Nearby the industrial district of Piltover an old factory was renovated into a Orphanage. It was run by an young gentleman named Heung Zhigra, who hailed from Ionia and moved to Piltover after the Noxian invasion of his homeland. A stern, but caring hand for children who had no where else to turn. Heung had clear signs of martial training with a ball to heel step and easily avoiding the toys thrown at him by the younger children, but this was no major surprise, given his origin. He stood at just under six feet and kept his office near the doorway to the establishment. He had a clear line of sight from his seat in the office to the entrance of the Orphanage and always went to greet guests, regardless of age or standing in society.
Upon entering one might hear the excited squeals and yells of children at play or dead silence as they studied.
However, this night was the night when the orphanage marked as an anniversary of its grand opening one month past. Heung had organized a party for the children and for anyone who could spare a small donation to help fund the establishment.

Gem eagerly ventures into the industrial district of Piltover. A home for the lost? Gem had been sleeping in the streets ever since he arrived in Piltover, as he barely had any money, and he wasn't going to be able to raise enough until the PMC accepted him full time.
His heart sank when he realizes the building is only an orphanage. He hoped this would be a refuge house, or a "home for the lost" as the name implied. Gem sighs, and looks at the sign again, hearing the sounds of festivities inside. He shrugs, and opens the door. He would have nothing else to do during the night, so he figured he would check this place out.
Gem enters the orphanage, looking for someone in charge. He doubts anyone will hear him over the commotion of the party, the children, and both combined, although he still gives it a try. "Hello? I would like to see the person who runs this place."
"Excuse me." Heung stated as calmly as he could (and still be heard) as he tapped the man on the shoulder. He was silent as the grave, but in this party it was not needed for him to be, given the children were happy to hear that 'lights out' was being delayed for sweets and fun.
He put on a hospitable face and had his hands in front of him almost readying a bow, but noting the man's attire and decided against it and shifted to a relaxed stance, holding his left hand loosely in his right. "My name is Heung Zhigra. May I help you? Are you here to adopt because tonight would be made much better with such good news?" Heung took one strong whiff. Being homeless meant having no showers and that was readily apparent.
"Or...maybe not..." Heung mumbled, his face shifting ever so slightly away for the welcoming expression. Still it would not serve him to turn this soul away. "Would you like something to eat?"

Gem jumps, clearly not anticipating someone behind him. His guard fell, and he makes a mental note to himself never to do that again. "Oh, hello sir. I did not expect to find you...behind me, I guess."
Gem grins sheepishly, his gaze shifting to the children, then back to Heung. Gem replies in response to his question about adoption. "Sadly, no. I have too many things on my plate right now. Unfortunately, those things on my plate are only metaphorical..." Gem chuckles slightly, then sighs. "I assumed this was a shelter. You know, "Home for the Lost" sort of seems like that kind of name"
The young man eagerly accepts Heung's invitation to some food. In between bites, Gem continues the conversation. "I came here from Zaun...I am a refuge of some sort. I am currently in the application process for the PMC. However, I don't have any money, and I won't unless I get accepted. So, I don't have anywhere to stay for the moment."
"Apologies. I was in my office dealing with paperwork and didn't see you enter until I had walked to check on the children." Heung said. He was a little annoyed this one got by him. He would try to be more aware in the future.
"I guess it is. We will help anyone, but our first goal is that of the children. I can give you shelter for a while, but you must pull your own weight. Clean dishes, floors, bathrooms, or children. Help me watch them and protect them, should they be threatened or in danger of any form. If you are trained medically, I could definitely use you. Some of the children have a cough and I want to make sure it is not a fever or a flu." Heung went as the PMC-hopeful ate, standing off to the side, and quietly controlling the children as well as he could with glances and an occasional stern word when a child tried to take what was not his.
"Are these terms agreeable?" He finished, as he swiftly pulled a knife away from a running child and planting it into the nearest ham while maintaining eye contact with the homeless soldier.

Gem's face instantly lit up as he heard the offer for him to stay. "Thank you, sir. I'll try my best not to be a bother to you..." Gem continued to munch on the food, a lot more cheerful due to his kind offer.
"I am glad to help a patriot of our good city." Heung said with a bow, suddenly noting another child with a plastic knife playing roughly.
"Excuse me. Make yourself comfortable and introduce yourself to the children. Give a shout and I will find you." Heung said as he swiftly walked over to deal with the conflict that was brewing. From a distance, it was clear that Heung kept a firm hand on his wards, not afraid to deal some physical punishment as needed, but not abusive. Heung gave the child a stern word, and upon receiving lip, smacked the back of the child's head. His hand had gone to the belt in case the stern word and hand were not enough. This time it was. Heung was no parental father figure to these children. He was all work.

Noticing some of the children taking odd glances at Gem, the young man sighs. He would have to get used to these kids, and the best way to do that would be to get off on the right foot.
Gem rests his plate of food on the table, and strolls over to the children's play area. "Hello everyone. My name is Gem Watkins. I am going to be staying here for a bit, so I figured I would introduce myself..." Gem stops mid sentence, realizing that none of the kids are listening to him. Most of them are continuing to play around, unaware of the fact that an unfamiliar person had entered the room.
"Uh..." Gem tries to recollect himself, then shrugs, and exits. He would try to get to know the children later, possibly when their attention spans aren't as short as a candle's wick in sweltering heat.
