February 20th, 23 CLE
A student weaves through the crowd in downtown Noxus, her hands flickering in and out of pockets as she passes people by. A few of them notice, but by the time they have, she's another face in the crowd, little in her expression leading them to be suspicious. Her short skirt and the curves that her corset enforces would distract them from the mischief in her eyes, at any rate, which is the only real clue to her activities.
Ahead of her, she sees an Ionian man, wearing plain robes that would seem to denote a mage. There's a vague outline of a wallet in his right pocket, so she takes a chance, bumping into him from behind. It's a little more difficult to go unnoticed this way, but it gives her a chance to slip her hand into his pocket, and bring the wallet she'd seen up into her sleeve.
"Sorry," she says, smiling at him. "Wasn't paying attention, I guess~"

Daichi would feel someone bump into him as he analyzed a few wares a merchant had presented to him. They were for the most part, gaudy little trinkets that weren’t worth nearly as much as the man wanted for them. He turned and felt his wallet slip from its place, and a sudden lightness filling the once occupied spot. He had a mind to punish whoever it was…
Turning he saw a young woman, a little taller than he was. She was certainly pretty and maybe a little younger than he was. He returned her insincere smile with one of his own. Had it been a man or some gruff type he might have acted out then and there and made an example of them. But he decided he might decide to let her off easy after having a little fun.
“…Oh. Don’t worry about it hun. I’m sure you’ll pay attention next time.”

The little, dishonest smile on her face widens as the man appears to let her off the hook. Something in his expression caused her to wonder if he might not know- maybe it was the term of endearment- but she nods to him, grateful to get off without a fight.
"I'll do my best," answers the would-be thief, and turns, as though to disappear into the crowd. Did he really notice? Maybe I'm just being paranoid. She looks over her shoulder as she goes, pulling up the hood of her coat to obscure her silhouette somewhat.

She wasn’t off the hook and once she answered him he turned away and let her get a head start. Hood up, he noted her appearance. That hood wouldn’t help her much when he was literally going skirt chasing today. “…Keep your wares. I need to get my coin anyway.” He departed and trailed her, following a twenty foot distance behind skillfully. Whoever this pickpocket was, there was no chance that she could match someone of his ability. He would let her think she got ahead for now as he kept tabs.
“Just another exercise.” He blended into the crowd easily enough.

Her skirt was one that could be easily chased- it skimmed lightly over the back of her thighs as she walked, outlining the curve of her backside as she kept a quick pace. As she walked, seeing no-one behind her, she took out the wallet to examine its contents, deciding to separate the money from what she considers useless. 80 Valors-! Not a bad haul.
Daichi Hamamoto? I was right about him being Ionian, what an ethnic name. Seeing his Institute identification, she blinks. A summoner in Noxus, though...? That might not be the best idea.
It's as she's tucking the money away that she notices something else, a slip of fairly innocuous-looking paper. On it, in impeccably neat handwriting, are a few words, which startle her more than seeing the writer himself might.
'Don't look behind you, Rose.'
Her eyes wide, she decides to obey, looking straight ahead. Her pace increases by a good measure as she walks, tempted to look back, but thinking it perhaps a bad idea.

As he followed he saw his mark looking into the wallet and judging by how stiff her posture had just gotten it seemed that she had read his little note. It was a clever little thing, just a piece of paper that magically adjusted itself to the reader’s eyes. He didn’t know her name, however she did. In any case, he continued to follow her as she walked, keeping his steps in time with her pace.
The ends of his lips turned upwards into that of a mischievous smirk.

Against her better judgement, she looks back- but she still doesn't see the man in the crowd, so she ducks down an alley, hoping to escape her pursuant. She keeps her hand on the dagger in her pocket, and sneaks another glance at the paper, to see if the lettering had changed. Unless he'd planned to meet her, and had been stalking her for some time, it'd be practically impossible for him to know her name...
It hadn't changed. Having half-expected it to, she's almost as surprised by this as she was initially, but she continues down the alleyway, her strong legs carrying her quickly away from the man who followed.

She snuck into alleyway, good. He knew where this particular one went. Following “the skirt”, his little nickname for her for the time being, he moved to flank her quickly and efficiently. He waited for her to reach the other side once he arrived. He was patient in this little game of cat and mouse. He supposed he could shake her up a little bit more before he inevitably took back his wallet. A pair of garbage cans at the end of the alley way would prove useful for setting up a jump scare.
As she hit the end, the garbage cans seemingly sprang to life of their own will, falling over and making as much noise as a tin can could possibly make. However, the lids of them did not break open. While this was occurring, he waited outside of the alley on the end. It was hope that she would make a break for it and would bump inadvertently into him.

An aborted shriek issues forth from her- she claps a hand over her mouth halfway through, realizing that whomever followed her would hear the sound, and likely recognize her voice. When she turns to see the source of the clatter, though, she sighs.
I can't believe a pair of garbage tins just got me to scream. That's ridiculous... A frown twists her mouth into a slightly less pleasant shape, and she heads out of the alleyway, the hood hiding her expression- as well as Daichi. She bumps into him, again, and her eyes widen a little.
"Um- hello, again. Did you want something?" A facade of innocence paints itself onto her face, far too slowly to be taken seriously.

He stifled his own laugh as much as he wanted to bellow out. That was almost too perfect. Instead, his grin widened. She rounded the corner and he stood perfectly still and when she bumped into him he gently took her free hand with his, gripping her wrist ever lightly. His opposite hand reached into her unoccupied coat pocket and took his wallet back from her. A cheerful look upon his face the entire time.
“Quite. It feels a little lighter than it had. Would you kindly return the content of my wallet back to where they rightfully belong?” He asked kindly and clearly without even a hint of malice in his face. “
You know…I thought you said you would do your best to not bump into anyone else. But here you are, bumping into me twice in one day. In no less than fifteen minutes later. It’s rather silly miss…I don’t believe I got your name. Mine is Daichi.”

"Um-!" The hand on her wrist startles her again, and she turns, only to see the summoner who she'd stolen from. His hand had already slipped into her pocket, taking the wallet and weighing it before she had the chance to object. "How did-" A slight look of consternation crosses her features at how easily she'd been defeated.
"Good show," she admits, fidgeting with her coat's sleeve. He looks friendly, but she isn't willing to take the chance on it, and so she takes out the 80 Valors from her right pocket, handing them over with her green eyes cast down at the cracked cobblestones.
"That aside, I only bumped into you because my hood was up; I didn't see you. What about that paper, though? It had my name on it." Her eyebrow arches up, a clear sign of her suspicion.

“Just a parlor trick. It uses the reader’s name.” He chuckled lightly. “I keep it in there in case someone decides to swipe my wallet. I like to give people a good scare sometimes.” His hand was on her wrist yet and takes back his wallet as well as the 80 valors.
“And thank you. It was quite the good show.” He smiles with self-satisfaction. “I’ll admit though. It was a good effort on your part. You did everything right, but you could have been a lot better. I think you just choose a poor target though.” He mused and released her wrist.
“Since I no longer have any desire to go browsing the Market district, would you be interested in accompanying me to an eatery? Eating alone is a bore. It’ll be on me…hmm…” He paused.

After what had just happened, she wasn't certain if giving him her name was a good idea, but then again, he had just invited her for his treat of food after she'd tried to steal his wallet. Not a bad reaction, all told. "It's Sonder," she says, giving him her surname. Should things go well, she'll offer him her first.
She addresses his first question last, in a quieter voice than she had answered the other. "And, um, food sounds good." As though on cue, her stomach growls loudly, which brings red rushing to her face, and as though to distract him from it, she tugs on the wrist he still holds.
"Anyway, where'd you get that paper? Could be useful~"

He let go on her tug and closed his eyes with a little embarrassment. “I forgot that I had gripped your hand.”
And then the other question. “Miss Sonders, that would be my own little secret. Perhaps if I knew you a little better. After all, we all have our secrets that we would like to keep.” He let out an innocent little laugh and smiled gently before walking away, turning his head to beckon her along. “I know a nice place…maybe two blocks away. You were conveniently already walking in the direction of it. Do you have a preference in what you want?"
Post by Rose Sonder on Mar 12, 2013 17:23:17 GMT -5
"Sonder," she corrects, though her tone is polite. "No preference, though~ whatever you like is fine." Half-hesitant at first, she follows him down the road, curious to see what he has planned. A summoner, hm? Interesting that he'd be in Noxus, considering how recently Swain denounced the Institute. She'd have to ask, over lunch.
