"Daichi Hamamoto...hm." Jay thought for a moment. "The name doesn't ring a bell, but I don't know everyone the government works with. But if he's not wanted for anything, I doubt it would make your application look bad, to say the least." Jay sat for a moment, closing his eyes as if thinking. "Enough with bureaucracy, though. I bet you'll get the job in a heartbeat.
"Y'know...I'm glad we met." He paused and moved a bit closer to her. "You're really fun to be with, Rose." He stretched a bit, resting his arms over the back of the sofa as he sat besides her. "If destiny is a real thing, I bet you that in a hundred years, people will look back and say 'Oh, that's Rose. She did awesome stuff! And that's her friend Jay, who gave her the job that let her do that awesome stuff!" He snickered to himself.
Having seen this move before, she leans in under his arm, making herself comfortable there. "I don't think he is~" Rose looks up at him, checking briefly to see if he looks alright with the situation.
"I've not been known to believe in destiny- but I think we'll be seen in the same light," she encourages him, smiling. "As an artificer, you've influenced League matches. Me? Hah, I'll end up the Grand General, and only history will know my name in a hundred years." Her grin is warm and cocky, though she doesn't really believe it.

Jay didn't argue against her making herself comfortable. Her warm body was cozy to cuddle against. "Heh, Grand General? I'd like to see that. Like, legitimately. I would. But I doubt history would have room for the individual summoner. I'm the guy who got the stage manager a cup of water during a play. No one remembers them when the play is done, let alone me, but I don't mind."
He lowered his arm from the couch to Rose's shoulder. "The small people get to stay quiet, but their whisper may shatter mountains. I think Swain might have said that. Sounds like something he'd say...maybe mockingly, though." He looked at Rose with a small smile. "What d'you think?"

"It does sound like something he'd say, mockingly or not." Her smile is wide and charming. "But- really, Grand General? I don't know if I have the-" She pauses, and coughs politely to announce a pun. "-tactical prowess- for that job." Embarrassment shines in her eyes as she meets his, waiting for the response to her joke before continuing.
"...I think that, without the townspeople, the Mayor is out of a job. I think that he'd say it- but he wouldn't fear the background characters." Rose offers a smirk. "If anyone here were to challenge him, he could strike them down without a second thought, and fear no whispering thunder from us."

Jay snickered at her bad pun, smiling after he caught himself. He always loved puns, and they would have to be some remarkable level of bad for him not to laugh. "I guess you could say you don't have the birdbrain for the job." He laughed at his own joke, but then stopped. "Oh, uh, sorry...that wasn't very polite." With a small blush he carried on with the conversation.
"I like to think that the General would give everyone a second chance. He could get rid of anyone in his way, but sometimes anyone could be useful. But then I remember he's just some tactical thinker, not a guy who thinks with this." He thumped his chest lightly. "I mean, it's not in everyone's favor to think with their hearts--I mean, heart--but he even chooses his muffins tactically." He smiled at her and pulled her closer. "But hey, as long as I get the choice to think with my heart, I'll be fine."

"No worries- I've heard worse about the Grand General." Her cheeks flare a little, as well, and she hopes he won't ask where. That conversation with Nevin was one that shouldn't be repeated, especially on her new job. If I get it, of course. No good in being too hopeful just yet.
"Yeah, that's the thing; he chooses what's good for Noxus over personal morality." Rose shrugs. "I like to think that I can put my emotions aside, but in most cases, my morality- my heart, I guess- comes first. If it'll hurt someone in a big way, I don't... care if it's better for me." Her eyelashes flutter once or twice, as though in surprise, and she pauses.
"Sorry. That was a little heavy." Red flushes over her cheekbones, and she leans in, resting her head lightly on his collarbone. "I prefer to choose my muffins with impulse~"

Jay gave her a sidelong glance, but shrugged it off. To be honest, he preferred morality over power as well. But he wouldn't tell her that. "That's very...ideal. It's good to have ideals, even if you can't reach them. It at least gives you something to reach for." He fidgeted for a moment. "Uh...excuse me. I'll be right back."
He got up from his seat and rushed into the kitchen, the door closing behind him. He caught his breath and poured himself a quick drink of water. Rose was questioning some of the things he had accepted as fact, and making sense of it. But he just caught himself and wound down a bit, taking another breath before setting his glass down and walking back out the door.
"I'm sorry, I was thirsty. Want anything to drink?" He stayed near the door, and if she asked for something to drink, she'd grab it for her and come to sit besides her. Otherwise, he'd just sit back down and go back into their half-cuddling position.

Rose stretches out over the couch, uncertain what to think of his response. He'd seemed uncomfortable with something, and she couldn't tell if it was over his lie or her words. The fidgeting gave it away, to an extent. Could've been both, she muses. Just hope he's not too freaked out, now.
On his return, he seems calmer, and she nods to him, eyes gleaming with some arcane mischief. "No worries- and yeah, some water might be nice." A polite smile punctuates her words.

Jay got her a glass of water and sat besides her again, offering it to her gently. "Here you go." He sipped it quietly and got comfortable next to her again. "So, it's been a long night. You were looking through those books earlier; anything you think you might need help understanding?" He looked up at her, smiling honestly as he locked gaze with her. His eyes seemed oddly calm for the first time tonight, like he finally felt right at home with her.

Rose takes one of the books from her bag and props it open on her lap, flipping to a chapter that interests her to see if there's anything confusing. "I don't think it's a difficulty in understanding, so much as in execution. My self-control's never been the best." A smile tugs at the corner of her mouth, and she kisses his cheek. The steadiness in his gaze surprises her- it feels like they've been friends for much longer than this one evening, with the way he looks at her. It's been pleasant; he hasn't been crude, and his books will prove immensely helpful to her when she gets the chance to look through them more intensively.
Idly, she wonders how old he is. Can't be the same age as I am, can he? With a teasing grin, she asks- earlier in the evening, she wouldn't, but it's a more comfortable atmosphere, now.

Jay kept smiling, even though as he was kissed his eyes flickered slightly in shock. With a small blush, he stumbled on his words. "Uh, well...it's...um...sometimes, uh..." He paused for a moment, trying to collect himself long enough to get something coherent out. "...I-I sometimes don't have much either. Self control, that is." He paused again and then leaned down to give Rose a quick kiss on her own cheek, which lead him to blush even more deeply. He wasn't sure if he'd overstepped something, or--
--oh, she asked him his age. With a sigh of small relief, he nodded a bit. "I-I'm...uh...seventee--no, that's not right. I'm...twenty something. Twenty seven? Yea, twenty seven sounds about right." He glanced at her with a smile. "I'd ask the same, but if my parents taught me anything, it's not to ask a woman her age. Not without their permission, at least." Inwardly, he was kind of happy she kissed him. She seemed really nice, and definitely looked great...even if he oscillated between awkward and calm at the drop of a hat around her.

"And you're sure you're twenty-seven; no more confusion?" Her smile was teasing, but kind- she's accustomed to such flustered demeanors. "I'm twenty, giving you more age over me than I expected. Anyway, I think it's generally... just don't ask women who look like they might be older." Rose blushes, remembering a few partners she's had.
"You're alright with it, then? Ah- kissing? Just want to make sure; self-control jokes are all well and good, but I don't want to overstep any boundaries." She brushes a few strands of hair out of her eyes.

Jay gave her a small smile. "Yea. Twenty-seven." He gave a small chuckle. "It's a nice number if you like that kind of thing."
When she asked about the kissing, he blushed a bit. "W-well...yea, i-it's fine. Good. Great." His cheeks reddened even more with every word; he really wasn't used to this kind of thing, admittedly.

She places a hand on his rapidly-heating face. "I do like numbers, actually." It's both a validation and an admission, though the softest of sighs marks the air at his bright, hot cheeks.
"...so, there's no-one I should be worried about? Because I might consider doing some things that a girlfriend would be royally displeased with."
Rose's eyes spark with wickedness as she leans in further, taking advantage of how flustered he is. Her grin is nothing if not experienced as she rests her head on his chest, giving him the chance to say 'yes' or 'no'.

Jay's breath caught as she touched his cheek, and as she moved her head to his chest, his eyes followed her. He paused. "Well...yes. I mean no. I mean...there's no one to worry about." His blush receded slightly, and he lay a hand on her back quietly. "I...uh...uhm..." he stuttered out, really slightly taken aback by her advances, even if he enjoyed it.

Her expression seems to indicate both amusement and warmth, without the mocking that a grin might have held. "We could just sleep," she says, and it's an honest offer, carrying the promise of an innocent night between the sheets. After all, why not? They've just met, and it seems he might not be prepared so quickly.
