On the road leading to the Mountains. May 14, 23 CLE.
It had been an extremely long day, seldom and very much pleasing to say the least. Diana was within her quarters, studying more ancient tomes she gathered from the grand library, as the institute put all matches on break. The void invasion in the north did not bother Diana, nor did she care about such a trifle, and simply continued studying. Today though, Diana felt the need to return to her temple, to check up and make sure everything has ran smoothly. Diana herself was in deep thought as she walked the slow, yet fair distance from the institute to her temple. Her pace unlike most usual days was off, as she has made this trip countless times before... but her deposition was different today. As she walked, her gaze would follow the path before her, the already huge trail of mountain's were in plain view, the sun still sitting above the highest one... at least for the first part of the trip. Soon, the sun begins to set within the sky, falling underneath the mountain range that she once called home. Diana stares at the yellow giant falling, before turning to look at where her mistress would arise, away from the sun and back to the path before her.
"Tsk, perhaps it is time to rest..."
Diana would soon come upon her favorite spot from on the road, a hill that many other's have gossiped about seeing Diana sitting upon at the halfway point of the trek. The hill, surprisingly was the highest and closest thing to a vantage point to the road before others, if facing it...towards Targon. Today Diana was not, as she would be sitting and simply lean against the only tree upon the hill, gazing upwards into night sky... as the Moon slowly raised before her eyes.

Leona's heels trekked through the snow, kicking it up as she walked. She had taken some time away from the temple, to gather her thoughts. The Void invasion of Freljord had left a mark on her, one that could not so easily be replaced. Leona had never been in a war before, ironically enough, considering where she had come from. She frowned as she walked, her deep hazel eyes locked with the snowy floor.
When she began her walk, she didn't very much look in the direction she was going... she merely picked one and followed it. When the Sun set, and night fell is when she finally looked up towards the sky, a whispered prayer marked the setting from of the Sun, escaping Leona's lips almost with her even thinking of it. She never felt as if she were without the Sun, even as the Moon's light cast down onto her. Leona closed her eyes for a moment as she felt Targon's icy wind blow through her hair.
When she opened them was when she would see the hill, a familiar form sitting on top of it. The Solari warrior furrowed her brows slightly as she recognized Diana's slender form. She contemplated simply turning around, for she had witnessed enough fighting. However, she found herself approaching the hill anyways, stepping on to it and standing a respectable distance away from the other woman.
"Hello Diana." She said quietly, looking down impassively at where Diana was sitting.

The night was growing cold, the snow on the ground only beginning to glisten in the moonlight, but the hill itself had none. Diana was in a daze, fully fixated upon the moon shining its soft silver glow before her. Her expression was one of a child longing to go home, but her exhaustion from earlier today prevented that from happening, at least for now.
Diana's head would turn once she heard a very familiar voice, and it did not carry its usual... annoying banter of speaking. Her eyes would track down to Leona's location, she was in no mood to fight with the woman... nor care if she was in the area. Brow raised she'll simply reply back in the same manner, before returning her gaze back upon the Moon.

"I suppose you can say that." Leona replied, looking up to the Moon with Diana. "The night is beautiful." She then said, her eyes scanning the stars as they began to dot themselves along with the Moon.

"The night is always beautiful!" Diana said correcting Leona with a passionate voice, still gazing upon the Moon.
She would then turn to look at the Sun Avatar once again, brow raised. "What seems to be bothering you? I know how you are... and I wont accept my rival being down over something to not urge me to reconsider my views."
Diana herself did not participate within the war to the north, she only heard stories and rambling's of it from the general public, so she'll be clueless as to what was truly bothering Leona until it was mentioned. She would think back to their fight within her quarters, that was a bad day even for Diana... so perhaps it'll be different this time.

Leona frowned before she simply sighed and sat down across from the other woman. "The war..." She replied, simply looking at the ground. "It has left it's mark on me.." Leona was accustomed to death, she could say. After all, she had witnessed death in the League... but for it to be permanent..? A heavy burden was placed on her heart. Leona simply hugged her knees to her chest and closed her eyes for a moment. "I must say, I'm surprised you haven't threatened me... or attacked me yet."

Diana furrowed a brow, she had not known of Leona of all people participating within the war... although after thinking about it more deeply, Diana knew it was within her nature. Her gaze would continue to pierce into the Sun Avatars location, seeing her defenseless she would've attacked immediately, if it had not been for today. Even as rivals this day always held dear to Diana even while within a in a bind between emotions, betrayals, friendships... and old wounds.
"Do you remember what today is, Leona? There is one particular reason why I feel no need to attack...and your disgraceful appearance before me is an eyesore." She said softly, now gazing at Leona's folded figure. "You have no reason to mope and complain, as it should be me doing it."
After her statement , Diana would sigh and return her gaze back upon the Moon. It's calming and comforting glow would keep Diana mellow tonight... even with Leona literally 15 feet away from her as the night grew colder.

Leona sat there for a moment, her eyes still closed. Her thoughts went back to the war, shaking her head... she had failed so many people. Only when Diana's words cut the silence did she open her eyes, her thoughts instantly taken from one place to another. "....Today's the first day we met." She said, nearly forgetting. Leona paid no attention to the insults that Diana hurled her way, too busy thinking to really care. "I.. I didn't think you'd be the one to remember such a day." She replied.

Diana furrowed a brow, surprised that Leona of all people would almost forget... seeing as it took her a few moments to remember. The woman who wishes to rekindle everything... almost attempting to call Diana back to her... if only subtly. She would tilt her head to the side, and turn her body to face Leona's, feeling the need to face her, rather than look away.
"I remember everything, this day haunts me more than the moments before my ascension. You of all people should know about my feelings... how they were crushed and shattered that day... and even now this is one that was not crushed... and why I push you away."
Diana would remember back to their first meeting, the small argument that gained each others approval of each other... and their first time being punished together on the very same day. Back when Leona had first become pulled into the Solari ranks, she of all people approached Diana when others told her to stay away... objected to her thoughts and soon the friendship began. That lingering feeling remains, even if she didn't want it to surface today, even after all the struggles and perilous activities that came later.
"I still am right, and even now you still have no proof." Diana muttered softly.

Leona felt the memories of that day rush into her... she frowned slightly, she did not exactly enjoy them. That is not to say that they were not cherished by her, but to remember them now? When Diana saw her as a mortal enemy? It was painful... Leona closed her eyes again and let out a sigh, shaking her head slightly. "I still do not know why you pushed me away... why you severed the tie with the only person who called you friend." Leona spoke softly.
"Does being right mean that much to you? So much that you live a life of bitterness and hatefulness? So much that you're willing to fight the only one who showed compassion to you...?"

Diana would furrow a brow, already gazing at Leona's expressions as she spoke. When she finally finished, Diana would be quiet for a few minutes... and then reply with an almost steeled resolve, but it would break halfway through.
"I told you to stay that night, but the Institute made it not happen. When that happened... I felt betrayed. You knowing my feelings, what I aspired to find... I enjoyed your company, enjoyed it to possibly love you more than a friend... and then it broke my heart when the one I cared for most wouldn't stand with me when I was triumphant."
A pause.
"So, I took the journey alone. I followed the map I had discovered, I found the relics and donned them with pride. I returned and the very first thing I was called and labeled as... a Heretic. The statement 'The truth hurts' is an understatement to the mental blow I received, so much that I almost died that night as they marked me... at least until my mistress... saved me."
Diana would point to the moon, then sigh, looking away once again as her thoughts began to form once more. Her last statement proved to be one difficult to say, even underneath the moonlight...as the night began to grow colder.

Leona looked rather shocked when Diana spoke of a possible relationship between the two. "Diana, I might have used to be your friend, but I would never let that sort of thing happen. It wouldn't happen, with what you were interested in. And besides, after what you've done to the Solari, to me...I cannot forgive you."
She sighed, biting her lower lip anxiously, looking at the ground, before continuing. "While I do find the Elder's rather quick judgement of you becoming a Heretic, I cannot control what they do and do not say, and I will listen to them in their decision." She clenched her jaw, looking back up at Diana. "And thus, I will wish nothing but rivals between us, until you realize that the Sun will prevail, and then, I might be able to convince the Solari to let you back. I'm sorry, Diana, but it's how it has to be."

Diana would glare at Leona as she spoke, raising her gaze down upon from Leona to the Moon, before returning to look at her once again.
"You are the Sun Avatar, what you say is final, yet they still did not contact you, nor did you heed my calls for you the week before the incident. I find it very very hard to see how you, a woman who strives to protect and help, would refuse to help one that you once called a friend."
Diana would then continue her glare upon Leona the moment she mentioned "The Sun will prevail." She'll then stand up and angrily point at Leona.
"You know of the past, as I've spoken, yet you refuse to accept what I've found and preached ever since my ascension. I shall never return to the Solari, as I will never accept that place anymore within my life."

Leona sighed, shaking her head. Diana knew not of what it is to be refusing her friendship. She still wanted to her to come back to the Solari, but, it would be a futile effort, sadly. All the work that could be done with her. A united Solari and Lunari...who knows, maybe they could bring world peace?...
...but it was not meant to be. "If that is what you wish, Diana, I will not stop you. However, we will not have any further friendly contact. I wish for the Solari and Lunari to be united one day, but, if that is what you wish, I will not stop you. I would spare you and your people, and you could live good, happy lives."
Without waiting for further reply from the Lunari leader, she turned, and marched back down the hill, back towards where she came. She did /not/ wish to be out any longer, not after the confrontation that had left a bitter taste in her mouth. She still hoped, as she did every day, until one of the organizations fell, or she died...

Diana would look at Leona as she began walking away, although her last statement rang as a threat to the Lunar woman, rather than a statement of peace. She'll stand and call out to the woman, angrily. Her voice would echo through the hills as Leona's figure began to disappear.
"Spare us?! I'll kill you where you stand next time then! You cant even bring up the nerve to talk with me about anything related with our past! The Solari betrayed the Lunari, not the other way around! If you truly wish to learn the truth, study it yourself and then come back to me about that so-called alliance! Or so help me the next time we meet I shall slay you without hesitation, even in such a condition as this!"
