Name:Almyra Bys
Alias:
Class: Chaos Theorist
Race: Human
Age:26
Occupation:None
Residence:None (though she does have a hidy-hole in Ionia where she keeps her notes)
Alignment:True Neutral
Abilities:
NOTE: All damage comparisons are to a "Tier 2" opponent, which is considered to be the average OC or soldier.
Almyra uses “Chaos Magic” as she calls it. It involves the creation of weapons out of magic to attack her opponents. While attacks with them deal damage to flesh and bone as if they were physical weapons, they damage is reduced based on magic resistance, however, any magically imbued items will increase defense against her attacks, regardless of whether or not they would increase the defense against other magical attacks. Her attacks will also harm spirits and other opponents which are only harmed by magical attacks.
Unfortunately, this leaves her vulnerable to physical attacks, as non-magically imbued or enchanted weapons cannot be parried by her magic. She is very agile and can dodge some, but faster opponents or those who time their attacks well will be able to hit her. However, she is very effective at taking out slower, heavily armored opponents.
Claws of Discord: Creates magical claws attached to her fists which she uses to attack her opponents. Attacks with claws are fast and short range.
She has significant skill with these, and can hold her own in a fight with some stronger enemies, provided they aren't faster than her.
Chaos Chains: Creates chains which can be used to bind the target, rooting it in place, or to pull it to her or her to it. She can only pull an enemy to her if it is light enough that she could pull it with normal chains (though others can grab the chains and help her). She can also have the chains connected to a fixed anchor point, then have them retract, making her able to pull anything that weighs less than whatever she has anchored the chains to.
There is a small delay before the chains form, though unless one can sense the magical energy of them being formed, they are difficult to detect, but will appear as a faint, green mist to those who cannot detect the magic. Chains deal no damage. Very strong targets are only slowed by the chains.
Cooldown: 24 seconds (average 4 posts).
Bedlam Spike: Conjures a crossbow and fires a bolt of energy at the target, behaves in the same way as her other abilities, being blocked by magical resistance but piercing like an arrow. Once it penetrates the maximum distance into the body, it will disappear..
Cooldown: 12 seconds (average 2 posts).
Tumult Blade: Uses a blade of varying length (ranging from a small pocketknife to a claymore) to attack her targets. Attacks with blades are medium range and have medium speed. She has little to no skill with this though, she is more likely to make it long and swing it in front of her to keep others away.
Cannot form another weapon for 12 seconds (average 2 posts) after creation of the weapon.
Anarchic Hammer: Uses a hammer of varying length and weight (though it is weightless for her). Has the longest range of her melee abilities, is the slowest, and tends to stagger opponents. Her skill level with this is the same as it is for her Tumult Blade.
Cannot form another weapon for 12 seconds (average 2 posts) after creation of the weapon.
Hands of Change: Almyra punches her target, releasing small bursts of energy with each punch, increasing their effectiveness. She is also quite skilled with this form, since she was trained in unarmed martial arts techniques.
Attacking with Hands of Change increases Almyra's damage by 5% for 12 seconds (average 2 posts), stacking 3 times.
Pandemonic Shield: Creates a shield to block magical attacks, physical ones by weapons not imbued with magic will pass straight through. Will absorb all magic damage from spells that hit it. If it takes more than 200 damage over 12 seconds (average 2 posts), it will break, stunning Almyra.
Cooldown if broken: 24 seconds (average 4 posts)
If canceled, will regenerate 25% of health every 6 seconds (each post), but can be conjured again at any time.
Entropic Blast (Ultimate): Fires a cone of chaos magic in front of her, dealing magic damage to enemies. Deals very high damage to targets. Almyra's attacks are weakened by 20% for 18 seconds (average 3 posts) after use.
Cooldown: 42 second (average 7 posts)
Relationships: Timara Bys- Her younger sister. Timara cares about Almyra deeply and is trying to find her. When they were children, Timara would defend Almyra from the teasing of other children, even though Almyra didn't really care about it. Due to how much time Timara spent with Almyra, she is one of the few people who understands her, and Timara is one of the few people Almyra understands.
Adelheid- Met her on a journey to Freljord, she is fascinated by the woman’s strange amount of bad luck.
Description: Almyra is short, only about 5’3". She has long, black hair and large, brown eyes. Her features are distinctly Ionian. She is sloppily dressed in what were once fairly nice robes, but through extensive use, they have become worn and dirty. They have turned from their once bright green to a more greenish brown color. Underneath the robes she wears a simple cotton shirt and pants, though these have also been worn to a brownish color as well.
While she is very bright and kind for the most part, her behavior is erratic and chaotic. She will make strange connections between seemingly unrelated subjects. She has countess unusual quirks about her, the most noticeable being her tendency to occasionally speak with rhymes and rhythm, as though reciting a poem.
Almyra has a deadly bee allergy, and will experience severe swelling and go into shock from a single sting.
Biography: Family background- Almyra’s family is one of high standing in her home town, they are often sought out for when advice is needed or decisions must be made. Many of them go to be monks to seek enlightenment. Her parents always treated their children kindly, including Almyra. They taught her to do what she believes will make her happy, as long as it does not harm others.
An unusual child- From an early age, it was clear Almyra was different than most people. It wasn't until she was three years old that she spoke her first words, which were not "Mommy" or "Daddy," they were "Why" followed shortly by "How". She would often wander off and watch the world around her, while she spoke little, her parents could tell that she was constantly thinking. She would easily become fascinated with a single subject for a week or two, then suddenly switch to another. The whole time, there was always a lost quality about her, as though she wanted to know something, but not what. Due to her nature, other children would often fear and avoid her, or tease and torment her, though she never showed any signs of being bothered by it. When her sister was big enough, she began to defend Almyra, and despite Almyra's general failure to understand people, she and her sister managed to bond well.
Call of Eris- One day, when she was fourteen, a strange man came into her town. He told her and others of fractal patterns, the butterfly effect, and chaos theory. The night before the man said he was leaving, when everyone else had gone to sleep, Almyra decided that she wanted to learn about chaos. She put on her robe and left, not comprehending the impact it would have on her family. She learned that the man was part of an order of monks who studied chaos, and believed that enlightenment came with the understanding of chaos.
Among the teachings were also chaos magic, a type which generally requires a focus to harness it and prevent it from affecting the mind. Almyra grew impatient with the use of foci, and experimented with chaos magic without one. As she worked with it, she gained more power than could be obtained through the use of a focus. It also affected her mind, allowing her to better see the relationship between seemingly random events and see how seemingly meaningless variables can affect major events. She now understands the truth of chaos better than anyone could hope to, and continues to experiment. What seems like madness to others is order to her, and what seems like her being erratic and insane is her carefully experimenting with the world around her.
