The crystalline window pane of the temple wall loomed high into the porcelain ceiling, giving off a sweeping view of her beloved Ionia. Reflecting off the tranquil ebb and flow of Karma's inner fire. She sat, centered in a glow of impassive teal. Her form ever steady, was still in meditation. Though fully aware of her surroundings, her lips passed mantras that filled the looming room with ethereal echoes.
It had been days since the Enlightened One had gotten a moment to gather her bearings. Filling her mind with silence and voiding it of all impurities. Her hands lightly positioned upon her knees in an upturned position. Robes spread in a fluid, graceful circle about her. A vision of pure composure.
Located in the capitol, she waited for a confrontation. The Duchess welcoming all to approach her.

The Placidium was a place Aurus had rarely seen, but still always stuck him with its beauty. Having lived most of his life in a secluded valley, seeing the grand buildings filled him with wonder, but he would not let it distract him from his reasons for visiting.
He came for 2 reasons. The first was to train. Even though he knew many combat forms, there were some he still didn't. The greatest warriors came here to train and he planned on learning. It was his duty to learn more and pass that on to the next sword wielder.
The second was a personal conflict. His recent meeting with the assassin White Wolf had sent his mind into a storm of thoughts about revenge and justice. The Duchess was a women of immense wisdom and grace, wisdom and he wished to gain.
His approach was easy. None barred his way to see her. He found her meditating in the central chamber. He knelt before her in a gesture of respect and reverence.
"Duchess" he spoke, his voice mirroring the respect his body showed. "Please grace this troubled man with your wisdom."

His footsteps rang brilliantly through the main chamber. Alerting her of his arrival moments before he had entered. Her form remained still and her eyes closed until the last second. Upon hearing him speak, she stirred. Her teal fire dimming and returning to her before she moved.
The Enlightened One rose from her meditative position, it did not seem like she moved at all. Rather like she flowed into a standing position, turning gracefully to face him. Her eyes opened to a soft, welcoming expression. A smile fixed upon her lips. Flitting up and down the mans features for a moment.
"Welcome, troubled man." Her voice rang with an authoritative tone, yet it soothed any who heard it. Gesturing to a small ornate table at the far side of the chamber. A tea pot made of china steamed heartily upon its surface."Please, sit." Before saying anything else Karma made her way over and sat gently. Spreading her colorful robes around her with a flutter before laying an unwavering gaze upon the man once more. "Tell me what I can do you to ease your burden."

Aurus excepted the seat he was offered across from Karma.
I shall start from the beginning. My village was one of the first invaded during the Noxian occupation. My family and friends were killed and my life all but destroyed. After I found a new home, I decided to devote my life to bringing Noxus to justice.
He paused for a moment to let her take in his words.
"But I recently met...someone that question my resolve. How many are truly responsible? Is the guilt only on the leaders or is every soldier responsible for there actions? And when does justice become revenge?"

Karma's patience held, ever present. Taking a moment to pour him a cup of tea. As she sat back, listening to his words with eager concentration. She tilted her head slightly before answering.
"What is your name, burdened soul? And why do you let justice blind your actions so? What good will justice do but lower you to the ground of the enemy?"
She leaned ever so slightly forward, her eyes burning into him with an intense,gentle passion."What does justice mean to you?

"Aurus, my lady...or Kitai." he replied. He accepted the tea she poured him and took a sip, savouring the flavour as he listened to her.
The truth was he knew the answer to her questions.
"I used justice as my resolve for living. I used it to make myself feel better, to assure myself I was in the right. But it's all a lie. I want revenge. They hurt me, took all I had and I want to do the same to them."
He felt his grip on his cup tighten, his hands slightly shaking.
"What can a man do when he has devoted his life to revenge, only to realize those he wants to hurt might no deserve it?"

The woman reached forward, placing a soft reassuring hand on his visibly shaking one."So many times I have seen men like yourself. Hate ridden and stricken with grief. And blinded with the thought of revenge. Yet you say someone changed your views?"
She lowered his hand to relax on the small table once more. Patting it with offered comfort."A sudden clash in beliefs can cause one to be stuck between a rock and a hard place...so to speak. Torn between what the heart and soul forges for, and what the mind screams in protest. What speaks louder, Aurus?"

Aurus felt comforted by the Duchess' contact. He could feel the warmth and calmness coming from her, leaving an imprint of where she touched him.
"It was a women, an Ionian one. She works for Noxus because they saved her life. When I learned that I was ready to strike her down. She had done nothing to wrong me, but she was with them and that was all I cared about. But...I couldn't. I saw the fear in her eyes, the same fear I felt myself as a child, running for my life and I knew I was no better than them."
He them spent some time pondering over her conundrum over the heart and the mind.
"I have spent so much of my life yearning for revenge, I cannot picture my life without it...but that may be because I refuse to let it go. I will see my village avenged, but perhaps in a different way."
He met her eyes with his. They burned with determination. "Can you help me Duchess? Can you help me turn away this path of revenge into one of justice?"

"That is a thing about vengeance. It takes a matter of time before those seek revenge turns into monsters themselves."
Tao walked into the chambers, his soft soled shoes silent on the floor as he walked in. He bowed slightly towards Karma and nodded towards the man that sat across from her.
"I overheard your discussion while I was on my way here to visit Karma for some tea, like I usually do when I visit the capital. I just couldn't help say my piece on the matter of "vengeance" and "justice"."
He walked over and took a seat with them and stroked his beard for a moment before gesturing towards the young man.
"My apologizes boy, I seam to of forgotten my manners. I am Master Tao Fei Long, at your service, please do forgive my intrusion on your conversation."

Hearing the old master's voice, her features lit up. Her crystalline teal eyes following the movement of her head over to him. As she stood, meeting him half way, she embraced him and sat when he did."Such a sight for sore eyes Tao, as usual"
Taking a moment to pour the older gentleman tea before her eyes lifted to Aurus again. "Monster...is not a word I would use."Glancing over apologetically. "You need no revenge. A bird kept in its cage yearns only to fly it's whole life...and when its free?..Its song has never been sweeter. Certain things are best when just released Aurus."
Leaning forward she touched his chest, right where his heart would be, a string of teal fire igniting her digit. Still holding his eyes with her own."Listen to what /this/ has to say."Lifting the finger to press it ever so gently to the side of his temple."Do not ignore this..."Returning her hand to her lap."The two must coexist, you must find balance within yourself. To truly achieve justice you must be the better soul...use the fear in that young girls eyes to fuel your tranquility and accept that what is done, cannot be undone or justified."
Taking a slow, measured sip of tea, she sighed from its relaxing aroma and looked over to Tao"The ones that chose the path of the damned and stubborn are blinded by it...not demonized."

Aurus bowed from his seat as the man entered."There is no need to apologize at at Master Tao. I am honoured to meet you."
Aurus knew of the fame, famed throughout Ionia for his mastery of Chi and martial arts. To learn from him would greatly strengthen Aurus' own abilities.
He listened to Karma's speech on mind and heart being in harmony. He stared into his tea, watching the residue swirl within the water. His mind mind was restless, full of thoughts of revenge and anger. But his heart ached, for those he had lost. Anger in his mind, pain in his heart, two different feelings, but both wit the same goal.
Peace.
"I want peace." he declared quietly. "I don't want this anger or this pain. I want peace. I want to be able to live my life free from this. But I don't know how to get it. My mind is too full of anger and my heart to full or sorrow for me to feel peace.

"You must not force peace, troubled one. Peace is not something easily acquired, contrary to popular belief."Karma lifts her hands to Aurus. Feeling the hatred and aching that vibrated from him. Her luminous inner fire reached out to him. Attempting to soothe him in the least bit. Her eyes closed as she gave, and spoke."Time is the bringer of peace."Her voice took on the ethereal echo once more."Patience and good will shall bring you what you seek Aurus Higuko. Do not give in to the pulling of hatred in your heart. You will only become like the one who hurt you so. In finding balance, you find peace. In finding your true purpose, you find your solidity."
Her eyes opened as her fire faded, Karma's skin glowing slightly as it returned."Perhaps Tao would be kind enough to guide you on your path."Her eyebrow quirked at the old master.

Tao listened to the two of them as he sipped his tea before looking up at them.He smiled slightly at Karma as he gently set his cup down and stroked his beard as he considered his words.
"What Karma say's is correct, time heals all wounds. But there is more to it as well.And I would be more than happy to share what I may with you to help you on your way young man."
The old master faced the young man, his features stern.
"If you truly want peace, then you must look inside yourself, for you are the only one keeping yourself from it. Find the strength inside yourself to let go of that hatred, for it will do you no good. Channel that anger into something worth your time and peace, such as repairing the damage from the attack, or aiming to protect others from the misdeeds of others."
He picked up his tea again and took a deep drink. He then set the cup down and poured more for the three of them if needed. And took another drink.
"That is my advise, but feel free to ask me anything else, and I will be happy to help you further."

A calming serenity befell Aurus as Karma used her magic on him. For the first time in 20 years, he truly felt at peace. Old memories of happiness returned to him. Listening to his father's stories, helping his mother tend the farm, the picnics they would take as family. And then the most peculiar thing happened to him. He felt tears fall from his eyes. He wiped them from his face, staring at his hand in disbelief.
The feeling of peace left as the Duchess magic faded. He then bowed to the two elders. "Please... he said, his voice full of desperation. "Help me. Teach me how to get ride of this pain. I don't care how long it will take or how hard it will be."
