"Work as a summoner?" He sighed happily and smiled widely. "Man, it was the greatest. I mean, sure, a couple...and, I mean a lot...of the summoners were kind of jerks. But when you met a nice one, they were great! And I built stuff for the Institute, which was always really fun. Don't forget that I got to command champions in combat!" He made a couple of striking motions to emphasize his point in the air, but then looked at Rose and shrank back a bit, grinning sheepishly.
"But yea. I wasn't very good at the commanding part...I spent most of my time in artificing." He sighed. "You should've seen how long it took to convert Wriggle's Lantern from an artifact to a weapon. That one was a lot of fun. Oh, and don't forget Maw of Malmortius! That one was my idea. And ten other Summoners." He laughed. "And you cannot forget that they funded any research I performed. Before they stepped in, my gauntlet could do one thing; summon. Now, it's...well, this!"
He would continue to babble on about the League and his (mis)adventures within the walls, definitely excited by the subject, until he either ran out of breath or Rose stopped him.
His excitement is infectious, and she finds herself grinning as he describes the different items he's worked on, and all the trouble he's gotten into in his work. The idea of commanding a champion... someone so powerful, with so many skills, and their mind laid bare at your fingertips? She could easily see how the job would be desirable.
Even the artificing aspect sounded fascinating; to have all your research backed and funded by the Institute? And what he'd done with the gauntlet was amazing; it seemed he had a major gift for inventing and improving.
Her interest remains high throughout, and she dives right into the subject. Having no firsthand knowledge of summoning, she'd known nothing about Wriggle's Lantern or the Maw until he told her, and it was a joy to learn more about what controlled major conflicts.

With Rose
Jay eventually ran out of breath, leading him to take a pause. "Well, that's life as a summoner. At least for me. It was great; I was sad to give it up." He gave a happy sigh and slumped a bit in his chair. "But life's still good. I mean...it would be nice to get back to artificing. But not everyone can have a shiny job like that, eh?" He gave her a small nudge in the shoulder in a joking manner.
"Y'know...it's nice talking to you, Rose." He gave her a quick smile. "You're a good listener. I usually don't talk this much."
With Marcy
Jay was still getting dressed as she called to him. "What?" He called before he understood what she said. "Oh. Bilgewater? Hm...I don't see why not. Better than Ionia. I'd probably get my arm punched off. And I'm not kidding." He jumped out the door, hopping as he tried to get his pants on. "My boss literally had her arm punched off. That Udyr is a beast."

Sometimes, when you've been stuck alone for long enough, you just have to break out into reality, with no regard for what position it may put you in. It is better to try and fail than to never try.

"I have to admit- working as a secretary doesn't sound all that glamorous, but I'd love to work with someone in the High Command. How do they treat you?" Her statements are blatant lies, but it might not seem obvious. They come with the same tone of interest as the rest of her conversation has so far, and carries an extra trace of admiration to drive it home as truth.
"And I like listening to you; your stories are great." Rose smiles back, being honest this time. "A shiny job does produce a lot of conversation material~"

Jay shrugged. "How do they treat me? Meh." He became slightly passive. "My boss, Ma'am Maria...she at least respects me. She only tells me to shut up if I overstep my bounds. But there's lots and lots of paperwork..." He shuddered slightly. "Swain himself is very straight-forwards, but is certainly a general. Everything from him is an order. He's not rude, but he's not polite." He sighed. "Outside of them, there's not really anyone that talks directly to me, though."
He twiddled his thumbs idly for a moment. "You know, you never mentioned what you do for work. Is it interesting?"

"Whoa, you've met Swain? I've only seen him once." It's a lie of omission, nimbly side-stepping the incident on the stage. "But that sounds- relatively okay, I guess, compared to some jobs."
Rose's eyes shift to the side at his question, and her smile seems awkward. "I guess you could say I'm a freelancer. Y'know- my skills aren't amazing, but there are a lot of people downtown who could use their documents destroyed." She snaps, bringing a small flame to her fingertips before blowing it out.
Jay was still getting dressed as she called to him. "What?" He called before he understood what she said. "Oh. Bilgewater? Hm...I don't see why not. Better than Ionia. "Getting you arm punched off? That sounds.. harsh." She said, she had never heard about someone punching of another person's arm. She wanted to go to Ionia too, but Bilgewater was closer than Ionia, at least she thought it was.
She smiled and moved up to him, giving him a long deep kiss. "I'm sure you wont get your arm punched off in Bilgewater."

With Rose
"Ah, you...uh...deal in filing things away permanently?" Jay smiled. "Man, I wish I was allowed to do that at work. Just..." He snapped his fingers a couple of times and smiled "...and foosh! They're gone. That'd be fun to watch, too."
With Marcy
Jay kissed her back and smirked. "Wouldn't let them if they tried. And I doubt you would, either." His smirk evolved into a smile as he looked at her. "I'll find a room for us over there. Up for doing it next week?"

Marcy thought on it for a second, "Next week is a bit short of time." she thought to herself, "But I don't have anything planned, I think, I shouldn't have anything planned." She continued in her head. She smiled and embraced him, "Yeah sure, let's do it next week. Just a warning though, I'm not good with the sea." She said with a cheery smile.

"Well, I have to admit, work's been thin on the ground lately. ...hey, we could be coworkers." Her laugh comes easily, but some anxiety shows through. "Having Swain as a boss, though; that's scary." She pulls a face.
(( Ah- no problem, I forgot my manners. Should've waited, since you did for me. ^^;; ))

With Rose
Jay thought for a moment. "Hm...you know...I bet you Ma'am Maria wouldn't mind taking another hand on board. If you wanted me to, I could see about getting you a job or something. Least I could do." He gave her a quick smile.
With Marcy
Jay smiled back at her. What he wasn't saying was that he was absolutely horrid on the water. But that problem could be taken care of later. "Great! We're going to Bilgewater, Marcy!" He gave her a big hug and a kiss on the cheek. "I have a feeling this will be a lot of fun."

Rose grins, unable to keep the expression from her face. "Thanks," she answers sincerely, nodding. "I think my landlord's gonna kill me if I go another month without paying rent..."
Her laugh seems a little nervous, but she brushes it off. "Anyway, thanks."

Marcy smiled and hugged him back, "I'm sure it will." She gave him a kiss on his cheek and looked at him, "I have to go back home now though, got some things to take care of. Come by for dinner later?" She asked him with a cheery smile, awaiting his answer before leaving to go home.

With Rose
Jay chuckled. "Yea, don't I know it. My landlord was so pissed when I painted my door blue." He nudged her a bit. "But really, anything for a friend, y'know? And not everyone can manage to follow Noxian ideals to the letter, but everyone deserves a chance at it." He saw she got a bit nervous there and gave her a small smile. "Hey, if I'm moving too fast, I could always take back the job offer..." he joked clearly.
With Marcy
Jay nodded. "That sounds great. I'll be by later, still have some work to finish up here. See you then, then?" He gave her a quick hug as she left, going back to work at his desk shortly after.

"Oh, you too?" she teases in return. "I didn't paint anything in my apartment, but I tacked up a couple of posters in my room, and man- let me tell you." She rolls her eyes.
"Anyway, I'm totally fine with you offering the job." Sonder laughs. "My nerves were more based in worrying about the Noxian ideal; I've heard government jobs are pretty strict about that. But, also- I was thinking maybe that, I have a reference, name of Daichi Hamamoto, if that's helpful?"
Post by Jay D. McIna on Sept 19, 2013 0:03:53 GMT -5
"Daichi Hamamoto...hm." Jay thought for a moment. "The name doesn't ring a bell, but I don't know everyone the government works with. But if he's not wanted for anything, I doubt it would make your application look bad, to say the least." Jay sat for a moment, closing his eyes as if thinking. "Enough with bureaucracy, though. I bet you'll get the job in a heartbeat.
"Y'know...I'm glad we met." He paused and moved a bit closer to her. "You're really fun to be with, Rose." He stretched a bit, resting his arms over the back of the sofa as he sat besides her. "If destiny is a real thing, I bet you that in a hundred years, people will look back and say 'Oh, that's Rose. She did awesome stuff! And that's her friend Jay, who gave her the job that let her do that awesome stuff!" He snickered to himself.
