Jadefellow nods to the woman, his nose twitching slightly when he scrunches it. "I will not personally give out details of this meeting, and neither will anyone in this building. However, chances are you were spotted on your way here, and my people are the kind to gossip and speculate. Rumors will spread around the city, but most likely they won't make it outside of the yordle lands. As for sparring pits..."
He pauses to adjust his glasses and sip from his cup of tea, glancing over at Poppy with a small smile. "If my records are correct, I believe the ambassador will know more on that subject."

Sparring pits? Hah, I do not know of any, unless you mean the Megling Commandoes and their training rings.
Poppy shrugs, looking at the Mayor sternly, perhaps even more so than usual. Did he not hear her question at all? Or was he purposefully trying to guide her away from it? Who knew anymore, but it didn't matter. What mattered here, was that she would have to push back getting actually home once more... to yet again guide these Freljordians.
If that is what you indeed mean Mayor, perhaps someone else could guide them there? I somewhat wish to visit my home again, and I have been with these Freljordians for months now... I could use a bit of privacy once in a while after all.

Dennison nods once to Poppy, taking a second to ponder something. "If that is what you wish, ambassador. But I do hope you find time to stop by so we can have that chat you requested. Though we gather what we can in terms of information, it is sometimes hard, what with our seclusion from much of the world."
He clears his throat, turning back to the large woman, folding his hands calmly on his desk once more. "But yes, the only sparring pits in the city as far as I'm aware belong to our military. They may be wary of allowing guests in, but I think learning to spar against some humans would be good practice for them. Mix things up a bit, you know?"
"I would be honoured to do battle with your warriors, mayor. Now, for the time being, I do not have any further business to discuss. If you should need anything of me or my men, come find us. I must ask, however, about the question of lodging. We would rather not stay in a local inn if it can be avoided. Would it be possible to lodge here, or perhaps in another official building?"
Fraya appears to remember that she probably should have already removed her helmet, and does so, shaking the filthy brown mop that passes for her hair out. Her halfhelm would have given her a noticable case of helmet hair, what with all the grease in it.

Jadefellow scratches his chin, eyes turning to Poppy for a moment before moving back to Fraya. "I'm not sure that lodging will be necessary, but we do have a more suitable building set aside for our taller guests just in case. I must inform you that although you are welcomed guests our city Guard and Scouts will be keeping a close eye on you just in case any trouble stirs up or you need to be contacted again. I'll send someone to retrieve you when our meeting has concluded and a decision has been made."

Poppy merely leans back against her chair silently. She had spent so much time with the Freljordians as of recent, that she is just waiting to be done with them by now. Their habits and ways were rather... unlike those she had been used to with Demacians and her own kind.
Well, at least if trouble stirs up, our good old captain can probably just give the troublemakers a dart to the neck to calm them down.
She shrugs, as if not knowing whether to make that statement seem serious or humorous. She never was any good with humor and it's like.
And Mayor, it is not like I have anything but free time. I can be around to have that chat at any time, I do not come back home to work after all.

The mayor gives a small wave as the woman takes her leave. "Have a nice stay, Fraya. And I give you fair warning about running into any children. Yordle children are far more curious than you may be used to!"
Once Fraya has left and the guards have followed her out, Jadefellow turns to Poppy with a nod, sipping from his tea once more. "As for you ambassador, I'll have you notified as well once our meeting has concluded. I'd rather our chat be commenced as soon as possible so that you have as much time to relax as you can before returning to Demacia."

Poppy merely nods, leaning back in her chair with a stern, sure grip on Whomper, never letting the hammer out of her sight.
Indeed. To make this the easiest for both of us... what is the latest news you have received from Demacia? So I can fill you in on what's happened since.
This would be the point where she would see how fast news truly traveled between the two states. If the news about King Jarvan the 3rd had yet to arrive... it would be somewhat of a disappointment, yet understandable with the distance between the two states.
Hopefully there isn't too much to fill you in on, would be a shame to take so much of your time just for news.

The mayor purses his lips, his expression becoming a little more grim. He takes a moment of silence to let the question sink in, as well as enjoy what he is hoping was a sarcastic remark. "News is never a shame when it comes to politics, Poppy. Especially if it involves our allies. Speaking of such, we got word from one of our couriers not long ago about the king. I'm... terribly sorry for your loss. And theirs. I can only hope that things come to order quickly and the peace between our city states remains strong."
Post by The Iron Ambassador on Feb 27, 2014 14:08:47 GMT -5
Ah, that news has arrived... good. I do wonder what caused the King's death. Jarvan the 3rd was not in a bad shape physically... wasn't like him to fall like that. I also wonder how Galio is taking it... the Guardian was unable to catch the king in time. I hope he doesn't take it as hard as he did back when his creator was assassinated.
Poppy sighs and looks to the side. Galio was her closest friend, the only one who truly knew how she felt, what she felt. The Guardian was not one to be swayed as easily as most humans, not after how he was inspired by her actions long ago.
When I get back to Demacia... I probably will have to give him a visit, to make sure he is alright. A valiant spirit and a strong body of stone does not mean they can endure anything after all.

Dennison nods, only a few times. His eyes drift to the side and he reclines into his seat a little, ears cupped forwards and hands folded over his stomach. "I'm sure you will, ambassador. From my understanding you may be the one who best knows how to comfort him at a time like this, as I'm sure his spirit is a bit stressed by these events."
His nose twitches a little and he turns to the window, brow furrowing. "I'm afraid there isn't much good news to give here either. We've yet to receive word on how the scouts are doing in Ionia, though I was expecting them to have returned by now. Tristana was deployed to the Institute of War to provide assistance and gather information about the rest of Runeterra, though I've yet to be told how things are moving. Either Delphine doesn't feel the information sent back is important enough to be brought to me, or there's no news to be had in the first place."
Post by The Iron Ambassador on Mar 1, 2014 13:48:32 GMT -5
Perhaps you should go ask her if there were any news at all? And Tristana left to the Institute? Do you know why exactly she did that? It seems odd for her to leave Bandle City and her kind like that... even if it is to help the Institute and the rest of the world.
Poppy places Whomper against the side of the chair, bringing her hands together in a thoughtful pose. The world had become quite restless. Undead invasions, Void creatures, Noxus retreating from the League's influence, making them able to focus on whatever nefarious plots they wish.
Then again... one must think further than their own kind these days. On that notion... I must wonder the future of Demacia. Jarvan the 3rd was a wise, calm man. He knew when to peacefully negotiate, when to take action. I fear that his son might lead towards a different style. Despite the wisdom he seems to have gained during his excursion years ago... he lets his anger control him.
When the Master Tactician brought forward that Demacian prisoner back during the Kalamanda incident... it was only his father's influence that stopped a confrontation right there and then. I fear... that Jarvan the 4th might lead his nation down a path controlled purely by his anger, rather than the well-being of his kind. While he obviously loves and cares for his people... his rage overwhelms his judgment often.

Jadefellow slowly nods again, mulling over the information in his head in quiet. "Yes, a troublesome thought. I also worry as much. But, unfortunately, things are as they are. We must be happy with what we have, and hope for what we want. Hopefully Jarvan the fourth will be able to lead with a level head, or at least have an adviser to keep him so. But, uh..."
He falters with a slight cough, turning to look out the window. It gives a wonderful view of half of Bandle, and some of the outlying forests as well. The Sablestone Mountains loom in the distance, cut off only by the ocean. When he speaks again his ears drop a little, voice audibly more aged. "It seems we've got a lot more to hope for than we used to, these days. Some are starting to take notice in the city. Perhaps our usual carefree nature shall be our downfall, allowing fear to consume our citizens,"

Or it might be our kind's salvation Mayor. It means we know how to make the best of life, how to live day by day. It means we know how to find happiness where others would only find darkness. We just need an inspiring leader Mayor... the kind you have been all these years.
The edges of Poppy's mouth move up slightly, showing the closest expression to a smile that anyone would've seen from the Ambassador in years. It was important to her to make sure her home wouldn't fall into despair, and starting with the most influental figures of the City was important.
After all, an inspiring leader can make their subjects proudly and gloriously fight to protect their loved ones, even if the fight is doomed. Something I have learned from Demacians, is to never give up hope. Never surrender to overwhelming odds out of fear. If there is to be an end... it is better to make it worth remembering, don't you agree?
When the Shadow Isles tried to invade Demacia, the people were afraid. The soldiers, trained for war and death, were unsure of themselves. But one speech from Prince Jarvan, and some supporting words from yours truly, raised their morale and gave them the courage to forge onward, to protect their loved ones when it seemed Death itself had come to claim their home.
Stay strong Mayor. If not for yourself, but for those you love. For those you wish to protect. For your people.
