September 8th, 23 CLE
For three... no, nearly four weeks Poppy had traveled with the Freljordian envoy. While she still disagreed with them, she had seen how they fight, and how they act. They were desperate for assistance, that much she knew from what she overheard from weeks ago from their plans to try and take a hostage if things go sour.
As they reach the Yordle Lands, all of the danger that the lands before seems to disappear. In the distance, Bandle City could be seen, with all it's bustling streets. Home...
We are almost finished with this trek. I hope for you have prepared a good speech to convince the mayor, for your village's sake. But again, Bandle City usually does not take well to the Winter's Claw... who see peaceful life such as ours as a weakness.
It takes about an hour longer for them to reach the gates of Bandle City, where the guards look surprised. Poppy wasn't supposed to be coming for visit yet... and there were humans with her? And they did not look Demacian.
Ambassador, welcome home. Might I ask who your companions are?
Unfortunately, I cannot tell you at this time. They need to see the mayor.
As you wish Ambassador, they're free to enter.
Poppy nods at Fraya and the other two Freljordians, signaling them to enter the gates. She quickly motions the gate guard to follow her to the side, and she quietly, most likely too quietly for the human ear to hear, whispers to him.
Tell the Meglings to be prepared. In case the Mayor does not agree with their view, they might go to extremes. I overheard a conversation during the travel they thought I was not in range to hear. They may try to take a hostage.
The guard nods and signals for another guard to take over his spot for now, heading towards the Megling headquarters. Poppy calmly walks to Fraya, looking at her with usual grim serious look.
Having taken to leaving their bearskins in a rucksack weeks previous, Fraya and her two companions would stand out slightly less, clad in only leather armour. Their weapons, however, were still proudly displayed. Fraya, herself in a sleeveless leather brigandine and halfhelm, looks down to answer.
"Faster we can, the better. We've no intention of lingering longer than we need to. We'll be needed back in the village, and I can't imagine anyone'll be too broke up about us leaving. Lead the way."

With a slight nod, Poppy turns around wordlessly, starting to walk through the streets towards the City Hall. They'd have to go through a fair bit of the city to get there, and would most likely attract some attention. As a champion of the League, she was used to the attention by now, but it was still quite irritating to her, thought she never showed it. The fans meant well after all.
There would be curious yordle children looking at the Freljordians, some of them coming up close, trying to be careful not to disturb them, but in usual yordle fashion, they would get probably too close for human standards of personal space. Hopefully the Mayor wouldn't be too busy... the sooner this was over, the better.
Fraya does her best to shoo the children away without drawing more attention than she already has. Regardless, she'd likely still be scary to the young Yordles. She turns to Poppy again.
"Your mayor. Describe him to me. I need to know how best to talk to him if I am to succeed today."

Poppy shrugs, continuing to walk forwards as some of the children start to shy away from the visitors.
Not sure how much I can say. I see him surprisingly little... I do not visit Bandle City too often, as my work keeps me in Demacia.
What I can say though, is that he is a compassionate and wise man. Yordles wouldn't let anyone who does not care deeply for our community lead them after all. I do not know much about him however, so I cannot help you much on this.
She ponders how much she should say, the memory of the conversation she overheard weeks ago still fresh in her mind. Jadefellow would understand their plight, but most likely wouldn't be able to give much help to them. It would be amusing however if the Freljordians attempted to take her as hostage as they planned back then... they obviously didn't know of what the summoners called "Diplomatic Immunity".
Fraya's expression turns pensive for a moment, as if she is deciding how best to approach the situation with the information given.
"That should be enough. Perhaps he has qualities like my mother has. I know how to reason with that sort of person. I just hope he isn't the coward I was told I'd find."
She pauses for a brief moment, looking around to see if there are anyone of note following them.
"Do you know if we could hurry up? Every second we spend out in public makes this more dangerous."

I don't think that will be possible, unless you wish to draw even more attention to yourselves. Besides, I have not been home in months... I do not wish to rush along.
Poppy looks around as they walk, they were fairly close to the City Hall by now, and would be there soon no matter what. It would not really even matter if they went faster.
Besides, we are almost there already. Just a few more blocks of houses to go.
Hopefully, she would have time to relax at the smithy before heading back to Demacia. As much as she was dedicated to her work at the Embassy, there were times when she would rather just sit at home... reminiscing of her lost past, honing her skills as a smith, keep her father's legacy alive...
Fraya leans closer to Poppy. She speaks just loudly enough to be heard over the noise of Bandle's streets.
"If anyone asks, my companions and I are...Avarosan merchants. We are here to discuss trade with your mayor between Ashe's people and Bandle. Nobody knows who we are unless I say so. I will tell your mayor when the time comes, but not with unnecessary ears in the room. I've heard how 'friendly' your people are, and I don't trust them not to spread stories."

You do remember that I AM the one who told you about the yordles and their habits to make sure you don't misinterprate their actions?
Poppy sighs and shakes her head, continuing to walk at a steady pace, the City Hall now being already in sight. These freljordians started to seem more dense by the minute... or perhaps something was clouding her judgment. Whichever it was, didn't matter for now. The City Hall was close, and she could finish this whole episode with them and get to visiting her home again properly...
And I will not lie to my kind... I will rather avoid answering completely than tell a lie to my own people. This is not my problem, don't act like I am to care about it enough to lie for you. My work is limited to relations with the Demacians, just be glad that I was there to guide you here, to get you into the city at all and to meet the mayor. Even that was because I needed to visit home anyways...
"Then perhaps we'd both be happier if we simply kept quiet until we reach the hall."
Fraya turns her head back forward, and occasionally around to check for followers. The Freljordians would likely smell even less pleasant than usual, with the heat of Bandle City being a sharp contrast to the frigid temperatures of their homeland.

It matters not... we've arrived anyway.
Poppy looks up at the City Hall, pondering to herself. No doubt the Mayor had heard the news about Demacia already, the seatrade often brought in news after all. At least that was something she didn't have to mention to anyone. She makes her way inside quietly, looking as stern and serious as always. She heads straight to the reception desk, looking at the official there and nodding in greeting.
Hello. Is the mayor available? There are visitors here who need to talk to him.
Hopefully, the Freljordians wouldn't resort to anything foolish. There was no way they would get out of here, especially if they tried to go after Poppy herself. They would quickly see why, if they were as desperate as she thought.
The Freljordians stand near the door after following Poppy in. They exchange minute glances, but otherwise quietly wait. They would seem a little tense, for what reasons, would be a mystery.

Nellie sits up in her chair when Poppy enters, a little surprised and excited, but hiding it behind a rather unemotional expression. She'd had a boring day with surprisingly little visitors and paperwork to fill out. To answer Poppy's question, she nods and does a quick check of the mayor's schedule. "Good afternoon, ambassador. The mayor is currently available if you wish to speak to him. Might I ask who these guests are?"
She cranes her neck, only now paying heed to the humans who'd entered with Poppy. They're a little frightening, but considering they were brought here by the ambassador they must be decent.

From what I've gathered since they appeared at the Embassy in Demacia... they prefer to stay unknown... and I can understand their reasons for that.
Poppy glances over to the Freljordians waiting before turning back to Nellie, talking in a voice that even yordles could barely hear.
Have the guards ready, just in case. I have a feeling they can be somewhat unpredictable if the Mayor doesn't give an answer they like. Do not worry too much for the Mayor... I'm more likely their target if that happens.
Then, before there could be an answer from Nellie, she continues in a more audible voice.
Could you inform the Mayor, and see if he will let us in?

Nellie nods once in understanding, lowering her voice as well so that the Freljordians have no chance of hearing the conversation. "Understandable, ambassador. We've beefed up security in the building plenty since you were last here, seeing as there have been a few 'incidents' while you were away. Better safe than sorry. I assure you that the mayor will be safe in his chair. There will be a guard posted in his office, as well as two others outside his door. Let's hope for your friends' sake that they do not do anything rash."
She clears her throat for a second, straightening the papers in front of her and adjusting her glasses. "You and your friends may see him now, ambassador."
