March 12th, 23 CLE
Near the furthermost edge of the Demacian noble district lied the Starr Estate. Outside stood a simple rectangular building with multiple smokestacks with an anvil and tanning rack out front. A sign on the front stated " Demacian Arms" and the sounds emanating from the inside were blacksmiths working away to create weapons and Armour for their respective buyers. Just next to it stood a large gate and wall surrounding the mansion enclosed inside.
Inside there would be a large courtyard with a stone path leading to the front door. A large fountain stood in the middle of the path, the stones circling around it so those entering may hear the soothing sound of the water. The grass of the lawn was a bright green and three oak trees lay scattered on the lawn to provide shade. The wind here was blowing soothingly around the estate from magics layed upon the place by the owner who loved the wind to always have a steady blow around his home.
The front door would be a double oak door with two parallel handles on either door and a large knocker on each to bang on the door. Carvings in the door themselves showed the wind blowing through the trees elegantly, reinforcing the owners love for the wind and the view of nature itself.
Inside Tahlem was in a silk shirt and pants, nothing too fancy nor too common. He sat in his study reading a novel and sipping from his wine waiting for his company to arrive. It would be good to catch up with Jon. The man had been quite..different since after an incident and left after the battle soon after. He was interested to hear what happened and to even tell his own story in detail.

It was later in the day, around half of two, when the venerable person formerly known only as 'Para-Medic' happened to find himself at the front of the large Estate of Tahlem Starr. Looking up at the place in wonder, he wondered why someone of his own personal wealth did not have as grand a building, chuckling to himself mentally at the thought, before entering. His signature Options, all four spheres in their ever-orange like glow, kept hovering along behind him, and his medical arms were retracted, although there were several big revelations that Jon might choose to reveal as well...
Entering the estate through the gate, he felt the wind of the area blow onto him; it was still the same Tahlem Starr he had met so long ago, he thought to himself; perhaps for today, they were still in their early twenties, full of the optimism that came naturally with humanity, still possessing the innocence that kept the young free.
For a moment, he was lost in this philosophical thought, before he snapped his mind back to the present; there was the old friend he had to meet first; reminiscences could happen later.
Watching up to the double oak doors, he swung one of the knockers, and hit it thrice. He then stepped back, and waited for a response.

A brief moment after he had knocked the door opened to reveal a fair faced servant who looked to be in her early 30s. She curtsied to him and stood aside so he may walk in. " Hello sir, i am Margaret. Pleased to make your acquaintance. " Once he walked in she would shut the door behind him and turn back to him with a bright smile. " General Tahlem is in his study and requested i bring you there once you arrive. If you may just follow me?" She said happily.
Assuming he agreed she would lead him down a main hall. The halls floor was a white tile that was cleaned daily and was lit by candles upon golden holders. Paintings were hung on either side and names under them to announce who the person was. It depicting each Starr male of the family and their occupation. It seemed most of them were wearing military uniforms. Once arriving at a oak door at the end of the hall she opened the door and curtsied to Tahlem. " Sir, your guest has arrived."
Tahlem turned his head and closed the book, setting it on the counter. " Thank you, Margaret. May you bring us a bottle of wine from the cellar please?" She nodded and quickly left the room to fetch the requested item, making sure to give Jon a small bow on her way out.
Tahlem smiled at Jon and waved his hand to the seat opposite of him. When he sat down it would be comfortable enough to almost sleep in, even the arm rests were soft like velvet. It seemed Tahlem liked to feel like he was "in the clouds" while reading. The study had large bookshelf's filled with scores of novels, biographys, and maps. " Glad you did not get lost." He joked. " How are you finding our city?"

Jon simply nodded as the servant beckoned him to follow, which he did. Entering the study, he gave an informal 2-finger salute back in response to his wave, and then moved to sit down. 'Wow, what a feeling!' He commented to himself as he sat down: he could almost fall asleep, if he did not know he was at a friend's house, not his own.
Hearing Tahlem's question, Jon replied. "Well, it is certainly a far larger city than I would have let myself believe; so many large intricately-designed buildings, it almost feels alien to the functional designs that identify Piltover. The scale and grandeur of this city-state almost were too much for me to handle when I first entered it, honestly," exuding a small chuckle at the end of it, "but I have found myself able to adapt fairly quickly."
"Which brings a question of my own... have you ever visited Piltover?" Jon then asked in return, tilting his head, and his not-yet known cybernetic eye almost giving off a hint of red.

He smiled, a gleam in his eye while Jon complemented Demacia. Demacians took pride in there city almost like it was themselves getting complimented.
" I have been told that our city is grand from other visitors. We must stand as a shining beacon of Justice and our buildings and style must represent as such. Our city is beautiful unlike Noxus..." He leaned back in his chair to relax.
Margarent returned with a glass for Jon and set it on the table, popped the bottle, and filled it and Tahlems back up. She set it down on the table and curtsied. " Do not hesitate to call me if am needed." and she promptly left, closing the door behind her. When jon asked he had ever visited Piltover he shook his head. He has really not visited many other locations and it saddened him. The "city of progress" he heard was a grand city of technology. " Sadly, i have not. I have only been to bradle and small villages outside Demacia. The other city states...are quite a mystery to me. " He picked up his wine glass and took a sip." How is the city? I have heard stories of it being a shining example of technology and advancement? Always as step above in creating more useful technologies for the whole of Runeterra. I may need to visit it some day. Especially since my pistol has been jamming and otherwise breaking down.." He reached by his chair and revealed an old hextech pistol. The same exact one he used in the Ionian war. And promptly set it down on the table.

"Indeed, Piltover is one of the most technologically advanced city-states in Valoran," Jon replied, "and with the current Parliament in session, high hopes and expectations have been placed on the city-state's progress."
"Though... now you you mention that..." stopping his talk upon seeing Tahlem's pistol brought a thought to him. He reached out from his side, and produced a revolver: the exact same revolver he had used in the Ionian war himself, which bore with it the terrible memory of the incident with the Noxian woman...
he placed it opposite of Tahlem's pistol, and left it there as well, but he did not return back into his sitting position; rather, he kept looking at the guns in his moved-up position, his mind now entering deep thought; 17 years ago, the two had met and fought together, and yet, as the memories came back to him... it seemed that only hours ago the battle had just ended.

Tahlem watched Jon produce his own pistol and set it down. He remembered it...and when it was used. The Ionian war. Gunshots. A scream. Jon was not the same after that moment and he was relatively...distant. It took words of encouragement and pleading to get him to move again.
It brought back his last stand..the last of his men that trusted him fallen. The fight that brought him his scars and almost killed him. Though..the medic saved him. He would never forgot that.
Tahlem looked at the pistols silently, in thought as well. Though, he stretched his arm over the table and placed his hand on Jons shoulder as a small comfort. It looked like his buddy needed it more than he did.
" ...Its been a long time, Jon." He said with a hint of sadness in his voice. He did not like thinking about past wars...about the men he killed...the men he lost. It was enough to make a man depressed.

Jon's memories all flooded back to him: meeting Tilly, the argument over the PoW, meeting Tahlem, the house assault and duel, the final push, the last stand, the miracle revive; it all came back to him, and Jon spent a good few minutes trying to get his mind to resolve the battles.
"...indeed, it has been a long time. And yet, it only feels like the Placidium was just liberated..." trailing off for a moment.
"...war is Hell."

Tahlem could only nod to his comment about war. It was hell. He could barely sleep sometimes if he thought about past wars...reading usually kept his mind off it. It was horrible at times...yet. Its what he did. Its what he knows how to do.
" ...Sometimes in my dreams i still hear the clanks of swords, the screams of dieing men, and the pops of gunfire." He took his hand of Jons shoulder and shook his head slowly. " War is hell...The scenes on some fields would have cured anybody of war." He sighed.
" But we live on for another day and hopefully....continued peace. As the soldier above all others prays for peace, for it is the soldier who must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war." He rests his arms on the chair arms.

Jon continued to file through his memories as Tahlem spoke, his eyes still looking at the eyes, but really re-living his past...
it was a good minute before he even spoke again.
"There's a quote I heard of one great general, long ago, which still keeps my mind from falling to the vices in war: it is well that war is so terrible, should we grow too fond of it."

Tahlem watched the medic as he sat silently. His own mind cycling through the wars and experiences he has had. Some terrible at the front-lines...others he stood in the back giving the orders.
When he spoke Tahlem nodded. " Smart man. That quote rings true even today." He fell silent thinking of something, then, put his hand on Jons shoulder again.
" You told me long ago to tell you something. If another war breaks out...never take anything for granted."

Jon's mind was still fogged up in the past, when Tahlem put his hand on his shoulder, and spoke.
'Never Take Anything For Granted.'
In a moment, his mind cleared up, his thoughts all returned, answers to his unanswered questions flooding back into his mind, the whole meaning behind his request: it all came back in the flash of clarity that came with Tahlem keeping his promise to him with that one statement, and he shed a tear out of his real eye, though his cybernetic eye emitted a small flash of red.
He finally looked up back at him, and spoke.
"Thank you, Tahlem..."
"...thank you."
It was a good minute before he spoke again. "I feel, as someone who kept on his word for such a long time, I owe you a rather new secret I have been keeping..."

He watched Jon put everything back together in his mind and the tear slide down hi cheek and Tahlem smiled. Never make a promise you are not willing to keep. Something his father told him long ago..rest his soul.
" I keep my promises for friends, Jon." Then he raised an eye when jon was going to show him a secret. " Secret? Well don't keep me in suspense." and he leaned forward, resting his arms on his legs.

Jon moved back a little bit, looking at Tahlem a bit quizzically, as if unsure whether or not to reveal his secret, before twitching his right eye, which glowed a brilliant red.
"You see... I'm now also a Cyborg. And not just any Cyborg..."
"...a Cyborg Ninja."
He kept where he was, waiting for Tahlem's response.

Tahlem stared at the red eye for a moment and just blinked. Was he gravely injured or something? But..cyborg ninja? Why would he be a ninja?
" Were you injured to need many cybernetic enhancements? Though...why are you a ninja? Er. Cyborg ninja. Stealthy enhancements, thermal sensors i assume?" He chuckled. " Though I must say...Cyborg Ninja sounds kind of ridiculous." He Looks for anything more than the eye.
" I was assuming you would have more...medical purposes and less stealthy assassination."
