((Anyone likely to be near the outskirts of Zaun can join this, it probably won't be very long at all.))
TNS-4 stirred, he was lying on his back, though he felt himself moving. He opened his eyes to see the ceiling above him moving, along with the face of a man above him, pushing the gurney he was on. The man looked down and stopped. He drew a syringe and needle and prepared to inject TNS-4 with something. All of his instincts screamed for him to not let that needle pierce his skin. TNS-4 panicked and jumped from the gurney. The man tried to run, but TNS-4 tackled him to the ground. His hands moved to the man’s head, and with one quick twist, he broke the man’s neck. The man’s eyes continued to look around in horror as he was paralyzed, unable to move, unable to breathe.
TNS-4 stood and ran down the hallway and opened the door. Immediately, two guards armed with guns on either side of the door took aim. He ducked and blades extended from his wrist, he thrust them against the guards’ chests, one shouted as he died. “TNS-4 has escaped!” Several men in lab-coats turned and looked in horror, they each drew guns and began to fire. TNS-4 was struck three times, once in the leg, stomach, and shoulder. Then it happened, something, some sort of cloud came out of him and flew towards the men, they began screaming and clawing at their flesh. Eventually dropping to the ground. The clouds began returning to him, he panicked and tried to run, but they reached him anyway, he expected to die there, but instead of pain, he felt The pain of his wounds lessen. His own bleeding quickly began to stop, but the wounds did not yet heal. He looked at the carnage around him, the men in labcoats were bleeding profusely as their skin seemed to have dissolved, blood flowed from their noses, mouths, and around their eyes. The guards bled from the stab wounds from their chests. TNS-4 searched for an exit, he found one and ran from whatever underground structure he was in, he stepped out into a world he had never seen, yet somehow he vaguely knew.
TNS-4 had escaped from some unknown laboratory in the outskirts of Zaun. He stepped out into the cold and polluted air, wearing only what would appear to be medical scrubs. He was covered in blood, though most of it belonged to someone else. His bullet wounds stung, but the pain had been numbed considerably by whatever that... thing was that came out of him. Even now he could tell it was there. As he examined the wound on his shoulder, he saw the black substance covering the it.
He shook his head and took a step forward. Yes, that was what he had to do, walk, or run. It didn't matter where, as long as it was away from here. He started to walk. Hoping that none of them were outside.
The order was given from nearly halfway across Zaun, but the Iron Wolves heard it clearly. They slowly began to follows TNS-4 from a distance, the target always within one of their three lines of sight at all times. There would be no escaping.
Angela Phious herself was sitting in her office, her eyes seemingly hazed over. She was viewing what the wolves did, and what she saw proved interesting. While she cared less about the boy, the black substance that seemed to follow him had her attention. And in order to examine it, she would need TNS-4 as well.
TNS-4 continued walking, forward, not really knowing where exactly he was going. The city was drawing closer though, he didn't know why he was going there, perhaps something in him knew that he would be harder for them to find there. Something was... off though. He felt he was being watched, hunted. It might just be the fact that he had just escaped... He couldn't resist the urge to stop and look around. As he did so, a shot rang out, he ducked to have the bullet just barely fly over him. He quickly jumped for cover and began searching for the shooter. No doubt one of Them.
The wolves continued following TNS-4, kiting just on the edges of his vision. The two blue-gray wolves made to circle in front of him to cut him off, while the black one stayed behind to completely the circle. Though before they could begin to close in, a bullet shot ran out and caused the boy to take cover.
Not wanting to risk losing the boy, Phi commanded the wolves to search out for the attacker. Whoever they were, they were complicating her plans. Grabbing her lab coat off the back of her chair, she pulled a key out of the left pocket and unlocked a drawer underneath her desk. There lay her laser rifle, fully charged and currently in prime condition. Taking it and sealing the drawer once more, she made her way out of her office building.
TNS-4 continued to hide, several bullets struck the cover near him. There were 5 attackers, all men wearing armored chemical suits with gas masks. They carried rifles which were loaded with specialized bullets, each containing a tiny hex-core, electrifying them so they would deliver a powerful shock to those hit. At their waste, they carried static batons, capable of delivering a deadly electrical shock to a human, as well as overload many electricity based constructs. They circled around TNS-4's position, and had yet to spot the wolves. "This experiment's a failure, our orders are to terminate it. Shoot to kill."
Picking up a rock, TNS-4 made a break for a nearby building. He smashed the window and climbed in as several bullets whizzed past him. He searched frantically for a room that didn't have any direct access to the outside. Once he found one, he grabbed various bits of furniture and stacked it in the doorways to delay anything getting in. He found a spot near the middle of the room, against the wall, where he could watch both doors, each on the opposite side of the room. The blades in his wrists extended and he waited for them to come.
Outside, the men converged on the house and prepared to enter it and search for the experiment.
As the men approached the house, the Iron Wolves would drop on them. Two quickly lunged at the throats of the ones nearest the entrance, while the black wolf walked up from behind, gun bays opened. It began to fire at the men, striking them in the back but not quite yet killing them...
Phi herself was rather quickly walking up to the area, rifle tucked under her arm. Her pace would occasionally slow down as her vision rotated through that of the wolves. "Good, they haven't gotten to him yet." Speeding up again she raised her rifle as she approached the building, loading in a Marking Shot ahead of time.
As the first two men were taken down by the wolves, they drew their batons and attacked the mechanical creatures. Their weapons were specially designed to destroy mechanical and electrical devices, the remaining ones opened fire on the blue wolves. Their bullets would deal heavy damage as the electrical systems of the wolves were overloaded. At the very least, they would be disabled. One of the men that had been pounced threw the disabled blue wolf off of him and used it as cover against the alpha's bullets. He picked up his rifle and returned fire, defending his injured comrades.
TNS-4 heard firing outside of the building, he crouched low, ready to pounce at anything that came through the door. The black cloud began to come out of him, pouring from his mouth and nose, and from around the blades on his wrists. The swarm split into two, each covering an entrance.
The alpha wolf kept firing, ducking behind cover itself occasionally once the men began returning fire. It was following a set pattern: four seconds of firing, four seconds of reloading admidst evasion. It seemed to not care as it's comrades fell, continuing to shoot upon the group in order to keep them distracted...
As Phi snuck into the building. She had discarded her lab coat so her movement wouldn't be restricted, leaving her in light combat armor. Her arms were exposed, save for a decorative band on the right arm. She kept her laser rifle at the ready, though she hoped she wouldn't need it.
The last man quickly realized the pattern the wolf was following. He took a clip of bullets from one of his fallen comrades. He had one trick up his sleeve to kill this thing. He could set the hex cores in the bullets to overload, creating a large electromagnetic pulse, which should disrupt the wolf's systems. Within a few seconds he managed to set them to overload. As the wolf came from behind cover to begin firing, he threw the clip, set to overload in only two seconds, before the wolf was set to start evading. Unfortunately for the soldier, he took three bullets to the chest as he did so, but the makeshift grenade would detonate right beneath the robot's feet.
TNS-4 would hear her coming, the two swarms would combine and gather around whichever door she was going through, the boy hid just to the side, where he wouldn't be seen. He got ready to pounce on whoever was there the second they moved the rubble blocking their path.
The black wolf locked up from the EMP, though it did not fall. It was temporarily stunned, and if the rest of the men didn't do anything soon it would resume it's firing.
Phi stopped on the other side of the rubble, probing at the nanobot swarm with her mind. They were interesting creations, though she assumed trying to catch one wouldn't end well. Dropping her rifle to the ground she raised her hands, speaking softly, though to whether the swarm or to TNS-4 was unclear.
One of the injured men looked at the frozen wolf. He decided to play it safe, he picked up his rifle and fired several rounds into its head, then continued to watch it for any sign of movement.
TNS-4 heard Phi speaking, should he respond? Could he trust her? He decided he could not, at least not without more information. When he spoke, fear was evident in his voice, the sort of desperation of a cornered animal, willing to do anything to survive. "Who are you? Why are you helping me? Where are you from?"
The bullets had little effect on the wolf, merely denting the plating slightly. After a few more seconds it began to move again, although in erratic, jerking movements. It fired off blinds shots towards the ground, sending up small clouds of dirt and dust to provide it some cover.
"My name is Angela Phious. I'm helping you because... you seem like you need help. I'm from a laboratory a bit aways from here." Phi attempted to keep herself and TNS-4 calm as she answered his questions, still examining the workings of the nanobots with her mind. If she couldn't collect one, she could at least try and memorize the inner mechanisms to make a replica...
At the first sign of movement, the last man standing began unloading round after round into the wolf, each one delivering an electric shock like the others. As he did so, he got up and slowly walked toward it. Once next to it, he pulled out the baton, activated it, and shoved it into the wolf's mouth, causing it to deliver a constant, powerful electric shock.
"You're from around here? This place... this place is Zaun... I... I shouldn't trust people from Zaun." Wait... why did he know this? HOW did he know this? "You want something... What is it? Are you one of them? If you are, you should run. It killed the others, it removed their skin and eyes, and flooded into their lungs."
The black wolf finally fell, electrical sparks flying from it occasionally. Its eyes slowly dimmed out, only to come on again... and go out again. It had entered a 'reboot' mode, and was currently repairing it's inner mechanics from the damage it had sustained. This would take it a few minutes without the help of its creator, so it was effectively down. For now.
"There's no reason to not trust Zaunites, hun. All I want is to help you." She held her hands up to show she meant no harm, moving into view of the swarm. "And no, I'm not with the men from outside."
The man continued to watch the creature, waiting to shoot if necessary.
"No reason? Zaun is a place in which few people have morals and are willing to do anything for profit or progress." He sounded confused as he said this, as though it were something he has rehearsed, but never really understood. Maybe she did want to help him. Perhaps she could tell him what she knew. "Do you know who they are? What... it is? What the... thing that comes out of me is?"
