"...I'm feeling breakfast for lunch. A round of pancakes seems lovely right about now..." He couldn't help but laugh a little. "...And only a cheese sandwich? If money's an issue I'll gladly pay for it Sonder." He returned her smile.
"And...you're quite welcome." His eyes drifted back to the sleeping man once more and then he noticeably shrugged before looking back to Rose. "How does anyone just sleep like that? Maybe he had a long walk here?"

"Pancakes-? ...sure, I'll have the same." Her smile widens as he looks back to her- she hadn't been certain of his motives, but it seemed they were decent. In general, this Ionian man seemed nice; he hadn't even rebuked her for what she'd done with his wallet.
"I guess so- though it seems strange that a noble would have to walk somewhere, doesn't it?" She'd always imagined nobles as taking carriages everywhere- but perhaps it was an incorrect impression.

(why you no skype?)
"...Oh. I'm not talking about the fact he might walk everywhere but more of the fact that he's...well..." He paused and thought. "...I guess he's just an eccentric. Who knows?" He shrugged and then properly waited for a waitress, hands folded after he placed the menu down.
"...And good. I'm glad I influenced you." He let out a light laugh.

(I- suppose it hadn't occurred to me ^^; I've been having something of a busy morning with C. He's ill, today)
Sonder lowers her voice, leaning in just slightly. "The hat might imply eccentricity, I think." After setting her menu on top of his, aligning their edges neatly, she leans back again, her expression slightly amused.
She's grateful for the timely arrival of the waitress, who sets down the water in front of her, and the tea in front of Daichi. "Have you decided on your orders?" She smiles in a way that's polite and professional.
"Ah-" Sonder looks briefly to her companion, wondering if he'd rather order first.
Post by Daichi Hamamoto on Mar 26, 2013 22:39:06 GMT -5
"...A short stack of pancakes please. Black tea also." He gave his order. It was short and sweet. They'd leave the milk, cream and sugar on the side for him. That much he was sure of. Butter and syrup would come with the pancakes as well, no doubt.
His eyes shifted from the waitress to Sonder, his expression expectant. It was her turn to order after all.

"I'd also like a short stack, and, ah, just water, thanks." She smiles up at the waitress, who offers a small one in return. If Daichi was as observant here as he'd proven himself to be, then he'd notice the speed of Sonder's words- her attraction to the waitress would be visible, though not horribly so, in her demeanor.
"Two short stacks, a black tea, and a water- will that be all, then?"
Sonder looks to Daichi briefly before nodding, and, as the waitress left, he'd feel her foot against the edge of his, with a surprisingly light and hesitant touch for such a heavy, steel-toed pair of boots.

He did catch on to her look, as if she were ready to flirt. Daichi was able to read people to a certain extent; it was needed for his craft. Thankfully Rose was at least easy to read. Her answer came and the waitress nodded. “Yes. That would be all.” He answered as Rose nodded. His expression changed to curiosity when he felt her foot against him. The smile remained and he placed his own foot playfully atop hers.
Should he question her about that look? For now he decided against it. “...So where do you hail from Sonder?”
Post by Rose Sonder on Mar 28, 2013 21:32:45 GMT -5
She has to fight down a grin as his foot ends up on top of hers, and the struggle is apparent in the quirk of her lips at the corner of her smile. Not having taken the time to notice what shoes he was wearing, she thinks it might not be wise to put her foot on top of his, so she permits him to .
"Not far from here," she answers, nodding towards the Ivory Ward, the towers of which peek over the jagged rooftops of the tenements. "My-" Here, Sonder stops for the barest of pauses, as though to remember the lines of an old script, long since memorized by heart. "-parents were both summoners, so we lived just outside of the Ivory Ward. Not rich enough for the rich club, but certainly not scraping out a living."

“…The Institute of War usually has the ability to house those with needs, including Summoners.” He nodded in thought. “You said they were both summoners? What happened to change that?” Was it the withdrawal he thought or perhaps they were both gone... The thought triggered some bitter memories and reignited a faint spark in his heart.
“…I’d tell you about my own parents but it’s unpleasant.” He frowned a little. It was best to leave it at that, he doubted she would press. Though she might if tragedy came into the picture.

"They were withdrawn from the Institute when Swain pulled Noxus from the League," Rose explains simply, glad that he hadn't noticed the pause. All of her parents were still alive, but only her fathers were summoners- and she had no desire to explain that to a stranger. However accepting people might seem of her at first, that always did seem to be the turning point...
Seeing his frown, she raises an eyebrow in question. "How unpleasant- if I may ask?" She doesn't want to push for answers, if he doesn't want to give them.

A woman wearing heavily scented perfumes walked by them towards the lanky Emilio's seat. The man's top hat was tipped over his head, making him seem asleep when her footsteps made him look up and smile at her. "Why who's this saucy young trollop that I see? How much do you cost, sweetie?"
The woman let out a laugh and playfully slapped him across the face. "Oh you cad, you brute, you ruffian. I'll have you flayed, tarred and feathered."
The two joined one another in laughter, the woman took a seat and started to talk with Emilio. "So, why have you asked me to come to a...place, such as this?"
"Food's good, price is decent," he chirped back.
"Emilio you skinflint, really?"
Emilio laughed, the thin skin on his face almost translucent. "If fine, upstanding citizens such as they," he pointed at Daichi and Rose, "are willing to eat here, why should I not?"
"Because they're peasants, dear. No offense to them, really, but do they know what good food...is?" The woman narrowed her eyes, staring at Daichi. "...Is that...is that an Ionian?"
"I'm not sure, dear, does it matter? Come, let's eat in peace."
The woman resettled herself, obviously in a huff. "Oh...fine, I just...you know how I feel about those sort of people."
"...What, Ionians?"
The woman drew back, shocked. "What? No! Traitors, dear!"
We followed the dreamer through the purple hazy clouds. She could control our sense of time.

Noticing that she's being pointed at, Sonder makes an attempt to look as though she doesn't notice- a small smile betrays it, though. Fine, upstanding citizens...? I don't think he noticed my hand twitch when his watch dropped.
Their conversation seems innocuous enough- she's more than used to being called a peasant by those of higher birth; even when she had attended private school, her demeanor marked her out as someone of lower status.
It's only when the woman makes her final comment that Sonder's shoulders stiffen a little- I shouldn't have walked up onto that stage so recklessly without my hood up, she berates herself. Hesitantly, she looks to Daichi, wondering what he thinks of all this.
((Sorry about my lack of presence on Skype; stayed the night at the hosp. last night and am still here; only just got the passcode for the wifi, and I shouldn't be on Skype right now.))

Daichi raised an eyebrow at the last word, his eyes drifted towards the woman and back to Sonders who noticeably stiffened. His matron was here and this was her way of telling him that the person who had stolen from him was a Noxian traitor, and she would need to be dealt with. Daichi dismissed his look and shrugged for now. There was no sense in acting out unreasonably and making a scene.
“I was orphaned due to someone’s ambitions. It was an awful thing.” He frowned and chose for now to ignore the matter. He’ll eat with her for now, enjoy the company and the food and then would go on to business that needed to be handled. He made a mental note to avoid killing her; it seemed to him that reminding her of her place was all he would need to do after an interrogation. He wondered just how much of a hand his matron would have in this. If she truly wanted her gone she would do so, but she was often willing to take into consideration how he felt. He wondered in silence if he was too soft.
"That's terrible," Sonder answers, sympathetic, but she seems a little detached- the shock of the woman's sudden exclamation had instilled a sense of nervous anticipation in her. The way she holds herself seems a little more hesitant, now. He might not react at all, based on how he'd treated her pickpocketing. Maybe he's a rebel, as well-?
Interrupting the student's train of thought with unexpectedly efficient service, the waitress comes up to the table, and sets down a plate of three pancakes in front of each of them. "Here you are," she says, with a smile to Sonder- it brings a trace of color to her face, and it's mirrored by the other woman as she asks if there will be anything else. Almost thoughtlessly, she adds: "I'll be back with the tea in a moment."

Daichi’s expression lightened at the sight of the food. “Think nothing of it. It was a while ago… I’ve since moved on and learned from it. You learn to grow from tragedy, from other things. I will never allow myself to become as blind as the fool who committed the deed. And one day the fool himself will get his own just end, of that much I’m sure of.”
He gripped a knife and began cutting his pancakes into triangular slices with diligence and haste. “...don’t look so tense.” He commented seeing how nervous she seemed to have gotten. “...the tea should help with that if you can't calm yourself. No need to be nervous in such a light atmosphere. Right?"
