"Because it doesn't fucking matter." She snapped at Zed, her eyes growing fierce, "What the hell do you care? I'm just your fucking pawn anyway!" She would grab the blade, letting it cut against her palm, "If I wasn't of any use to you, you'd have killed me already. And so far, you haven't. Which means you either -really- want me as an apprentice, or you've got plans for me. Either way, you'd be killing me for something stupid. So you decide, Mr. 'Master of Shadows' because I'm -your- hostage and I got -nothing- to lose. But you have plenty."

"You think you have the advantage do you?!" Zed was not the ninja he was when he was with the Kinkou, his emotions had now gone back to normal and his voice seethed with rage, "If it wasn't for me you'd be dead right now, so show a little respect brat! I do not want to kill you but if you so much as threaten the string that holds the Order to Noxus I will personally gut you and feed you to the shadow realm! What is so important to you that you wouldn't share it with your life on the line?! Nothing to lose? I will find everything that you hold dear and destroy it, absolutely everything!" Zed's voice echoed through the temple grounds, several students stopped to watch.
Zed noticed this and look around at the crowd a sinister grin came from under his mask. "Bring me a table." He demanded, and soon a student returned with a table. Zed held the blade with Mei's blood in front of him, unsheathed. "Place your pinky finger on the table Mei, or answer the question."

Mei scowled at him when he'd threaten her further. Her gaze burning with murderous intent as it set upon Zed. When the students would come near, she'd sneer towards them trying to look intimidating. The beast within her would rear its ugly head within her gaze, making her far more primal when she'd look at the students - like a predator ready to ravage anyone who might misstep. It was perhaps a similarity to the beasts in the shadow realm, and why she didn't fear them like she did others.
She'd reluctantly look at the table when he told her to put her pinky atop it, "FINE!" She barked back, "I was trying to learn what Swain had planned. Information is valuable." Her brow flattened as she'd take a step back, "I got caught before I learned anything useful."

Zed continued to glare at Kuromei with his blood red eyes, boring into her. He sheathed his arm blade and swung his arm slowly in a dispersing manner, the students backed off as they saw this. "Why was it so important that you hide such simple information from me?"
Zed was not at all pleased, he was quiet angered with Kuromei at the moment, she was proving to be quite irritating. "Don't withhold information from me again."

Mei narrowed her eyes slightly and shrugged a little. More or less, she agreed not to. But she didn't like it either way.
She'd keep her eyes mostly on Zed, folding her arms again with that bored look returning. She had nothing to say, and nothing to do at the moment but wait for his instruction.

Zed pretended not to notice the look of boredom on Kuromei, although it bothered him. Most people would be thrilled to learn his arts, but no, the one with potential is bored with it. These thoughts rushed through his head, only making him angrier at his new pupil.
Zed would train her in the ways of the shadow, but first she needed to make the journey. This journey was a requirement for all students after they reached a certain level. After their fear of the shadows was utterly removed, they would be thrust into the realm of shadows. There they would find a living shadow, small fragile humanoids with minds of their own, however, they could be controlled and brought into the human world by a master. These creatures would then serve their master to the end, as loyal as a dog. The more powerful the master, the more shadows they could control at once.
A few days would pass before it was time for Kuromei to make her journey, Zed stood in a chamber deep within the Kinkou temple. This chamber was home to the box from which Zed's powers originated from. He stared into one of the many black portal's he could create, a long sigh escaped him, it wasn't uncommon for pupils to not make it back from their first journey, but Kuro had experience in the matter and he hoped it was enough.

Days would be spent under the scrutiny of her teacher as she was forced to adapt and endure the hardships of becoming a member of the Shadow Sect. It didn't appeal to her outwardly, though all the mischief she could get into knowing these little tricks just fueled the inner pirate in her. Outwardly, she seemed disinterested. Though her training would be vigorous and without much of a break no doubt.
As they stood there, Mei's gaze settled on the portals with the origami all folded and readily accessible just inside the fold of her long coat. She didn't like this in the slightest bit. None of it made her in the least bit comfortable, knowing she may not make it out alive. She wished someone else had found her in Swain's manor.. Or perhaps.. just not have gone in to begin with. A frown set across her lips, thinking back to the lessons she learned from her former teacher. It filled her with sadness knowing he'd essentially abandoned her. She knew he could have found her if he wanted to - but he didn't.
Skylark was gone. The songbird had sung its final song. In its place, stood Kuromei. She'd push back her feelings, knowing that if she let herself feel anything while in the shadow realm, it could potentially kill her. A deep breath was drawn in, and slowly exhaled as she stared forward.
"...I hate you." She finally said, crisp and ice cold as it hit the air.

A frown spread across Zed's face under his mask as Kuromei spoke, he thought as much. The room was dark and only Zed and Kuro stood in it, the portal swirling in front of them. He turned away from Kuro and a slight clicking could be heard as he removed his mask, he ran a hand down his face and replaced it. He faced Kuro, gazing down at her, his normally blood red eyes flickered slightly. "Hate is powerful Kage no Arashi, use it to your advantage, but remember me when you travel with such power that men tremble in fear of you. Remember what I gave to you, remember what I took from you, and use it to drive you on." Zed's voice was sincere, no matter how rigid and tough he had been on Kuro, he did wish for her to succeed and become as strong as she could be. This wish was the same for the rest of his students, he only wanted the best for them and some in his mind were kin, his only family he had.
"I wish you luck Kuro." Zed spoke his potentially final words to her, "May the shadows protect you." with that he stepped back and waved his arm forward, gesturing for her to enter the gloom.

Mei didn't bother looking at him. She knew she had no choice regardless of how she felt. The urge to speak out against him was suppressed beneath her icy visage. She wanted to tell him how her hate would be the only thing he'd ever receive from her, and that her only reason for continuing this was that she was sure someday she would have the chance to turn it against him and take back what she yearned for - freedom.
She wondered if Varus remembered her request. Things had changed.. She was no longer in Noxus, and no longer working under her former mentor. A hint of sadness touched her features before she'd push it away and stepped wordlessly through the portal and into the realm of shadows.

Zed's voice rang out one final time as she stepped into the portal, "Think of the power you will obtain." With that Kuromei would enter the realm if shadows. This would be unlike the portal which they had used to exit Swain Manor, instead of multiple pathways with points where someone could fall there was a large plane with a few hill like structures, empty and devoid of life it would seem at first glance. This realm was not completely unlike Runeterra, there were separate ecosystems and creatures differentiated from place to place.
Sounds came from over a hill to Kuro's right, strange grunts and groans being passed between two creatures, it sounded as if the two were having a conversation. The world still seemed almsot completely black, but here there was a slight shine from an undetectable light source, outlines could be made out is someone looked hard enough. Kuro's training would allow her to navigate without too much trouble, by now her eyes would have grown accustomed to darkness.
As she entered into the shadowy place, she would wait a moment for her eyes to fully focus with what little light was available. The outlines were all she needed to navigate for the moment. The grunts of communication would be the first thing to draw her attention after she would take in the scenery, beginning her walk towards the sounds. She made a point to be discreet as she had no idea what may lay just over the top of the various small hills.

Two humanoid creatures stood at the base of the hill, they had huge white eyes but other than that seemed almost pitch black. They were sleek with no visual hair of nay sort on them, their skin seemed to ripple like water. They continued their conversation, using many hand gestures along with the grunts and strange noises. One of them suddenly stopped, seeming to look up the hill to Mei's position, a questioning look in it's eyes, the two slowly began treading up the hill.
The grunts would get louder and louder as they came nearer, although they did not seem worried they were ready for anything. In fact, the creatures didn't even seem hostile, more curious than anything.

She would stand her ground as she reached the top of the hill, and observed the two walking closer. Cautiously pinching onto one of the origami she had stashed away into her coat. She'd watch them carefully, not speaking just yet. Clearly they already had noticed her, so trying to be sneaky would do her no good at this point.

As the creatures gained view of her they stopped, their eyes almost squinting at her. One of the two held his arm out to the side, it became longer and pointed and was now serrated along the inner edge. The other one however, slowly began morphing, it never took it's eyes off of Mei. After a short time it mimicked her, although it was still jet black, it waved it's hand slowly back and forth in a greeting, the other stood poised to attack if need be.

An eyebrow shifted up a bit as she watched one seem to become threatening, while the other -- looked like her? She'd tilt her head a bit to gaze upon the shadow that seemed identical to her, waving a little back in response. The hostility of the other however, was taken note of. Though she wondered if it was simply being protective or not. She'd tuck an origami into her sleeve unseen, and pulled her hand away from her coat to show she didn't have any weapons in her hands. Sky was trying to decide what the hostile shadow's purpose was. Was it a protector? Or was it simply hostile? Or.. something else?
