The obelisk behind him stirred and spoke. A voice deep inside the pillar woke. It rang of tones familiar and bizarre; the Prophet's voice sounded from afar, "Kassadin, why do you resist? Why must it come to this? We have seen the visions of the falling sky. We have watched the mortals of this realm lament and cry. And you! You have heard them too! Embrace."
While his voice echoed out over Icathia, the Prophet stooped to collect Kog'Maw by the belly. His arms barely circled the grub, but the strength of the Void allowed him to hoist it aloft while Kassadin caught his breath. Reiora would escape. There was no chasing her now, not with Kassadin behind, but the Prophet could at least protect the spawn. There would be many more upon this plane in time--but for now, the single pup represented the Void's growing influence and impending success.
The Prophet's grip held like a vice around Kog'Maw as the two began to faze into the great beyond. They would return when they had gathered their strength. And all the while, Icathia's whispers and skittering runes echoed out the ominous command: Embrace, as though the great onyx pillars of these ruins acted as conductors for the powers of the plane between the planes.
"A'griiar dvrunn hggath c'mbrraggsoloth c'thun," the Prophet chanted, seizing Kog'Maw to him as he panted, and like a mist, the pair faded on into the great Abyss.

Kog'Maw happily let himself be picked up by Malzahar, and waited until they were safely inside the Abyss to speak. "Need plan....and....hungryyyy." Kog'Maw whined for food, knowing very well there was none around. "Food after fighting over?"

Kassadin pressed his back against the pillar trying to contain his loud, jagged breathing. He shut his eyes, trying to block the visions and whispers from seeping into his mind. The Voidwalker fell to one knee and brought his hands to his forehead, clenching his teeth and groaning in pain.
Embrace! Embrace! Embrace! Embra-
And suddenly, silence.
Kassadin slowly rose and peeked around the corner, initially confused. Both the Prophet and the Maw had vanished, leaving only a thin purple mist behind. Reiora was nowhere to be seen, but he assumed she would still be around, perhaps even seeking further confrontation. Slowly, Kassadin started to walk away from the heart of Icathia, until its corrupting influence weakened enough for him to leave the wretched place.
Reiora's expression dulled. In one moment, everyone had bolted. She did the same, expecting something horrid to appear, and escaped to the top of the Icathian ruins in three quick leaps. ...Nothing came, and the battle ended just as abruptly as it started. It was anti-climactic, but it gave her a moment to take in the fact that she was no longer inside the nonexistent world of the void. The place reeked of it.... but it was real. The Icy mountains before, this void-scattered mess of a place here... It was solid. And nothing constantly attacked her! She had to admit, the peace was rather enjoyable.
It was just Kass and Rei now, though they were on far ends of whatever this ruined area once was. She spied a tiny octopus head peek out from behind a pillar. Definitely him. Should probably hunt him down... but he did help her before, which was bothering her more than it should have. Of all the void creatures, none had exhibited the traits necessary to just help her and leave it at that. There was some trick to this, for sure.
So she followed behind him. He was walking, straight through the desert it seemed, so it wasn't hard at all. Nothing to hide behind, either, so her presence was well known.

Reiora's pressence was well known indeed. Kassadin quickly peered over his shoulder and slowly turned around to gaze at her directly, using his forearm to shield his vision from the raging, sand-filled winds.
His voice echoed out of his mask, filled with sorrow. Reiora... do you not remember me?
No response. No reaction, either. Reiora had heard him, she registered that it was language, that the noises carried meaning, that they were for her. But somewhere along the journey in the void, the words of runeterra had begun to lose themselves, her own thoughts no more than gibberish and grumbling.
They were well into the desert by now, standing at the bottom of a rolling sand dune, the dust kicking up around the two voidwalkers' feet. All Reiora did was stand and face him back. Her intentions to kill him were clear on her expression, as simple as they were, but her actions said otherwise. She just stood there and waited to see what he would do.

She could not understand him? The void must have had a greater effect on her mind that he had anticipated.
Kassadin straightened his back and cleared his throat. He hated having to do such a thing, but if it meant saving her daughter from the clutches of oblivion... it was worth a shot. His otherwordly voiced echoed out of his mask and across the desert, filling the air with what would seem gibberish to unenlightned ears. The voice, while dark and netherly, did not sound corrupted in the least.
Behind her, Icathia vibrated. It wasn't anything huge, but something about the air around them had shifted. Reiora's eyes widened for just a moment, before returning to their previous glare.
"yfgnaiih..." repeated back, not from Reiora's lips, but echoing from the sand itself, in a feminine voice that Kassadin would very well recognize. And then, five words, in perfect runeterran dialect, spoken by the same disembodied voice of the sands:
"Why did you kill me?"
Reiora, the voiceless girl standing in front of him, clutched her head in pain, void corruption visibly seeping from her feet and outward onto the dunes they stood on. Hazy purple energy surrounded her, covering her entire body like armor as she dealt with a massive headache.

Instinct caused the Voidwalker's fist to clench. His knees bent and his body leaned forward, preparing itself for a possible confrontation.
Ya naflah. N'ghftnyth na.
The being before him bore his daughters' face and spoke with her voice, too, but its mind had clearly been warped by the Void. Horrible thoughts clouded his mind - visions of what she had endured and would suffer, pondering wether rescuing her from the Nether's clutches was possible at all.
