as he sprung to his feet, startling the vulture and causing it to take flight.
After the rude awakening of the vulture one could easily say Scrod was quite 'pissed off' especially after watching his next action. In a blur of motion, Scrod drew one of his pistols, shot the vulture mid air, and re holstered it. "Damn birds..." he thought irritatedly to himself. He climbed down from the crows nest and found his way to Gangplank after gathering up all the girls from below deck.
"Uh, mornin'. Reckon' it's my own fault for draggin' ass. That and I didn't think we'd be gettin' here so quick-like..." he added as he took out a cigar and lit it trying to play off his obvious tardiness as no big deal.

Quinn continued to patrol the area as nonchalantly as possible, talking with some of the locals when they spared her the time whilst constantly on the lookout for Valor. There was much he could see, but what he saw was not what she wanted as he returned to relay the information back to her. There were people on board, and the ship was rather well guarded. She could sneak on if she so desired to, but it would be a dangerous game and a risk she was not willing to take just to sate the flame. She thanked the woman she had been conversing with before turning to make her steady way back towards the city.
However, she glimpsed a ripple in the water, catching it just in the corner of her eye. Quinn pivoted on her heel quickly; there it was again. It was too clean and constant, and something began to emerge. Something large and round, sinister. She wanted to look a little more closely but the second she attempted to do so, the entire figure rose to the surface and onto land. Quinn blanched - what was Nautilus doing here, in Demacia? Why were all of these people here? She frowned as she watched Gangplank bark something, his words drowned by the bustle of the people around him. It appeared he was waiting for... well, whatever it was, it was trying his patience.
Quinn looked on, at first unable to decide what to do. She wanted to know why these people were here, but she didn't think it warranted her attention. Still, it could be useful and at this point, anything was necessary. The blast of a gun startled her, Valor spreading his wings with a low screech. She turned to the boat just as a shadowed figure, avian in shape, dropped straight down. Another frown reached her. Time began to tick, almost audibly, as she waited. From the boat came a relatively sea worn looking male with what looked like a train of girls in... uniform?
The spark began to grow hotter, pressing against the side of her pouch almost excitedly. Here, Quinn was almost tempted to say it felt a little... perverted. But there was something more. The ranger edged a little closer, her eyes on the maids carefully. They all looked a little worn, but they didn't seem to be unhealthy in any way. Dark, golden hues fixated themselves one at a time, each female studied and memorized, their faces filed away for future contemplation. Blonde hair and blue eyes; how utterly Demacian. Many of the aristocrats were born with blue eyes whilst the commoners ranged from green to brown.. and variations of.
It was then did Quinn decide to take matters into her own hands. She didn't know why Gangplank was here but she would certainly find out. She took careful steps towards the pirate, though one girl in particular threw her a little off, her eyes constantly reexamining the face as if it was not quite right. She clenched her fists, turning to the Saltwater Scourge, her body straight and confident with Valor perched right upon her shoulder. "Is there a problem here, sir?"

((Hope ya dont mind me crashing the party Quinn))
Fiora leaned against one of the more stable buildings, an uncaring look on her face as usual. She had her arms crossed as she watched more supplies being unloaded from the ships. She was tasked with making sure nothing went wrong, much to her shock. Of all the people they sent, they asked Demacia's most notorious Duelist.
"Its just for caution, Lady Laurent. Please understand." The letter had read, although she was certain they could have found others to do this job.
Her interest piqued a little noticing Gangplank here, it seems the man was busy with other things, without noticing her presence. He seemed quite frustrated and in quite a hurry as well. She was about to make a move when /of all people/ Quinn, Demacia's Wings approached the Scourge.
"Is there a problem here, sir?" She heard Quinn ask. Fiora's hand trailed slightly to her rapier, a force of habit for herself. She quickly folded her arms again, shaking her head. No one would think of challenging Demacia, even in the state it was in currently. Her eyes trailed over to the waters and a sudden realization hit her.
"Zat is..." She muttered to herself, eyes widening as she noticed the anchor. The Titan of the depths, was he here with Gangplank? Fiora's eyes quickly moved back to Gangplank and Quinn. She was alert and ready now, watching the two of them intently.

Gangplank shook his head at the older man's response. It had taken 3 weeks to get here and he thought it was quick? Man had a strange sense of time. Might of been the alcohol, might have been his age...or maybe it was both. Had done well the whole trip, so he would let hie tardiness slide.
"Yar! Well don't ye' worry Ol'timer. We still have another month of sailing tah' get back. Plenty of time tah' snooze and shoot buzzards."
Quinn's call only served to irk his already salty mood. The girl had been fairly new to the League before it went into hiatus. A commoner trying to be like one of the high class. He didn't care to much for Demacians and she was no exception.
He looked down on her from the dock of his boat. He pulled on orange from his coat and bit the skin off with his teeth. He then spat the skin out, the discarded piece landing close to the falconer. He answered her with his mouth full of orange, not showing the slightest ounce of respect or care.
"Not at all lassie, everythin' be fine here. I be makin' an expected delivery of these fine lasses to tah' Crownguard residence. No need tah report me to yer' little princelin."
He knew the girl respected the prince very much. Poking her with him should make a fun reaction.
"So what brings tah' high and noble Demacian to me ship? Inspectin' me' cargo? Or do ye' like the sight of lasses?

The titan was about to do what Gangplank told him, until Scrod arrived as soon as he was about to see what was wrong with him taking so long.
He saw as Quinn got close to Gangplank to talk to him...surely what he was doing here...he still kept an eye on her..and he also saw Fiora near too...back on the fields of justice, her ego was too annoying even to him...

The Demacian falconer's face remained impassive, the snark passing by her without a second thought. "Why, did you steal them?" She asked, and though she betrayed nothing, her tone was biting. Because as much as she hated it, it was still insulting. Moreso the comment about her preferences than about Prince Jarvan twisted her nerves, but even more when Gangplank claimed her of noble blood. She bit the inside of her cheek lightly, her leather gloves pulled against her skin tightly as she squeezed her hands.
Quinn's eyes narrowed and she exhaled sharply, "I like the sight of you less than the sight of 'lasses'," her gaze flickered briefly to the girls, again lingering. What for? The spark was calling to her, frustrating slipping between the thin flames as the heat licked the side of her pouch. She could feel it burning. The ranger took a step forward. "If that's all you're here for," she continued smoothly, her amber eyes boring upon the Scourge's with an emotion akin to apathy, "Then I will take them off your hands. I am certain your presence shall not be missed."
Respect? She didn't ask for it, nor did she command it. She felt a presence behind her, someone watching their exchange - perhaps someone from the city, but for now Quinn did not look. It would be in poor form for her to turn her back on someone as dishonest as the pirate. Ironic, really.
Post by thegrandduelist on May 28, 2013 21:39:58 GMT -5
Fiora did not make a move, if this was merely delivery then she was sure Quinn could handle this herself, without the Duelist's intervention. Of course, if anything did happen then Fiora herself would have to step in(As little as the problem was.) For now however she was charged with making sure the other imports were arriving safety and to watch the two of them interact was a change of pace, even if the comments Gangplank were making were enough to make Fiora shift her look over to the Scourge, giving him a slight glare.

"Steal them? Har! I be a pirate, not'ah kidnapper. I steal peoples things, not tah' people themselves."
Gangplank smirked to himself as he saw the rangers annoyance with him grow. He knew there was little love for him here, so why try to make a good impression? They had already made up their minds about him. He took another bite of his orange, spitting another piece of it's skin out.
"Take them if ye want. I was only paid tah' brin' them here. The be not me problem no more."
He motioned for Scrod to give the girls to Quinn. He gave a subtle smirk to the outsider of the group.
He agreed with one thing she said. He wanted to leave here as soon as he could. But it would be another month of sailing to reach Noxus and the extra mouths had eatten through there rations. He doubted he would find enough here, he would have to go to Zaun to get more.
"ALRIGHT LADS!" he yelled to his crew. "STOCK UP ON SUPPLIES, WE BE IN FER' ANOTHER LONG VOYAGE, AND TAH' OLD SEA BE AS CRANKY AS ME MA." WE MAKE SAIL AT FIRST LIGHT TOMORROW."
With his orders given, he grabbed one of the ropes hanging from his ship and swung onto the docks, landing next to the falconer. He gave her a mocking bow, complete with mocking grin and went to find some supplies, his crew following him.
