Name: Summoner L.B. (Larimer Byron) Briskes
Alias: The Sententious Scribe
Class: Summoner
Race: Human
Age: 31
Occupation: Journalist
Residence: The Institute of War
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral: A chaotic neutral character follows his whims. He is an individualist first and last. He values his own liberty but doesn't strive to protect others' freedom. He avoids authority, resents restrictions, and challenges traditions.
(I feel as though the character follows the Ten Commandments for Chaotic Neutral as defined here )
Abilities: Appropriately loquacious or concise reproof of world events, coupled with a propensity for identifying the bitter truth from the boldfaced euphemisms of "modern" journalistic standards.
Equipment: Pen, paper, and various disguises for palliative libations.
Relationships: None worth reminiscing for personal diversion from the equally dismal present, and none worth recounting at the risk that said persons wish to rekindle our fleeting acquaintance with mistaken fondness.
Description: The sanest, freest, lance of naked truth-weilding journalist this side of the conquerors sea.
Biography:
Larimer Byron Briskes was born to Mr Gregory and Mrs Felicia Briskes, in Piltover, June 24th, 10 BLE. They proceeded from birth to instill in him the noble qualities of skepticism, uncompromising taste, and intransigent self-worth, qualities for which they prided themselves. From there he deigned to attend the highest institutions of learning, where his genius was under appreciated. It was there he first discovered with undeniable certainty, the heretofore speculated disparities between his teachers rose-colored view of the the literary and corporeal worlds, and the distressingly mottled-grey condition of reality. The next stage of his life was devoted to parting the threadbare veil of "enlightened thought" for whatever like-minded souls could be found with eyes to see behind it. This was gradually and determinately followed by the realization that such a search was an exercise in futility. By then, his skill had surpassed all known peers in the field of journalism, and so he continues to this very day his storied works both from force of habit, and the understanding that none can carry such a torch of written excellence in his absence.
Self-Apparent Information:
Recently, his employment with the Institute of War based publication, The Journal of Justice, was discontinued when the papers Senior Editor was implicated in a plot to instigate war between Noxus and Demacia. The subsequent death of the paper left L.B. to seek new employment along with the rest of the rest of the staff. Needless to say, this revelation was no surprise to the discerning Mr. Briskes who had suspected the Senior Editor of treachery in some shape or form indistinct. The truth shall set you free, and as they say L.B. Briskes found the end of the Journal a liberating calamity.
Subsiding off of his accumulated savings, L.B. took this opportunity to drink his way across the continent, vacation in Ionia, and briefly visit Bildgewater. Finding the climate there unrefined to say the least, and the beverages somewhat barbaric, the now world-wise L.B. made his way back to the institute to re-establish his Journalism career and replenish his dwindling coffers. Rumor has it that the highly anticipated launch of a news publication, The Deep Ward Weekly, is a project of L.B. Briskes himself. Perhaps the long missed musings of the public's favorite correspondent will return soon.
//OOC
The character concept is taken directly from the now defunct Journal of Justice. I have taken many liberties with the character in order to flesh out his role, and his behaviors. His style of writing is an exaggerated portrayal of his views, though he is honestly a self-centered, pessimistic person at heart. He does have an extensive background in Journalism, including schooling and several small jobs in the columns of small publications, and nothing in his profile thus far is entirely untrue.
GOALS: A journalist, L.B. has been travelling purposeless because he honestly enjoys equally his writing, and his freedom. His perspective is one part "News is important for uncovering and showcasing the worlds dangers as a public service" and one part "People are mostly too stupid to understand what is happening right under their noses." He's concerned with his own well being, because he can't really control or influence what others do. Both truthful and humorous, sarcastic and earnest, his interest in writing stems from the former part, his writing a method to challenge the intelligence and understanding of his readers, while entertaining and drawing readers to his work through humor. In this way, he is able to both captivate a larger audience, vent his personal frustration with the ineptitude of others, and call attention to problems that need to be fixed. This is the half of his motivation. The other is an entirely selfish one, centered around his own greed, pleasure seeking, and wanton rejection of outside views. This part of him writes to fill his pockets, and his glass, the public be damned.
The paper that will be the main product of this character, which I have currently dubbed The Deep Ward Weekly, could begin with more current events, or perhaps in the past. I have not decided whether I am willing to write that far back, but I would also be happy to include the writing of other "correspondents" if there is interest enough. This could turn into a history resource for the forum, but I think some support would be needed to make that happen, as more writers would be desirable. If not, it will just be a weekly article from L.B. lamenting whatever bothered him that week.
CHARACTER: As an egotistical, authority despising person, L.B. falls into the category of Chaotic Neutral quite nicely. He is a summoner, has no bias toward a city state in particular, and equal parts love and hate for "order" His actions are centered around himself, personal liberty, and while he has the potential to become both a Chaotic Good or Chaotic Evil, he is currently sitting between.
