The day had come. Jaslene had gathered everything she would need on a long trip. Clothes -some of them very different from her usual mechanic's outfits-, money for food and anything she might need, her toolbox, Mexxie and such. Everything was packed, prepared and ready... all she had to do now was head to the dock.
So, she grabs her bags in one hand, and a carrying case she had built for Mexxie, made of similar metallic struts and pieces as the box it was suited to carry, in the other one and heads on over to the docks. Wearing her usual oily and greasy overalls, she walks with a smile on her face and her orange safety goggles over her eyes to the docks.
The docks were somewhat busy today, trade ships being loaded and unloaded and the ship she was headed for had just arrived, carrying some people coming to Bandle City, which made it hard for her to make her way to the correct pier as she looks for her old friend Ron, who had managed to get her along for this trip. She heard the trip itself on the boat would be long, but she had Mexxie and her tools along to spend time on, and she had Ron to talk to and maybe think of something with to make the trip less stale.
So, she stops on the pier next to the ship, waiting for Ron to appear, sitting down and keeping all of her bags next to her, starting to switch around the levers on Mexxie's side as she waits for her friend to arrive.
Ron appeared from within the captain's cabin, as he just now acquired the required money since he needed to use everything else he had before to buy all the ingredients, clothes, packs, boxes for his more fragile stuff, salted vegetables since he was a vegetarian so they would last for the ride and of course his recommendation letter, sticking out of his pocket a bit because he didn't want anyone else to have it.
This journey was a dream coming true for the young alchemist. He would miss home, but he promised himself that he would return to Bandle some day. As he approached the pier, he saw Jaslene waiting for him. Charmed by her as always, he almost slipped down the board to the pier and into the water. He took a second to balance himself then poked her shoulder from behind her.
Jaslene blinks as she is poked on her shoulder, having expected Ron to come from a direction she could see. In her surprise, she accidentally presses the button on top of Mexxie, causing the box to activate and the mechanical hands to come out. Due to not having finished the sequence, the arms don't act as she had planned, and she manages to get slapped by her own invention a couple of times before she reaches the reset button.
Sighing afterwards, she turns to Ron, laughing a bit with her cheeks reddening from the slaps. Realizing everything is looking orange still, she lifts her safety goggles from her eyes up to her forehead.
Yah, I'm ready to go when you are, just gotta put Mexxie here back to 'er case so I don't have to lug 'er around like a box and can just carry 'er like a suitcase or somethin'.
So, everything still in order with the ship?

Ron laughed a bit at the display and offered Jaslene his hand. "Hehe, that does seem like the best idea. And yeah, the ship is ready to depart, just waiting for us and two more late passengers. The captain is nice and apparently traveled this route 30 times now in the last 3 years, back and forth. I'm not an expert but it seems alright... I hope at least hehe." He said, scratching the back of his head.
"Here let me help you." He said, offering Jaslene up with his left hand and attempting to pick up the case with his right one.
Jaslene places Mexxie in the carrying case before taking Ron's hand and standing up again. The case the invention was in would feel surprisingly heavy, most likely due to the amount of parts inside the invention held in it.
Sounds good enough fo' me. Heh... this'll be an interestin' trip. Even before we reach Piltover that is, just spendin' a looong time on a ship is somethin' new to me...
Ron tried to show that lifting the box was easy. Truth be told, it is possible that Jaslene was stronger than him due to his lack of physical activity other than sweeping, working as a bartender and studying. The case was almost too heavy for him and he almost slipped as they were going up to the ship.
"Yeah, it would be interesting now wouldn't it?" Ron said as he pondered on the subject of sea-sickness. He could come up with some formula to keep the stomach from causing issues if anything happens. He lifted himself with the case to the ship, going before Jaslene. The Yordle captain that commandeered the ship welcomed them and a sailor showed them to their cabin.
"Ummm.... I'll take the floor... I guess?" The ship was packed and no more rooms were left.
Jaslene follows behind Ron, chuckling a bit at the trouble he's having with carrying the case. She could've carried it herself with no problems, she's used to working and carrying heavy materials after all, but Ron wanted to be a gentleman it seems.
So it seemed there was only one cabin left. Well... that could be a bit uncomfortable, but four weeks on a boat in itself was already like that, so Jaslene didn't give it a second thought.
If ya want Ron, I've slept on the floor of the workshop a few times and all, so I won't mind if ya wanna take the bunk.
She pulls the safety goggles from her head, folding them and placing them in the pocket of her mechanic's overalls, right next to her trusty old wrench.
Ah guess there'll be a fair bit of commotion on this boat if there's not even a single extra cabin left, huh?

Ron chuckled and placed the box and his case down. "Yeah, I guess. Maybe I'll be able to convince the staff to give us another mattress or maybe even a futon if nothing else eh?" He said as he sat down on a chair.
The cabin had quite a bit of space to say the least. It span for 6x6 meters and had a bathroom connected to it with a shower, toilet, sink and mirror. The bed itself was a double mattress bed on a steel bunk with two blankets and two pillows as is the norm. A table with two chairs was in the other side of the room from the bed and two closets were from each side of the bed. An end table was at the right side of the bed too.
"Well it's not a 5 star service, but it's not a low quality one either eh? Got what we paid for I guess, not much with my current paygrade eh?."
Jaslene looks over the room quickly, shrugging with a chuckle.
I think this place is better than what I got at home, but comfort never was a big thing for me, if it was, would I be getting my hands covered in grease and grime all day, eh Ron?
She grins at Ron before turning around and heading to the bathroom. After all, she'd been working still this morning, and her hands were as usual, covered in stains. It was good she had packed the day before, or everything in her bags would be covered in them as well.
Just try not to get seasick. She shouts from the bathroom, followed by some barely audible humming as she starts to clean up all the dirt and grease from her hands. This'd be a long trip... but it was good to get away from home now and then.
Ron thought for a moment and replied to Jaslene as she went to the bathroom. "Well... Comfort is nice y'know. Living with my parents..." Ron was cut off when he felt a tug in his stomach. The waves rocked the ship and it made him feel dizzy. He could feel his breakfast rising as he rushed to the bathroom.
He finished after it was all out. "Too late..." He said with a weak voice.
Jaslene glances to Ron as she continues to wash her hands, laughing a bit to herself.
This is gonna be a long trip for ya, huh? We've not even left the port yet, have we? And you're already seasick? Gee Ron... get a grip of yerself.
After managing to get her hands finally clean under the multiple levels of grease and dust, she dries them up and walks out of the bathroom, and heading out of the cabin to the top of the ship, shouting towards the bathroom as she goes.
I'm gonna go up to the deck Ron, see you there if your stomach manages to calm down.
As Jaslene went to the top deck Ron went and quickly washed his face. He then dried up and went to his alchemy kit, still drowsy and meek. He took out some peppermint, chamomile and various powders and mixed them together. He then added some water and a bit more powder and made a paste out of the mixture. He put some of the mixture in a cup and added some warm water from the shower. He mixed, drank it up and crashed on the bed.
Up on the deck, Jaslene looks around for a moment before making her way to the railing on the side, waiting for the ship to take off from the harbor. It'd be a long trip, and she wanted to get the last looks of her home city before being stuck only seeing the ocean waves for a month.
Goodbye Bandle City... goodbye mom and dad... I'll see you all in a few months I guess...
With a sigh, she leans against the railing and watches the city until the ship takes off and makes it's way out of the harbor.

It wasn't long until Ron started snoring. And then the nightmares started.
He was 5 years old again, returning home from the primary school with his father who returned to work. He walked up the stairs to his childhood home and ringed the bell, calling out "Mom it's me!" at the door. After a few seconds the door opened and his mother stood there, her arms spread for a hug. It wasn't long before he was sitting in the kitchen, explaining his mother his first day of school. She laughed and told him that it was "Quite the adventure" and he told her that it wasn't an adventure, much like little kids would tell their mothers to correct them. He told her that he want to have a real adventure someday and be famous. His mother laughed and moved to kiss him on the brow. "I'm sure you will be sweetie", she said and went back to cook.
That afternoon, after lunch, Ron went and explored the house like he used to when he wasn't outside, playing with the other children of Bandle City. He went into the storeroom which was also his father's workplace as he was a mechanic outside of his normal work. He found a small red lighter and started playing with it, pretending he was magician of great skill, or a dragon that breaths fire! His choices were endless. He moved the lighter around for a while and unfortunately, a cloth was caught in it's way and started burning. Soon the whole storage area was burning too. Ron started crying and his mother quickly ran in hearing the crying and starting to smell the smoke. She quickly led him outside the house and called someone to get the firefighters. She then remembered she forgot something of value in the house and ran inside. Ron wanted to follow her but she told him to stay outside.
A minute passed, two minutes passed. She never came out. The firefighters arrived by then and started fighting the fire which spread across the whole house. The flame seemed to die for a while, but it wasn't long before the whole structure collapsed. Ron still waited for his mother to return, but she never did.
Jaslene, oblivious of what Ron was going through below deck, merely looks at the sea. She wasn't usually really the type for the girly dreaming, the romantic views of the sea and such, but this trip, to the city of technology, to the center of progress, was quite an unbelievable prospect to the young mechanic. She had barely ever left the borders of Bandle City, she had been too busy with all the repairwork and machines to even dream about leaving, and now, here she was, on a month long boat cruise with her old friend to the city that most yordle mechanics and bright minds dream of going to.
Why was she going though? She wasn't one of those bright minds, those geniuses of the future that would make a name for themselves in the Revered Inventor Heimerdinger's footsteps. She wasn't one for all the fancy, expensive state-of-the-art parts that they used, she as like her idol Rumble, working with old, rusty, greasy junk with loving care, and creating what she could with just those old things. That was what she was, trusting in the old sturdy, clunky parts rather than the sleek, brittle things that they used these days to conserve space for more parts. "Bah, why am I even thinking of this? This is supposed to be a trip for fun, something to go through with Ron while I can since he's gonna stay there... it's gonna be boring in Bandle without his special drinks though..."
