Lux finally reached a reprieve in the many conversations. The mage breathed a soft sigh of relief as the last noble stepped away to pay niceties elsewhere. At last she could finally look around the room properly. Her gaze fluttered over to the conversation that was beginning between the Solari and Jarvan, though she didn't intrude, giving them the respect of privacy. No doubt they were merely exchanging polite conversation anyway. Perhaps she'd get to talk to both Leona and Jarvan later.
Her gaze paused on Fiora and she dropped the duelist the curtsy that equated to a greeting for the Head of her House. Judging from the look on her face, Fiora was not at all pleased to be here - though, considering her predilection for dueling with swords over words, that may not be all too surprising. Nearby was Shyvana, and Lux felt a genuine smile cross her face as she acknowledged the Half-Dragon's presence. She hadn't spoken to Shyvana in a while, simply because there had been too much to do - she'd been quite occupied as of late.
She supposed that it was time for the banquet to start. Lux wasn't exactly sure as to the plans of tonight's event, so she made her way over to her spot at a table and sat neatly. Almost instantly whichever noble was nearby engaged the mage in conversation and the girl sighed inwardly. Letting none of her exasperation show on her face, Lux returned the greeting with polite neutrality, calmly negotiating her way through the chatter and gossip that was so common among nobles.

A banquet. Nobles, council members, politicians. As if Poppy didn't deal with enough of it with her regular duties. However, this was a meeting that could not be avoided. The call of the king of Demacia could not be shrugged off, even if she was not a Demacian, and the presence of the Solari made it important for Bandle City as well. An alliance with Demacia, was an alliance with the yordles.
No doubt everyone would be wearing some sort of formal dress or outfit. The type that Poppy would not wear at any cost. She was a smith at heart, belonging in the grime and dust of the forge, not in some fancy clothing at a noble's table. She sighs as she heads through the palace's courtyard. While not in full armor, she still wore her green scalemail shirt beneath the seemingly plain outfit she was wearing. Whomper hung from her back, never leaving the Ambassador's sight.
Poppy somewhat ignored the courtesies of the servants and guards as she headed through the palace's halls, knowing fairly well where to head on her own by now. Errant words reached her ears as some of the servants seemed rather surprised and worried about how her attire was not fit for a banquet, especially with the king present. Her gaze steeled and her expression as serious as ever, she merely heads past them, and into the hall.
She knew she was late, but that wasn't important now, as it seemed the main event hadn't begun yet. She merely looks over the hall, both checking for an empty seat as well as gauging the reactions of the nobles and council members. The king's reaction wasn't on her mind, as she was certain Jarvan knew that there was no chance that Poppy would wear something that would "fit" the event. She then silently walks to the seat left, and sits down, silently watching those present for now with her ever-serious gaze.

Fiora growled as another guest initiated a conversation with her. Enough was enough. She turned away, scanning the room for familiar faces. As Lux dropped a polite curtsy her way, Fiora nodded in acknowledgement, wincing as she stood up. The Laurents never interacted much with the Crownguards, but Luxanna was a champion. Quietly, the Laurent made her way to Lux; although she hid it well, Fiora could see the exasperation concealed behind her clear eyes. The young lady hated these events as much as she.
"Evening," she murmured as she joined the girl in the conversation. Over the girl's shoulder, she noticed Poppy ease herself silently into the room. She raised an eyebrow at the yordle's choice of wear before returning her attention to the small group in front of her. The noble speaking with Lux shriveled under the Grand Duelist's piercing gaze and muttered something about spilling champagne before he squirreled out of his chair. Fiora took the seat instantly, sighing with relief.
"Horrid, are zey not?" she asked Lux, a knowing smile gracing her features. "I never enjoyed zese sorts of events. Zey attract far too many groveling dignitaries."

The gentlemen who accompanied the King said nothing, preferring to simply listen. They wore blank expressions, as if waiting patiently for something. Jarvan IV continued as if they weren't there.
"There will be quite a feast, though I understand concept of hospitality might seem extravagant to you." Their disinterest with the food that had been given to them earlier had been noted and reported. "I hope that you can understand why we are so different. The land is rich here. Food is plentiful. What seems wasteful to you is a show of respect, a gift to those present. To do any less, to show less effort than this, would be seen as insulting. Some would see it as weakness." He gestured tot he long banquet tables laden with all manner of covered dishes. "A meal like this is nothing difficult for us to obtain."
Things could either go very well or very poorly for their relations with the Solari, and this evening was the time Jarvan IV held the most worries over. The council of nobles needed to be shown that Leona and her escort could be dealt with civilly. Too many held on to past grudges and memories of the Rakkor war machine's brutal efficiency. Herein an opportunity to quell concerns and foster amity presented itself.
Unless of course the Solari were too different to mix peaceably with his guests, but perhaps that would be the most telling indicator of whether or not he had wasted time by bringing them here. The Kings own retinue kept their silence.

Leona's eyes wandered to the lengthy tables before them as Jarvan spoke, careful not to linger to long as to look disinterested with what he was saying. Of course, things were different here. Leona was reminded of that every minute of her stay. The size of the city, the people of the city, even the most basic of ways of the people here drew a sharp contrast to the mountain in all its brutality. It was a necessary brutality, which made it all the the more depressing. Things were the way they were for a reason, and if they were not, they would have all died off long ago. It was a cruel fate to be condemned to, to purchase even the most basic of necessities with blood. She survived it, barely. Not everyone did, and those many born outside the confines of the mountain hardly knew how lucky they were to avoid it.
Leona put on a faint smile, in a biting contrast to the slew of thoughts that had just lingered in her mind as she addressed Jarvan. "We will gladly partake in what you have offered us." Leona said, the smile still held on her face. It was a short reply, but such was the way of speech she was used to. She waited to see if he would continue.

Her smile dulled the edge of his worry, her words eliciting no response from his pair of countrymen greater than the exchange of blank looks. Guests milled as they had before, but the King was conscious of their masked attention. There were very few who remembered Demacia's past conflict with the Rakkor, but all present would feel they held some stake in the Solari presence in their city. Jarvan IV let the matter slip from his hands for the moment. There was only so much he could control.
"Then please enjoy yourselves." A gesture and a modest bow let them know they were free to move as they wished, though he made no effort to move away. Small groups of nobles and guests from unknown origins spoke amongst themselves, throwing the occasional glace toward Leona's group. Turning, he spoke to one of those at his side. "Ask Lady Luxanna to come to me." With a skill that was difficult to perceive, a servant approached with a tray of wine goblets, offering them to each in turn. Jarvan IV was the first to refuse.

The nobleman that was trying to impress the mage with - well, actually, she didn't know what he was trying (maybe his flowery language?) - suddenly withered in his seat before vacating as fast as possible. Puzzled, the girl looked around-
"Lady Laurent - Fiora, should I say, I suppose," she said, smiling at the familiar champion. "I have to agree. While I do understand the need for such events...far too many people here are those that are too high and mighty to walk the talk." And that alone was something that repulsed the mage - after her years in the military followed by those as a champion, Lux favoured action over speech, doing over talking...and certainly she hated the people that saw her as a lady first and a mage second. She was much more than a simpering daughter of House Crownguard!
Her thoughts snapped out, returning to the duelist. "I take it you share my sentiments," she said dryly, "Though I confess I am not all that surprised. Fluffing around and displaying one's place was never something I thought you were interested in," she explained.
"Milady."
The girl paused in her conversation to look over at the approaching servant, her gaze one that welcomed his words. "Yes?"
"His Majesty requests your presence at his side."
A soft sigh left her lips, though her face remained elegant and composed. "I apologise, Lady Fiora," she said, rising. "Duty calls. Perhaps we can continue this conversation later," she added hopefully - surprisingly enough, while Lux wasn't sure of the duelist's views of herself, the mage did prefer the honest company over the twittering of the brightly bedecked guests. Without further ado she accompanied the servant towards the king, aware of the many gazes locked on her and his position - and that of his companions.
The man finished his task with a bow to those there, and stepped back, leaving the light mage in the new company.
"Your Majesty, Leona of the Solari," she said, dipping a curtsey to both of them. "I understand that my company was requested?"
Oh, but did she hate this sort of noble speak. Give her a day when she could speak plainly to old friends - or fellow Champions - without the need for bowing and scraping by those who took their hard-fought-for safety for granted.

Leona and her companions politely and wordlessly rejected the offer of wine. It was something that Rakkor very rarely partook in, if at all, and only on a select few occasions. Its interference with thinking was unwelcome, and inappropriate for a visit of the type she was on. It was undoubtedly different in Demacian culture, as with a single glance around the room one could witness the many nobles and other assorted guests merrily drinking to their own pleasure. Leona did not mind, for the negotiations would only begin the following day, and she doubted that any volume of alcohol could make them cause trouble for her, considering how they reacted to her and her guards until that point.
Leona and the two Solari moved little after Jarvan had finished talking to them. They were free to wander and mingle as they pleased, but who were they to mingle with? They were not ones for small talk, and there were very few that might speak with them. It appeared as if they would not stand idle for long, for Jarvan called for Lux to come to them. Although she did not show it, Leona was glad, for she may have the opportunity to converse, and she had been hoping for such. "Greetings." she said in reply to her, giving a nod of the head. Her companions remained largely still.

Shyvana glanced around the room, looking at the various nobles around the room, seeing that Poppy had joined them as well. She raised a brow and looked at the hammer still sitting on the little ones back. She understood that the little one didn't want to leave her hammer or dress up too fancily, just as Shyvana herself.
The Half-Dragon looked over at Luxanna again as she walked up to the king and the Solari, Shyvana looked at the trio for a moment before leaning back against her chair and sighed before looking around the room once more.

The Councilman was quick to oblige him, and Luxanna presented herself more quickly than Jarvan IV expected. He was ever conscious of their group dynamic as Shyvana joined them as well. He had expected her, but not so soon. Her spar with Leona left him mildly irritated, though it came to no consequence, and her plainly visible boredom only peaked his aggravation.
"Thank you Lady Crownguard. Shyvana." He gave Luxanna his full attention, content not to pull Shyvana into the conversation just yet. "I was hoping you would speak with me later. I have some questions for you, but for now don't let me hold you here if you are hungry or see someone you wish to speak with. You may return to me later, or greet our guest."
He turned his gaze to Shyvana, eye's searching for any reaction from Leona at either of their entrances.
"Of course, you have already met Shyvana." Jarvan IV called her forward with a gentle gesture, giving a smile for the gathered company. "I understand you had some time to train with one another. What do you think of her fighting style Leona?"

Leona's eyes briefly rested on Shyvana as she approached, but then returned to the ones standing before her. Her face revealed no change in mood with her approach, for indeed, there was none. Leona took a brief glance toward the table, scouting for a drink of water or something of the sort. She had not had much to drink since sparring that day, and so something which might quench her thirst later would be of use.
Jarvan then called Shyvana to them, seeming to look to start a conversation. The question he posed to her put her in a rather precarious position, but Leona took to answering it anyway. "I am curious as to why she chooses to use her fists, augmented or not, when almost any other weapon offers greater reach, but otherwise, I have not yet fought or observed her enough to make fair judgement on her style."

Lux paid attention to Jarvan without a flicker of expression crossing her face. When he'd finished, she dipped her head in understanding. "As you wish, Your Majesty," she replied politely. That done, she turned to greet Leona properly. "It has been a while since we've crossed paths outside the Institute," she said to the Solari warrior. "I hope you and your companions have fared well since I last saw you." Her words, while largely formal and polite, were in fact truly sincere - Lux found that there was a great deal to feel safe about in the Champion's presence on the Rift, and it was something that she'd missed. While they weren't currently in battle, Leona and her companions still did exude that same outward strength and confidence.
Lux had in fact not heard of the Solari's and the Half-Dragon's sparring session - her ears pricked with intrigue. She turned to watched Shyvana approach with interest, listening intently out of curiousity as Leona spoke. A manservant walked by bearing a tray of what looked like wines. Lux shook her head politely when offered - she rarely drank as alcohol could do interesting things to one's magic.

Shyvana looked quietly at the trio when she heard her name, seeing that Jarvan might call for her she stood up and stretched her outfit again before walking over to them when called. Smiling warmly at Luxanna, as she had done to her when they saw each other a few minutes earlier. The Half-Dragon looked at Leona and Jarvan when she walked up to them, bowing to Jarvan. "My king." She said simply and looked at Leona as she questioned why she used her Gauntlets instead of a Sword, Hammer or even a mace.
"It's a matter of preference, Defender. I find that there is nothing as satisfying as ripping appart someone in combat, and my gauntlets allow that. They are also enchanted in a way so they transform with me when I unleash my true form. Whilst a Hammer, Sword or even mace would just be in the way for me." She explained briefly, looking at the Defender then the manservant offering whines she decided to take a glass.
Shyvana knew well not to drink too much, should someone aggravate her and make her lose control she'd have to take full responsibility for what she might cause. So, she kept her drinking to a limit, at least when around people like this and not the soldiers or other champions she used to drink with.
"Is that answer satisfying enough for you?" she asked, smiling and then sipping the red whine.

"We have fared well, thank you. I hope that you have fared well, the same." Leona said, in reply to Lux, briefly disengaging from her current conversation.
Judging by Shyvana's reply, Leona assumed that she was not trained to be a formation fighter, and indeed, when she could turn into a dragon, there was not a very pressing need to. A dragon's claws were like points of a warhammer, its tail like a giant mace, and its teeth like dozens of swords that could gnash together with such a powerful force that it could crush even the toughest of armors. Her draconic nature also showed through, although choosing a weapon out of the satisfaction it brought was in no way practical.

"Yes, preference." The King regarded the half-dragon with a look of indifference. Leona's reaction left gave little indication of her feelings. It seemed that most of the communication coming from the Solari was sparse. They said little, asked less, and showed few emotions. He had grasped quickly that understanding the Solari and their ways would require more effort on his part than most.
"I understand that combat training is a integral part of your culture. Tell me, when did you and your friends begin learning to fight? At what age?"
