It had been a week since his last encounter with the Grand General, it left a rather bitter taste in his mouth after but he was sure to fix that at the very least. He had his report and intended on delivering it. So far things had been going as expected. Daichi wore what he had since his last meeting, Raedsel like robes, the hood up and his features shrouded by darkness. He wondered if anyone else had noticed him in the background, certainly he had stuck out. Though it was entirely possible he was assumed to just be part of the Raedsel guard. With a knock on the door, he was received immediately by one of the maids. It was pleasant to see he was given swift and a proper reception, he was expected after all.
They guided him through the halls of the Darkbourne hall and directly to the library where Swain awaited him. Daichi kept himself composed, regardless of Swain's current attitude towards him.
"I hope I have not kept you waiting for long Grand General. May I take a seat?"

Politely, gracefully, eyes trained upon the carpet, the maidservants led Daichi through the twisting halls of Darkbourne Hold, their black flats silent upon the carpet and stone. When they came to an imposing set of double doors, a woman, tall, composed, strode forth and rapped upon the library's entrance. A gruff, "Enter," followed her wordless entreaty and she drew back the door, bowing low to the robed guest as he crossed the threshold.
Shelves and shelves of books lined the grand room, the ceiling of which faded into darkness above the drawn curtains and the single candle. One hand upon the desk, the other upon his cane, the Grand General pushed himself to his feet, jaw set against the arduous nature of this task. In response to his guest's inquiry, Swain indicated a pair of wing-backed armchairs by the empty hearth. "There," he intoned. Upon his pauldron, Beatrice ruffled her feathers, glared in sharp scrutiny of the guest's green-clad form.

The Library was dark, far more than what he had expected. A single candle for such a grand room. The glowing eyes of Beatrice and the candlelight. Daichi took a seat by the hearth and fell silent as he summoned a manila folder into his hands. It had a neat compilation of all his current findings, though he planned on speaking and elaborating anyway. Despite the darkness Daichi’s eyes pierced through it and though he could not see in full detail, he saw enough.
Swain was pale, his person trembling with baggy eyes. The Grand General of Noxus resembled more of Daichi’s regrettable insult towards him. He refused to show any outwardly surprise towards the Grand General’s current state.
“Before I begin, I want to give you my sincerest apologies for my treatment of you after the ceremony. It was regrettable and unbecoming. I spoke out of anger. You are among the best thing to happen to Noxus in long time, anyone who says otherwise be damned. No one has told me to say this to you, these are my own words.” Daichi would lower his hood and let his appearance be seen in full, if it could in this darkness. “I hope you can see past my attitude and that I can make amends for the entire incident that transpired. I overreacted.”

Through the apology, the Grand General's face remained impassive. Blazing eyes studied the ionian's face as he lowered his hood, concluding his attritional address. Slightly luminous, they seemed accustomed to the semi-darkness of the grand library. Their owner offered only a single, silent nod in acceptance of his informant's speech.
The words served their purpose to set the tone of this meeting, to distinguish orchestrator from agent, but no flicker of flattery crossed the general's grim features. It was time for business. Leaning heavily upon his cane, he shuffled to the second armchair, lowered himself gingerly into it and leaned his cane against the coffee table between them. His gaze flickered between the green-robed summoner and the full manila folder, its slight luminescence seeming to deepen the heavy bags beneath his eyes.
"Your report, Daichi," Swain croaked, his command weary but imperious.

"...Very well. This folder contains an extensive report of everything I've come across as of yet. Let me condense this briefly for you. Currently the institute is only now getting ready to send a large group to defend the Northern lands against the Void. The institute recognizes Renekton as a Noxian citizen, however they want Brand back and are likely going to meet to decide upon what course of action they will be taking in regards to his fate." Daichi paused so that much sunk in.
"Some of the High summoners believe that once peace is re-established that Noxus will come back and rejoin the Institute. Additionally there is debate about whether or not surveillance will be done in order to ensure Noxus is not preparing for a mass invasion. This concludes my first report, the folder will go into much more detail over these matters. I will, of course, dig deeper."

Swain lifted his chin as Daichi delivered his report, responding with a grim nod at the portion about Brand. "I expected as much," he said quietly, eyes closed.
At the mention of potential surveillance efforts, The Master Tactician's eyes sprang open again, flashed briefly with revulsion, then dimmed again as his polished politician's mask reformed. "You'll keep an ear to the ground about that in particular. I want to know who, how they'll arrive and when. And," he tilted his head, "I want to know what Vessaria herself is doing." His bidding issued, Swain extended a trembling hand for the folder.

Daichi would extend the folder, passing it over to Swain. It was rather thick, despite how little Daichi had spoken to him of his task. “I understand Grand General. The task will be done efficiently and effectively. “Does this conclude our current business Grand General or was there something else that needed to be discussed?”
Daichi had something else he wanted to speak of if they were done with business. He knew full well that Swain's health was declining and if Daichi could do something of it then he would make sure that he could at least nip that matter in the bud.

The Master Tactician received the folder, laid it open on his lap and began to scan through its contents, crimson eyes ablaze. He offered Daichi a gruff nod. "That will suffice," he proclaimed authoritatively. "You are dismissed."

“Understood. However, there was something else I wished to discuss. If you would entreat me with a discussion that is...” Daichi spoke up politely, remaining in his seat as he awaited a response. He knew what he was about to bring up was a touchy matter but it was something that needed to be addressed. For Noxus' sake the Grand General was sitting in a dark Library to hide his condition.
“I apologize in advance for bringing up the matter again, but you do not look well in the slightest. I understand that…my approach before was undesirable however, if I knew more of what was going on there may be something I could possibly aid in whatever is currently ailing you.”

His jaw extended as he tongued the space between his molars in pause. The burning quality of his gaze seemed to dim, noticeable only by stark contrast to the shadows in the library. Slowly, he lifted his chin, training his gaze upon the ionian's pale face. Genuine concern read there, desire to aid, to make a difference. Curiosity, perhaps. The dying embers of the Grand General's eyes narrowed slightly.
Swain shook his head, dropping his gaze to the empty hearth in a show of resigned distaste. There was no anger apparent--but nor had there been in the carriage. He did seem to consider the cryomancer's request for a moment before he spoke, his voice a hoarse growl in the dark. "What is it you think you can offer me, Daichi?"

“While I may not be in the medical field at all, I have knowledge of how to manipulate the flow of Ki through a body and know of treatments that Noxus or Zaun may not have access to. Understand that I’m an Ex-Kinkou, I was raised and trained to know these things.” Daichi found it ironic that he knew how to manipulate but not how to cast with it. It was a horrendously embarrassing short coming. But, at least his own ability with mana casting was effective. Very effective. He saw the look in the Grand General’s eyes.
“At the very least, I can offer an effective pain killer that will offer a temporary reprieve. If there’s something I cannot do myself, I can find something that might be efficient for you need. If I prove sufficient, you may very well have what you need to put a halt to whatever it is that is ailing you. You have enough on your plate Grand General, I only wish to alleviate some of whatever is burdening you.”

At his shoulder, Beatrice cooed softly as though in simulation of human acknowledgment. The lines on the Grand General's face seemed exaggerated in the flickering light of the single candle, shadows cast by every scar, by every crease, by every pre-mature wrinkle. He frowned.
"The alleviative. How strong?" Leaning back in the armchair, Swain brought his fist to his chin in contemplation. "And what is it. Not an opiate. I must be able to function." He pursed his lips behind his shroud, awaiting Daichi's pitch.

“I have the ability to stop your body from receiving the signals that induce pain if the damage is not overly extensive. This isn’t an opiate; it’s a practice involving Ki and the manipulation of the signals that are sent through the body. Think of it as something similar to mana manipulation. There are others that can do far more advanced matters with it, even going as far as to make the effects last extensively longer, days even. If it works, you’ll be able to get your cake and eat it too.” Daichi explained.
“You will be able to function painless for a temporary amount of time. Then it will slowly seep back in. While it may not sound like much, managing pain has many benefits Grand General.”

His gaze fastened upon Daichi's face as the cryomancer spoke, completely even, abstruse but for their fiery flicker. When his informant had finished, the Grand General allowed silence to fall about the library for some moments before he replied, "I see."
He sat forward, closed the folder and laid it upon the small tea-table between them. "Thank you for your service, Daichi. You're dismissed." These final words rang authoritatively through the gloom, despite their speaker's feeble form. "Forever strong."

“The pleasure is mine Grand General. Forever strong.” He stood before giving Swain a salute at the very least. A sign that Daichi at the very least respected him and turned on his heel. He began to move out of the library, the hair on the back of his neck stood somewhat on end as he left the library.
