Well i have to be honest here: letting Diana beat you up because you want to talk doesn't sound very leona-ish to me. I kinda expected you to beat some sense into her and then talk.

Leona is not letting Diana beat her up. She's very much defending herself. She used Eclipse, and pushed Diana away from her, even kicking her in the stomach.
Leona will never be the first one to jump to violence, unless there's no other way. But here, she feels like she can talk to Diana, maybe at least put something of their shattered relationship back together.
Your way of having her come in and be like "Hey, I'm gonna beat the crap out of you and then talk to you" actually sounds un-leona like to me.

That's not exactly what I said you should do, don't twist my words.
Diana warned you that she wouldn't be talking with you, and that if you kept insisting she'd attack you; and all you did was beg for her to listen. Then she put her blade to your throat and you kept pleading.
That's what I don't find "Leona-ish". If someone put a blade near Leona's neck, I'd expect Leona to (at the very least) cross swords to get said blade away from her throat.

But it's Diana.
The last thing Leona wants to do is to be the first to attack Diana. The blade may have been raised to her, however Diana made no move to actually do anything with it, this was more of an intimidation tactic by Diana than anything.

How is Diana different than any other person? In fact, I'd expect Leona to be more careful around Diana because, you know, she's sworn to kill every Solari out there.
I understand that Leona wouldn't want hostilities, but really, someone who is hell bent on killing you puts a blade to your neck and you don't respond?

They have history, at least the way I play and Leona and she plays Diana.
Leona see's Diana as somewhat of a tortured soul, that maybe if she can just talk to her she can repair Diana.
Fighting her will solve nothing, but only prove Diana's point. Which is why she avoided it at all costs, until Diana actually struck at her with the blade.

And this is where I think you're wrong - if someone puts a blade to your throat, fighting said someone prevents your throat from being sliced off; and, to reiterate my point, I don't think Leona would let someone that has sworn to kill her put a blade to her throat; does not matter wether said someone is or not a past friend.
Hell, if a friend of mine put a blade to my throat, I would do something, and I'm not a war-forged solari warrior.
