The sun shone brightly through the thick canopy of leaves overhead, bearing thin sun rays dancing back and forth, twinkling along the open space below. This particular area seemed to be rather clear of dense brushes and trees, making it easier to traverse. However, there was not a single place in the Kumungu where Nidalee could not hunt while hidden. She had many techniques under her tooth adorned belt.
A perfectly large, robust elk stood before her, unaware of her watchful presence. It craned its neck down, chewing off bits of shrubbery, taking a few steps forward as it chewed, grazing along more greenery to satiate its hunger with, picking and choosing the best supplement.
She was afraid attacking it in beast form would scare it off before she would get the opportunity to pin it down. She was quick, but elk were also quick. She only really preferred to use her beast form to tackle down larger, more dangerous prey that her human figure would not dare go toe to toe with. Elk do not fight back, and this method did not require her to cover distance to claim her prize.
Her eyes squinted slightly from high up a tree branch, ever so carefully raising her spear to aim without trace of sound. The elk raised its head and continued to chew mindlessly, unaware of its upcoming fate.
She was starving, and occasionally she liked to bring home food for her feline family.
A subtle grin crossed her lips.

Nevin had been hunting in the Kumungu jungles today. all that had with him was his jungle camouflaged shirt, boots and pants, as well as two daggers that he had held in each hand. since the day started, he had not made any catches, and there had not been much in the way of leads for prey. So far, the footprints that he had followed so far had been too old to chase or gone already. The most recent footprints he had been following however seemed promising. I was a set of 4 prints, from a hooved animal like an deer or elk.
With quiet and practiced steps he slowly came behind a bush, 10 meters behind the elk. He grinned as he finally found a prey to take back home. He was growing worried that this trip would have been for nothing. For now he had to remain patient. With how close he was, he had to remain perfectly quiet.
His muscles tensed as he remained rigidly still. He waited for the chance to be able to jump out on the Elk when it wasn't paying attention. For now the patient hunter had waited for the chance.
The sounds of chimpanzees and macaws sounded the air in the distance, echoing through the trees as constant background noise. Nidalee remained frozen, watching, hunting. She wanted it to be a perfect shot, and she only had one opportunity before the frightened elk would gallop off after her first failed attempt. Only, she simply would not fail. She was exceedingly skilled at this, having done it all her life, but this animal was particularly a rare valuable prize. Confidence overcame her.
"C'mere, you big ol' elk." Nidalee whispered under her breath, barely audible. "Come to mama..." her whisper trailed off as she pulled her arm back, closing one eye, and shot at full speed directly into the elk's heart.
"Gotcha."
A loud wail echoed through the jungle as startled birds took off from nearby trees, the sound of frantic flapping in conjunction for only a moment. The elk squirmed on the ground helplessly, frantic, its eyes full of terror as the soil underneath soaked up the running blood. After a short moment, it took one final weak flailing of limbs in an exasperated attempt of desperate survival, before falling still. Its mouth remained half opened from its screeches fallen silent.
His brow furrowed when he heard the faint, but distinguishable sound of a javelin whizzing through the air. He had tried to look around for the source of the spear, but by the time he could even react, it had pierced into the heart of the beast. "the hell?..." he muttered to himself as he watched the elk flailing about.
what-who did that? who else would even be all the way out here for that matter? he thought as the elk gasped its last breath, and fell to the floor. It was rare that someone had hunted in the same area that he did, much less so brave enough to traverse places like this.
He closed up his folded blades, and put them in each of his side pockets of his pants. It would seem he did not need them for the moment. The elk had already been slain, and whomever had taken it had the advantage of an unknown position anyways. If they were after him he would have been alot more defensive, probably even dead by know judging by the pinpoint shot. He did not think so however, as it seem that they were after the elk and not him.
Cautiously he stepped out of the brush, still in a semi crouching stance. He was still cautious and was looking across the brush and trees for the killer to no avail. They must have been hiding very well for both the elk and him to not take notice. His head and eyes would dart around as he made his way to the corpse of the dead elk.
The sound of a crunching leaf had stopped her from lowering herself to the ground to claim her prey. Her eyes darted in the direction, only to find a cautious human. He didn't appear to be lost, and she certainly hasn't seen him around in these all-too-familiar parts. She huffed in annoyance.
To the man, it would have seemed to happen in a flash. She dropped from the tree, landing as gracefully as a feline would. With a single, fluid motion, the man would find her mere inches from him, her eyes piercing into his, her spear firm in grasp as the tip tickled against his skin as warning.
Nevin was visibly startled as the Huntress had pounced him seemingly out of nowhere. He barely had time to react as the spear was quickly upon him. Breathlessly he eyed the spear, rather unsure of what to do at that point. His palms opened up indicating he was not holding any weapons, and hopefully help reducing hostility.
He did not want to get in a fight with her, and he would have likely horribly lost anyways. He Looked at her "I was tracking that animal there through the jungle. When it came here to eat it was in the bush over there ready to kill it. It would seem that someone else took the kill." He looked over to the bloodied Elk, then back to her. "I take it that was you?" He asked. If he wasn't at spearpoint, he would be impressed. It wasn't often he has seen someone as skilled in hunting.
