Minoryu stood in his typical white garb before several ninja. Newbloods. Behind him was a large cabinet tied shut by a thick rope.
"I am Minoryu. I am now your brother in shadows, as are those next to you. I do not know why you are here. I do not care. I am here to improve my technique to perfection and to expose the falsehoods the Kinkou spread and then destroy them. If you wish to progress in our order, you will make these goals your own.
Becoming one with the shadows is the path to a unified world, for the shadows know true peace in the world. We do not judge your past, your race, or the means by which you achieve. We judge your results. Succeed and we will reward you. Fail, and we will cut the weakness from you. Fail again, and we will cut the weakness from our order."
Minoryu undid the chain on his belt, and started his swirling routine, the weighted end spinning at his left and sickled end spinning at his right at a blinding speed.
"The chain is only as strong as it's weakest link, and should my chain break, I will die. So, too, must our order forge its chains strong, for many seek to try our strength. Many would see us perish."
Minoryu rotated his chains around himself (one end of the chain went in front of him the other went over) and without turning from the students, crossed his arms, making the sickled and weighted ends of his chains spin at the opposite sides they had been moments before. He then launched the weighted end of his chain at a younger student, deftly pulling it just short of the student and while the boy was distracted by the flying weight in his face, he launched his sickle at the boys ankles, pulling him to the ground, but not drawing blood.
"Thus, we must be aware and unified. Every action must be planned out."
Minoryu walked over to the boy and extended a hand to help him up after untangling the boy's feet.
"And we must know what our foes might do to us."
The boy gave Minoryu a glare as he took the extended hand and returned to where he had been standing.
"Split up into groups and prepare to spar. I will see your worth. Perpare for anything your foes may throw at you."
Minoryu walked to the cabinet and opened it with his knife, revealing a wide array of wooden weapons, most being of Ionian style, but other weapons were present, even a bow with a quiver of arrows with stunning tips.
"Take what you will, but if I see steel, then you will see mine. You will not see anything after that."
He then stood back and watched the newbloods gather their weapons.
Sky arrived at the training with a rather groggy look. Seems she got woken up for the practice, which isn't at all surprising. As she got there, she'd fold her arms and scoff a little at the words with a bit of a cocky grin. "Heh.." Watching the younger student get his leg yanked from beneath him, she rolled her eyes slightly.
With a bit of a shrug, she'd watch the other students break off into groups and gather their choice weapons. She didn't use normal weapons, so she didn't bother to approach the cabinet. Instead, she found herself somewhat isolated as the other students broke away and seemed to intentionally avoid her.
She was a pest. Few liked her, and those who tolerated her well enough still kept their distance. They'd seen her handy work. She didn't like killing, but she was more then capable of it and particularly skilled thanks to her prior trainings. Killing wasn't her purpose in life. But she would if she had to, and had learned not to hesitate if the need were to present itself.
Sky sighed a bit with her arms dropping to her sides, flicking her gaze about her to the suspicious students as they muttered comments about the 'black sheep' in their order.
"Kuromei, are you here to train or to mock your brother?" Minoryu stated to her, noting your rolling eyes.
He removed a long piece of rope of about 20 feet with a blade of oak tied on one end.
"If you do not integrate then you fracture, and our foes will shatter us. You lack the will to fight for us. You lack the drive to see us advance. You are so selfish and arrogant that none of us will fight for you. Yet, you are here."
Minoryu begins to spin the rope to his right side, and it makes a loud whirring noise as he advances towards her.
"If you don't fight for us, then who do you fight for? Yourself? Sensei? Do you not even fight for a cause, but instead act as an agent of chaos, spreading woe and suffering with salvation and rescue? Or are you simply bored with your life? If nothing drives your blade, then I will knock it aside."
Minoryu then launched an attack with the blade of wood, flicking his wrist to send the blade at her left temple.
Silence... that was all that came from the young girl as Jun watched Minoryu display his show with his chain, watching as the young boy was pulled to the floor. Jun's deep, dark eyes slid from the boy to the ninja giving his speech. She had gotten up early to be a participant of this and she intended to make the most of it.
When Minoryu's speech was over and the group split up to grab fake weapons, Jun silently stepped forward and took a wooden Katana in her hands... the weapon she had been trained to use. She ran a silent hand over the wood of the fake weapon, furrowing her brows slightly. Distant memories of her father resurfaced, but were instantly repressed, now was not the time to bring herself any discomfort.
Jun then looked around for a sparring partner, when her eyes fell on Sky. Jun raised an eyebrow, she had never seen the other woman before and the other ninjas seemed to have nothing to do with her. Jun simply gripped the wooden weapon and began to walk over to the other female when Minoryu cut her off.
Jun blinked, but simply opted to sit cross legged and watch the two, content on waiting for Minoryu to finish before introducing herself to the other woman, the wind blowing ever so slightly across her dark attire.
"You don't have the privilege to call me that." Sky said to the man with a slight glare leveled on him, "Zed alone gave me that name. You can call me 'Sky'." She watched him closely when he would start towards her, swinging the wooden blade from the end of a rope. Of course she understood he was going to attack her. It was blatantly clear.
"Brothers?" She questioned and laughed a bit, "I don't have any family, so don't bother trying to pawn your idea of it off on me." Smirking, "Hoi, chaos? Guess I bring chaos.. Change can be good.. You keep preaching the same shit, doing the same shit, it becomes stagnant and boring. Chaos is another form of change. Anyway, I'm here to learn. So you can keep prattling on about how I'm 'arrogant' or 'selfish' or whatever - or you can teach us." Shrugging.
As the blade came forward towards her temple, Sky did what she did best - she dodged, sidestepping quickly away from the incoming projectile incredibly fast. It would be clear to those who had never known of her, that she already had a fair bit of training.
"Sky it is." Minoryu said with a shrug as he put his blade back to spin at his right.
"I care not for how I am to address you or how you work, it is the results I am concerned with. Change is welcome when it can be shown as an improvement. This is an aspect of the Kinkou that weakens them. They do not change, for better or for worse. Chaos is change without control, altering the world whimsically. That is weakness. Consistency is more productive. Discipline to guide your fate."
Minoryu stopped spinning his blade, and shifted to spinning the other end of his rope, which had nothing on its end. It did 2 full rotations before he swung it like a whip at her right side.
Sky absently yawned as he spoke, driving the point home that his lecturing her wasn't going to change how she thought about things. If he wanted to call it weakness, then he clearly had no idea how well her 'chaos' worked at times. Smirking a bit, she'd watch as he started to toy with the rope again, slipping her fingers into the edges of her cheongsam, pinching one of her many origami within the tips of her fingers.
As the rope came towards her, Sky reacted quickly throwing a sparrow origami to intercept. Mid-motion the sparrow burst into a small cluster of the birds, working as a shield to deflect the snapping rope in place of her body.
Sky watched as the sparrows vanished, leaving behind a torn up origami sparrow on the ground and her body again unharmed. "You really underestimate me, don't you?"
Minoryu calmly began the rotation again with the dagger making its loud whir in the air.
"Arrogance leads to weakness, Sky. You assume I underestimate you, thus you assume weakness, thus you lower your guard. Assume only that your foe is revealing an opening he wants you to try to exploit, and then he will break you as he closes it on you. Misdirection is OUR ally, do not let it be used against you. In a real fight, would those birds come so readily at your call after that display? Wasting your birds on simple blows that you should be able to dodge will make the fight turn from you when the attacker stops measuring your skill and goes for the kill."
All at once, Minoryu gave his dagger the full length of rope to spin parallel to the earth, firstly aiming to strike Sky's right temple with the rope. If she backed, too far she would hit the dagger, but having the rope strike her head would have the same reaction as it would spin the dagger around head head or neck until the dagger slammed into her face.
