February 14, 23 CLE
The Sweaty Apple is just as nasty as ever tonight- the smells of sweat and grain alcohol float in the air, and shouts of affection punctuate it harshly as Rose Sonder steps in, her coat collar up to prevent the icy air from biting at her. She finds herself a table- the same one as last time she was here, in fact- and takes off her coat, bundling it to the side and waving over a waitress. As soon as it's off, the air fills with catcalls and declarations of love, but she ignores them. She's waiting for someone, hoping that Freljord had the same holidays as Noxus.
"I'd like a Flamespitter," she tells the waitress, offering her a polite smile before leaning back, and waiting for her drink to come. If her anticipated date does, it'll be a surprise- but not too much of one. The night she'd spent in his apartment had certainly been memorable, and she had no doubt he'd come out looking for her at some point. Today of all days- well, it seemed the most likely, and three days was just enough time to leave him hanging before she reappeared.
In ten minutes, her drink arrives, and she stirs it idly before taking a sip. Its tardiness hadn't come as a surprise; it was a day of romance, and so all the horny young men in Noxus would be here, seeking a warm body to go home with. Her dagger on the table should dispel them, hopefully.
This time of year tended to be the loneliest for Nevin. The shameless flirting, people pairing up, all the acts of love. For him it was not only the realization of usually not having such a person, but not having a family period. And all those roses...heh Rose. He fondly remembered the first time he met her, as he almost mindlessly entered the bar. His attire not unlike the first time he was at the bar, save for a leather coat. Though he was used to far colder winters than Noxus, It would make him stand out even more if he didn't wear a coat.
He would make his way to the bar, just as similarly as the first. He did not bother to notice the looks the other patrons. He would order the same ale that he always ordered, not feeling particularly festive at the moment. as he waited for the bar man to fill up the tall glass, he scanned the bar for any sign of the person that would be the main reason he came there in the first post.
It would please him to see that she had taken the spot that they had been in previously. Once the tankard was filled he thanked the server, pay for the drink and make his way to the booth that Rose had taken
"It is nice to see you again, Rose. Are you expecting to be in a fight?" He said as he nmiled and nodded to the blade. In truth He always at least carried at least one blade with him himself. one can never be too careful, but he just wanted to tease her a bit.

Seeing Nevin, Rose waves to him as the barkeep fills his glass, inviting him openly to the table. It's a confirmation that she'd like him to be there, as well as a signal to the men at the bar that she's taken. I suppose assumptions of monogamy have their advantages...
It's as she looks down to take another drink that she notices the heart-shaped sprinkles on top of her Flamespitter- and when she looks to the waitress, she's given a thumbs-up. With an awkward half-smile, she returns her eyes to the Freljordian.
"Well- this time of year, y'know; people will show up to bother anyone." With a smile, she tucks the dagger back into the pocket of her coat, no longer feeling the need for it. "You remembered the table~?" It's a subtle dig, more flirtation than anything- though it carries the implication of unnecessary sentiment.
"Nice coat, by the way," she adds, before taking a sip from her drink.
He would smile and chuckle a bit. He knows all to well how...friendly people can get. He was no stranger to having to use more then a dagger to defend himself. "I wouldn't forget this table, and the memories thereafter, so soon" He said with a warm smile as he sat down, placing the tankard on the table.
He takes a quick look over his coat. "well thank you. I had this thing for a while. Plus it helps to hide a few blades of my own" He said, and took a sip of the ale. He was a bit less nervous than the first time, at least able to control himself a bit better this time.

At his mention of the night they'd shared, she blushes a little- it was more fun than she'd expected, as well as more information than she'd planned to reveal. Hopefully, he wouldn't ask about too much... but his smile is comforting, in a way, so she decides that she's willing to talk to him again.
"How many blades do you have?" Her eyes widen in mock fear as she takes a longer drink from her Flamespitter; she knows that she can trust him to not take advantage of her, an unusual quality in Noxus.
He leaned back on the seat and rubbed his chin lightly. It had been a while since he willingly told about the blades he carries with him. Usually he kept quiet about it. However he figured she wouldn't try anything, hopefully.
He leans in to the table, elbows on the table and hands clasped together. In an almost whisper he says "usually I always have 3 blades on my person somewhere. all fold-up combat blades" He pauses for a moment taking a look over the bar, and the patrons before returning his gaze back over to rose. "Perhaps I could show you, Maybe when we are not in public. It might... unnerve the people here if i start brandishing blades."

A spark of something lights in her eyes, but she nods, keeping her voice low. "That makes sense~ having mine out on the table was enough to keep most of the men at the bar away, so I don't think there's a need for you to show me yours here.
"Anyway... have you plans for the evening? I figured we could just... stay here and talk, then maybe go to dinner, if you're willing." Her gaze shifts away from his eyes, and into her lap, where her hands twisted together, expressing her sudden nervousness.
He had nodded at her question. It had been a while since he had dinner in the company of someone else since... Had it really been that long?. He seemed to have forgotten the last time he actually sat down and relaxed with someone over dinner. He noted the averted gaze, but he decided not to make light of it.
"that does sound nice Rose. I'd like that, as long as you don't mind going to dinner with 'lil old me." He commented, lightly chuckling at the last statement. He wondered If she had a place in mind to go. He was new to the town, and rarely went out anyways,

"Of course not~ if I can stay the night with you, I'd better be able to hold a conversation with you over a meal." She meets his eyes again, a flicker of curiosity appearing within them. "How old are you, anyway? I never asked."
Her smile reappears as she stirs her drink. It'd been a while for her since she'd had dinner with someone, too- not for a lack of suitors, but a lack of interest in them. Most of them had one thing on their mind, and while that was usually her aim in meeting them- it got boring quickly.
Maybe I'll ask this one to my place?
But she puts the thought aside, waiting for his answer.
Now that was a question he had not heard in quite a while. His forehead furrowed a bit, more out of thought then anything. Thinking on If he should tell her or not, He had not said about his age in quite some time. He ultimately decided to tell her the truth, he at least owed her that much. He breathed a heavy sigh as he begun to answer.
"I have been around, for a while. I am nearly a century old, in fact I will be 100 in this coming march." He had looked down on the tankard, out of embarrassment and uncertainty on how she would have reacted to knowing how old he really was. He had hoped that such knowledge wouldn't turn her away, but he would of understood if she walked away right then and there.

Her eyes widen as he tells her- an entire century? So much history must be stored in his mind, and she wonders what he must have seen in all his life. Not to mention, the way he looked placed him at perhaps twenty-six; she'd never have imagined his real age to be so great.
"..." Her mouth opens slightly before she blushes, realizing how she must look, and closes it. "...how?" How could he reach such an age, looking so young? How could he have lived for so long without someone taking notice?
At any rate, this didn't dispel her interest in him- far from that, it enhanced it; she was curious to hear the things he had seen.
He thought for a moment to think on the time he did obtain his unnatural life. It had been so long ago, and was far from the best of memories. The time the clan was attacked so long ago...it was certainly life changing for him. He took a deep breath, looking at the table as he would speak with a somber tone.
"I don't remember exactly when it happened, around eighty years ago perhaps. My clan was victim of the Rune Wars. Rune mages attacked us without warning, nearly wiping us out instantly." He fidgets a bit, trying his best to not get lost in the nightmarish memory as he explained what had happened.
"I had managed to escape, but not before being hit by one of the mages attacks. I survived the attack, but it severely wounded me and imparted some magic on myself. That magic you seen me show before? that was the magic that has also kept me alive this long." He goes silent for a moment, trying to forget about the all to real memory.

From the pain in his voice, she can see it happening- the screams of the people in the clan as their homes burned, and the clashing of weapons as they tried to stave off the assault.
"So... you lost everyone...?" There's a gentleness in her voice, a comfort that's unusual to find in most citizens of Noxus. While, after such a short time, she'd never go so far as to imply unnecessary affection- he was nice, and more importantly, he'd been nice to her, so she'd afford him the same kindness.
Her hands shift from her lap to the table, and she turns up her palms in an invitation to hold them.
He would subtly nod as she asked. The subtle kindness in her voice, and the gesture of kindness didn't go unnoticed. It was nice that she was more understanding of him then he expected of anyone. Bringing his own hands to lightly lay on top of hers, he lightly traces his thumb in circles on her palms.
"as far as I know, yeah. my family did not make it. Even if they did, I don't think they would have lived this long." He honestly did not know, but judging on how savage the fight was, It was not likely. "Do you have any idea what its like to see your place burn and family die? I.... try not to think about it." His voice goes soft, a light smirk crosses his face as he look to her. He didn't want to make her sad, but it certainly was not the best of memories.

While she'd expected it, Rose wasn't prepared for the relative cold of his skin, and she shivers a little, goosebumps prickling their way up her arms- this time, they aren't hidden by the sleeves of her coat. Were she focused on herself, she'd be embarrassed, but she's still processing how old he really is, and how awful it must have been.
At his question, she shakes her head. "I can't imagine... I burned my mother once, when she was trying to train me in magic. That's when I stopped studying; I didn't want to ever hurt her again." The words spill from her before she can stop them, and she fixes her eyes on a point in the distance before looking back to his, her expression carefully composed.
