The fact that Jarvan had bothered to research as much as he could on the Rakkor before embarking upon negotiations showed that he took steps to be prepared. Leona was impressed, somewhat, by his foresight in preparation. It was an admirable trait to have, foresight, and something which was valued among all Rakkor. "I have a few." she replied, the notoriously short spoken nature of the Rakkor shining through in her words. Many of her greatest curiosities were actually what others thought of her, her people, her friends, even the small details of all that she was raised around and familiar with. She awaited further questions, her curiosity making her eager to hear them.

Shyvana listened to Jarvan and Leona converse once more, she seemed to hide things about the Solari and the Rakkor, perhaps she did it out of safety measures or she was forced to do so because of the rules. The Half-Dragon tilted her head and sipped her wine glass before looking around the room once more, the Duelist was speaking to the Ambassador for the small people and the other guests where either conversing with each other or they were looking at the Rakkorian guards.
The Half-Dragon sipped her wine once more and looked over at Luxanna, moving around slightly she stood besides her and smiled at her. "Ms. Crownguard." The Half-Dragon said with a smile and sipped her wine glass once more, emptying it of it's content.

At the very least, the conversation wasn't boring. In fact, Lux, as a scholar, was interested to learn more about the Solari. Since Leona's society was rather secretive and private about their ways, Lux jumped at the chance to learn more on a reclusive topic. Her eyes, fixed on Leona's face as she listened, conveyed her curiousity, and her attention was very obviously riveted on learning about Leona's people.
A soft phrase made Lux look over, her eyes lighting in recognition upon seeing Shyvana. "Hello Shyvana," she greeted the other, a smile crossing her face. "I hope you've been well."
Over to the side she could see that Poppy and Fiora had entered into a conversation, while others were similarly engaged or sneaking glances at the King and his company. Lux guessed that it was Leona's companions that drew such glances - the stoic pair weren't exactly forthcoming in nature, and it was only expected that this resulted in an air of mystery.

Jarvan IV motioned to an attendant eyeing their group eagerly, and a whisper sent him off to bring the King a glass of water. Whatever the depth of their discourse tonight, the King was concerned with making the Solari feel as close to comfortable as could be achieved. He had hoped that the would take more readily to the more relaxed social climate, that opening up to them would incite reciprocation, but it felt as if the opposite was true. That, or Leona felt that their secrets were better off kept. There simply wasn't enough know about their culture, and not enough shown by their expressions, to know whether they were pleased or displeased. He decided to err on the side of boldness instead of caution.

Leona watched curiously as Jarvan gestured for an attendant, who was as quick to leave as he was summoned. Her eyes drifted further, as Jarvan did not speak for a few moments, registering what seemed to be two conversations on the side, one between Lux and Shyvana, and one between Fiora and Poppy. She imagined she had a general idea of what they might be speaking of, but she paid it little mind. She had no business meddling in the conversations of others. Then, the next question came, this one, regarding the Rakkor instead of the Solari. It was obvious that the man was interested in learning more of her people, only she wondered how far the curiosity extended, and if it was for a purpose other than simply wanting to know. "A practical mindset, wit, fighting ability, tactical knowledge, intellect, loyalty, and honesty, to name a few traits." He might have been seeking more than just those traits, but Leona saw no point in rambling on and wasting breath if a long list was not wanted. She would elaborate or continue if he felt his question was unanswered.

Fiora made a small 'hmph' as Poppy gave her response. Half of her expected for her to be there instead of Shyvana. Surely her prowess as a duelist will outshine and be respected far more by the Solari than the half-dragon's blunt firepower.
She waited for Poppy to continue if she wished, but she did not. The yordle was one of little words, so unlike the rest of her species. With a small sigh, she continued to sip from her goblet, eyes wandering. Her eyes made contact briefly with Leona and she raised an eyebrow elegantly--from the expressions on Jarvan's face, the conversation was indeed serious.
Crossing her arms, she returned her attention to the Iron Ambassador. "And what do you know about zee Solari?" she inquired, curious to see what knowledge the yordle held that Demacia's military did not know.

Only what I've observed of Leona on the Fields of Justice. Strong and brave, yet caring and protective. Quite different from the Rakkor representative, Pantheon, personality wise.
Poppy keeps her gaze towards the Solari, her expression serious as always. Very little seemed to get a visual response from the yordle Ambassador anymore. She had learned to keep emotion out of these situations, through both grief and experience.
How about yourself, Miss Laurent? What do you know of the Solari, and their ways?

"But how do the Solari differ? What does the sun ask of you that the Rakkor do not?" There were so many questions he could ask, but this one was ate the forefront of his mind. What did they Solari mean? What was their faith? Their purpose? Even a glimpse of that difference would be like a candle casting shadows over a dark room. It would be enough. Enough to glean the shapes of obstacles on his course to mutual trust. Enough to chart a clearer path to common ground. They were warriors yes, isolationists for perhaps a thousand years, but few nations rose and flourished with little more purpose than to exist. As he watched her casually, taking the glass of water he'd requested from the hands of a waiter, he ran that question through his mind for any unrealized hints.

Jarvan's curiosity might never be truly sated, for the reasons of how far reaching it was and what Leona was permitted to say. She had been, however, less than forthcoming with information up until now, and perhaps it was time to bestow him with more than precisely what he had asked for, even though it might only heighten his curiosity. "What separates a Rakkor from one of the Solari is what one is sworn to do. We both protect one another, for the war of one is the war of the other, and are often of the same flesh and blood, but our oaths lie in different places. The Solari are sworn to protect the sun and ensure that it rises each day. Rakkor who are not of our ranks have no such obligation." It would no doubt seem silly, she thought, to Jarvan, to listeners, to the whole city of Demacia, perhaps even every place that was not Mount Targon that the sun had its own cohort of protectors, or would even need such a force, for how could such an essential element of life ever be taken away?

Fiora crossed her arms and considered her next words. The nobles actually did not know too much of the Solari. Most barely even bothered to learn about anything outside the admittedly limited reach of Demacia's borders. But being a champion of Demacia did have certain perks, and Fiora was able to glean some information from studying the backgrounds of Leona, something she did with all her opponents before she sparred with them, regardless if it be on the Fields of Justice or in her own dueling hall.
There wasn't much, truth be told. She knew of their culture and their loyalty to the sun and their comradeship with the Rakkor. But that was it. The source of their belief was obscure, and Fiora didn't have much patience for worming out such seemingly meaningless details.
She let out a small exhale before answering Poppy.
"All I know is zat zey believe the sun to be an entity worth protecting. Besides zat,I know a little of zeir morals. But overall, what you know is what I know, unfortunately." she hedged, concealing the extent of her knowledge from Poppy. The Iron Ambassador may have been trusted by Demacia, but Fiora was unwilling to let slip how little Demacia, the greatest city-state in all of Runeterra, was able to gather about the Solari.

Shyvana smiled back at Luxanna as she turned and greeted her, Luxanna was someone Shyvana considered a friend after she had helped her and been there for her a few years ago. Shyvana would often if given a chance exchange a few words with Lux just to stay in touch.
"I have been, and you?" She asked and rolled the empty wine glass between her fingertips slowly as she glanced over towards Poppy and Fiora. It surprised Shyvana that Poppy didn't seem to find Fiora as annoying and aggravating as Shyvana herself did, perhaps she was alone with feeling like that, but then again, it happened often that Shyvana found herself disagreeing with those around her. "I'm guessing I'm not alone thinking that this entire..." Shyvana makes a circular motion with her glass to show what she's talking about. "... event, seems a bit... unnecessary." The Half-dragon asked and looked back at Luxanna.

Lux found her smile growing as she exchanged conversation with the Half-Dragon. While some might find the woman...well, to savage for their tastes, after the mage's years in the military, Shyvana's manner and behaviour suited the Lux just fine. In fact, she found the simple way of speaking almost refreshing for her.
With an elegant motion Lux lifted her glass to her mouth, savouring the juice as it traced a gentle path down her throat. When she'd swallowed, she turned her attention back to Shyvana. "What can I say? I supposed I am used to the ceremonies and such. It's the way many at court keep in touch." She shrugged gently as she spoke, her mind searching for words. "Some do not address matters the way that a soldier like you or I would."
After all, her days as a soldier were long past - except for her duties to the Institute of course.

The King had ears for every conversation going on between his champions. It almost felt strange to think of them that way. My champions. If they belonged to him, he did to them as much or moreso. The Exemplar of Demacia had been a voice of Demacia for as long as he could remember. Without his father's presence the weight of his words felt heavier while the world felt emptier, all at the same time. He kept that feeling subconscious with a pointed effort, concentrating on the people around him.
Leona's answer lit more than a spark in the darkness of Solari culture. It was less the words she spoke than the conviction and the plainness of her speech, the absence of doubt in her words. Jarvan was sure, however true it might be, that Leona believed the sun needed her protection. What an unacceptable irony. She was chosen of the sun, protected and empowered by it. Her duty was to protect it? From what? Was this a superstition of faith? What could possibly threaten the sun?
He kept his questions beneath the surface, an attendant notifying him discreetly that the staff were ready to start the meal in earnest. Questioning would have to wait. "You've given me much to think about. We may speak again before dawn, but for now leave you to enjoy the feast."
Jarvan stepped back and for a moment reviewed a note from out of his breast pocket before tucking it away. He thanked the messenger, touching a ring on his right hand in a peculiar way before he spoke with a voice that filled the room evenly, without reverberation of the high stone walls. It was an amplification of magic, and he addressed all present.
"Good evening, Guests and Fellow Demacians." A momentary pause and the gathered crowd grew silent. "Thank you for coming. Now the time of the evening has come for us to enjoy the wonderful food and drink that is prepared for us, so I ask that you all find your seats, at your leisure."
He watched as the people began to move and settle.

What Leona had said had not ended up being washed away in the ever changing tides of casual conversation, it had taken hold in the mind of one person, at least, which was as she expected it to be. Surely, if all had heard what she said, they would think her mad. The Sun required protectors? Then again, what had they expected the purpose of the Sun's Avatar to be? Ceremony? It was not an empty position for the sake of having one, for that would be an inexcusable waste of the immense power placed at his or her fingertips, no, the Sun's Avatars were burdened with a purpose. Leona's predecessor had discovered his. Leona's was surely similar, only she lacked the exact details.
It was fortunate that Jarvan had not continued with his questioning, for there were paths which the conversation could easily take from there which would have her appear as wholly mad. She would not blame listeners for thinking so. Many would start to back away from a woman who claimed to have experienced memories of a man dead for over a thousand years and to have seen a deity in person.
Jarvan's parting words were no mere formality judging from the weight he placed upon them. Leona had indeed placed several thoughts into his mind, for better or for worse, and she would await his next set of questions patiently, but curiously nonetheless. She nodded politely and waited for Jarvan to turn away before stepping back toward her companions. They had no time to share thoughts before Jarvan's voice filled the hall.
Such evenness and lack of reverberation could be the work of magic alone. It seemed unnecessary, however. Could Jarvan not simply raise his voice, but instead rely on some spell to ensure he would not strain his throat? Leona was slightly amused. Such a thing would not even so much as be thought of back upon the mountain. It was a waste to use magic to accomplish what one could easily do with their body alone.
"Come, let us share thoughts over dinner. Leona said to her companions, the speed at which she spoke her native tongue surely enough to perplex listeners as to if she was even speaking words at all. Conversations between the three were to remain, for the most part, for their ears to comprehend alone. Leona took her seat at the table with Hector and Selen seated on her left, as to place their stoic, silent selves would be akin to placing a meter thick brick wall between herself and any conversation, and she did not wish to appear any more uninviting than her Rakkor countenance presented her to be.

Fiora swiveled towards Jarvan as his voice cut through the din. She gave no indication that she even noticed the obvious magic being utilized by the King; like many nobles, she was simply used to it. As Jarvan concluded his announcement, Fiora turned back to Poppy.
"Finally." she said, eyeing the last of her wine before leaving it on the table for a waiter to take. "Well, I 'ave to say, it was a pleasure speaking wiz you, Ambassador." Fiora confessed, somewhat truthfully. As she looked over Poppy's shoulder casually, her expression tightened. "I'm afraid I will 'ave to take my proper place." she spoke, getting up and nodding to Poppy. "Until next time."
As Fiora made her way towards the front of the room, two pairs of eyes watched her go. One pair of azure eyes, void of any trace of warmth, narrowed jealously as Fiora approached the front of the room, speaking with the Demacian Council members that have already seated themselves. Then, both pairs swiveled away from the Grand Duelist and settled on their respective seats.
"You must be joking." Sebastien Laurent stated almost blandly, the tiniest trace of venom coloring his tone. "We are sitting near zee Solari."
He turned to his brother, lips lifting coldly. "Let us go, Adrien. Before zis evening becomes any more dreary."
His brother nodded silently, content to let his eldest sibling take the lead, snaking between the dispersing crowd towards their seats. Fiora looked over her shoulder as they sat down, and Adrien briefly made eye contact with her. Her glance hovered over him, before settling on Sebastien, who was momentarily distracted with the task of seating his fiance, Isabelle. As her eyes affixed on Sebastien and Isabelle, her expression tightened once more, and she quickly turned away. Adrien kept his expression neutral, aware that many eyes would be on his family, squirming for a glimpse of the power struggle that laid underneath the Laurent facade.
Isabelle looked ridiculous. All three were dressed in the palest of blue, and her dress looked like an explosion of frills. Nestled near her bosom was an enormous necklace, its centerpiece proudly showing off a beautiful sapphire. Eyes vacant, she giggled as Sebastien leaned in and kissed her on the cheek, and thanked him for seating her.
They were so close to the Solari that even Isabelle, for all her airiness, had to notice the foreigners. Her eyes widened as she looked upon their armor and circlets, so absent of the extravagance she lived her whole life in. Sebastien noticed and placed a finger on her lips, smiling with little warmth. His eyes focused on Leona and her companions.
"And 'ow are you enjoying Demacia?" he purred, raising his voice to capture their attention. "I imagine our culture is very...different zan yours. 'opefully our goals are not...what a shame zat would be."
