June 18, 23 CLE Yoshi's "Yours Truly" Concert Town Square
"...and you have a way with me...sway with me....sway with me...da-da-dum-DA-DA-DUM!" Yoshi hums through the beat from one of his favorite songs from backstage and hidden from the audience. The concert will begin soon and the members of his band prep and tune their musical instruments to their preferred sound. Two singers warm up as they sing an octave. Adorned circular tables, each with their own chairs, surround the dance floor with the fountain serving as the centerpiece of the floor. Food and beverages sit at the sides of the walls of the town square. They love to gather for some fun and a swing band concert will give them the enjoyment a yordle needs.
The excited and joyous Yoshi Tupelo swings his wand to and fro. He can't wait to perform to the crowd...
A little yordle scampers down the street, sticking close to alleyways and doing his best not to be noticed by the general public. Unfortunately, it very hard to do that in a populated city like Bandle. His ragged, torn, two year-old clothing is probably whats making him stick out like a sore thumb, and the flute isn't making things easier.
At any rate, he makes his way to where the concert will be held, sneaking around until nobody is looking so he can slip away to the stage area. Yoshi had said he'd have something for him... and hopefully he'd keep to his word. Being backstage isn't exactly something that's 'allowed' for audience members. He'd try and make his search for the maestro as quick as possible.
In an empty area in the seats for the concert, Jaslene is sitting and waiting for the concert itself to begin. While she waits, she has been tinkering with some rather small tools and clockwork parts. Next to her is an almost finished clockwork bird, and a couple of parts to finish it with.
She hums a tune while she works and waits for the concert to begin. Maybe she could give the bird as a gift to the musicians afterwards? If only she could make it sing, it would be nearly perfect of a gift for them...
Yoshi reaches for the wand as he finally puts on his special sparkling purple vest. The other members of the band are wearing lighter blue colors. He retreats back to his dressing room and takes a long look at the special green attire he bought for Teo. The performances he did between his first encounter with Teo and right now racked up more than enough money for Yoshi to buy him special formal dress for Teo. He even bought a nice tie for him. It's green and sparkling, just like Yoshi's vest.
Maybe he's not coming...
As he goes outside, he notices something moving in the shadows. It has the shape of a little yordle perhaps and a gut feeling tells Yoshi to follow it. But a few seconds later and Yoshi abandons his search for that mysterious thing and goes back to the backstage. He closes his eyes and whistles as he is about to inadvertently cross paths with Teo.
Teo waddles on, sticking close to the walls and shadows. He's already really nervous, and there aren't any other yordles around that he knows of who can see him.
Oh... what if he forgot about me? Maybe I shouldn't have come... I don't belong here...
It's at this moment that the little yordle turns a corner without think and walks straight into Yoshi, falling back onto his rump. Immediately he freezes, despite the pain. Whoever he'd just hit would surely be angry and send him away. Maybe they'd take him in to the police for how he looked. Maybe they'd recognize him and beat him up on the spot!
Yoshi falls down on his butt on the floor, not knowing who he hit. His first respond is usually the 'Oh I'm sorry, let me get you up.' But when he eyes at a certain bard young yordle, his eyes widen at disbelief. Teo DID came!
"T-Teo? T-Teo! You came!"
Yoshi reaches for Teo's hand, forcing him to stand up so that he could give a fatherly hug to the young yordle. He's glad that he made it to the concert! And thankfully he made it before it could start. There's plenty of time to prep him for the show!
Teo had his eyes squeezed shut with fear, but they open wide when he hears a familiar voice. Not long after he's tugged off the ground and pulled into a hug, nearly knocking the wind out of him. He shakily hugs back, blushing. Why was his face so hot?
"U-uh... I made it."
The hug gives him a warm feeling inside and he can't help but nuzzle into Yoshi's chest affectionately. It felt... almost like he had a father again.
Yoshi pulls out of the hug so that he could dust off his special tie. However, his little musician is out of shape, smells horribly, and not properly dressed. Certainly a hobo in a formally dressed swing band will not look good to the audience!
"Come quick, Teo! There's little time!" Yoshi urges Teo as he pulls his hand to the shower room. He places Teo by the door of the private shower room, quickly grabs soap, comb, and shampoo, and paces back towards him. Then he hands it to Teo and looks at the clock, worried about the time ticking away for the performance.
"We can delay the performance for you, Teo, but it's urgent that you shower quickly...and thoroughly! Your dress will be brought in once you're done."
Teo can barely keep up as Yoshi moves him along, stopping him in front of an odd door. It smelled funny, like one of the stores he used to visit with the owners of the orphanage. When the maestro fulls his arms with some objects he'd never seen before, the young yordle looks up confusedly.
"A... shower? W-what's that?"
When he was in the orphanage the kids all shared a bathtub with one bar of soap. Showers were something completely foreign to the kids. As for the passed two year, Teo would often go down to the river at times to wash up when he got pretty dirty, but that was it. this situation left him completely clueless.
Teo doesn't know how to shower? The thought is at first absurd, but he's living off in the forest with little to nothing to eat. Ouside, Yoshi shows off his concern that the show might get delayed. Inside though, melancholy and sympathy begins to build up in him. A moment of pause and Yoshi tries to imagine what it feels like not having a shower, good food, and no place to live in. Teo, for a young age, seems dying every day for such necessity. But the show. No one's going to like a bard on stage! The conductor has to teach him to shower and teach quick! The crowd isn't going to wait for a little boy to shower.
"Horatio! Can you delay the crowd!?" Yoshi pleaded as he paces back to his dressing room.
"What?! I don't know how to!" The nervous Horatio Amadeus objected. All the meanwhile, Yoshi searches for the towel and the things needed for Teo to clean himself.
"Just think of something! The little boy needs to be properly dressed for our show!"
"Wait a minute...you didn't tell me about Teo coming to perform!"
Yoshi dashes out of the closet with a spare dry towel in his arms. "It was last minute! Just! Just do it!" Horatio is left with no plan at all on stalling the show. And all this time, the other oblivious band members continue testing their instruments.
The older maestro looks down at Teo with a concerned look at his face. "So...you never showered, huh..."
Teo's eyes were always held on Yoshi, confused by the chaos. Had he done something wrong? Maybe he really shouldn't have shown up after all. His thoughts are cut short when the maestro returns to him, staring at him with that concerned expression. He glances away for a moment, thinking and also trying to avoid eye contact for a few seconds before looking back up at him slowly, using his nose as a focal point. The little yordle shakes his head in response.
Teo yelps when he's shoved into the shower room, feeling lost and confused. He looks around, trying to make sense of things. There are benches along the wall, towel racks on the short interrupter, and behind it are several strange metal things protruding from the stone. What was it Yoshi had told him? First he moves over to the benches and timidly removes his old rags. The leaves were dried and dead, the cloth frayed and stained. Even though he'd had them for quite a while, he is somewhat glad to be rid of them.
Next he walks over to the showering area, trailing a hand along the wall. He'd never seen anything quite like it before, and his belly was shivering with anticipation. It takes him a while to figure out that by turning the round silver things, water pours out from the metal hook-like things above. The water makes him yelp and stutter, not anticipating it to be so hot. Slowly he moves his hand in, retracting it quickly and then repeating the process until he's comfortable with it. Like... like water raining down on you...? Teo steps under the spray of water and lets it soak his fur. He sets down the shampoo and holds the soap up to smell it. Soap always smelled nice, and it is the only thing that he's seen before this whole thing. The young bard starts to rub it through his fur, making sure to get everywhere so that it bubbles a little before the water rinses it a little.
After he's done with the shampoo, he sets it down out of the way of the water and picks up the shampoo. The bottle is odd to him, and he fiddles around with it to find that the little tab at the top flips open and closed. He tilts up upside down while it's open, finding that a jelly-like substance starts slowly oozing into his hand. It smells as good as soap, except sweeter. When the blob in his hand grows to almost fill it, the little guy quickly flips it over and tries to close it again, then setting it down on the floor next to the soap. The consistency feels weird and it starts to ooze through his fingers, so he quickly slaps it on his head and lathers it about. Sure enough, cute bubbles start forming all over, and young Teo can't help but giggle to himself. Soon the bubbles are getting everywhere and Teo ceases his giggling, wondering if maybe he had too much. Quickly he steps under the water again, and like magic it all fizzles away, his fur feeling quite smooth and silky now.
After a few more minutes of soaking in the water, his fingers start to prune and he feels it's time to get out. Experimentally turning the metal thing the other way, the young yordle makes the water turn off, leaving him shivering from the sudden cold around him. He makes his way over to where he left the towel, draping it around him and using it to dry off quickly. Perhaps he'd taken too long and Yoshi is getting upset. Teo quickly grabs all of his things, still somewhat damp, and uses his rump to push the door open.
((So far, this is not my best when it comes to describing. ._.))
Yoshi wastes no time and with his spare towel, he wipes Teo all over his face to dry him up. He takes all of the soaked things Teo has and sets them aside. Then he wraps the towel around the little boy and escorts him to the dressing room. There, Teo's snazzy formal wear stands. The green-colored theme with his top hat, the tuxedo, the pants, and a cute bow tie for a cute little maestro. And besides him are the shoes, the underwear, the socks...everything! But with not a lot of time to waste, Yoshi needs to dress him fast.
"Okay. The dress is here and we need to get you set up. So put your underwear first and the shirt and...yea...let's get this fast..."
Teo does his best to let Yoshi take care of him quickly, following along and listening to directions as best he can. When he's brought to the dressing room, he can only stare at the outfit a little questionably, thinking it's a little... much. At any rate, he goes to get dressed on his own, quickly and quietly. There are a few things he's never seen before, but he's able to get the base things on in the right order. When it comes to the tie, however, all he can do is pick it up and stare with jaw slightly hung open. What exactly is it?
