The Forests of Demacia [1700, Cloudy]
Night did not fall so quickly when Winter was still so far away, but Quinn knew that dangers lurked even when dusk had not yet called. Still, such worry was, as of this moment, far from her mind as she sped through the brushes of Demacia. With Valor soaring overhead, she could never help herself - it was a race, even if she knew she could never outrun the strong beats of an eagle. Valor was calling something to her from high above, and it was a little more than difficult to hide the rare laughter that was beginning to bubble up.
When they had run a fair distance, she called for a stop, placing her hand against a boulder in order to catch her breath. Valor dipped down to land gracefully a top the stone, casting a smug look at the ranger. Quinn merely rolled her eyes as she slid to the ground, stretching out a single leg while the other supported her languid arm. She leaned her head back with a sigh. She had done her duties for the day, and had visited her parents for the evening and so now was the time to let herself free. It was a ritual of hers, in a sense. Except for a time, it had been Caleb instead of Valor. She had always wondered what her brother would have thought of Valor, though it would not surprise her if they ended up playing tricks on her. It was just who they were. Are.
"Hey Valor," Quinn said, tilting her head back slightly, getting a slight glimpse of her companion's clawed feet, "Think you can catch a rabbit faster than I can?" She grinned as Valor ruffled his feathers almost as if he had taken offense to such a challenge. He spread his wings, but did not lift off, instead staring impatiently at her. Quinn quickly got to her feet, readying her weapon. She stretched her legs out as slowly as possible as the eagle eyed her. "Cleanest kill wins!" The ranger suddenly cried, and was off, grinning as the bird's shrieks rang behind her.
But for all of Valor's protests, Quinn knew he loved a challenge.
Shyvana's feet hit heavy against the grass of the Demacian soil, her arms folded against her, anger drew all over her face. "Sometimes I don't even know why I help these humans.." she grumbled to herself, her eyes glancing over to a nearby tree. "AHH!" She reared back and slammed her gauntlet into it. *CRACK*[/i] bark flew in every direction as the tree shook from the force of the attack. Shyvana let out a growl of anger and continued her walk, arms returned folded.
She hadn't taken more than ten steps when she heard the tree snap and crash to the ground...

The rabbit she had spotted had not yet seen her. Quinn had made sure that her scent was being carried down-wind, but the critters were known to be jumpy and paranoid. For good reason, of course. Its nose twitched as its head tilted back and forth, ears nervously bouncing about as it moved cautiously. Quinn hefted her weapon, taking aim through the thin foliage. She was this close to letting the arrow fly when a loud snap could be heard just as she had turned her head, rabbit fled in panic along with a few dozen birds that had no doubt been getting ready to roost.
But Quinn had her attentions set elsewhere, and already she had whistled for Valor to pause his hunt. He knew, of course. Any sound so loud would be a cause for immediate concern and investigation. It was too loud to be a weapon, but at the same time, what would cause a single tree to fall to the ground? Or more importantly, who? The ranger had edged herself slowly to where the sound had resonated from, and where she had seen the birds fly.
Upon emerging, what greeted her was an odd sight. The half-dragon, Shyvana, who appeared to be walking away from the scene of the crime and the crime being a forlorn looking tree with its trunk snapped - but not at the base, at an average fist height. Quinn glanced at Shyvana suspiciously, "Did you do this?" Valor landed nearby, though his only move was to ruffle his feathers quietly.
The Half-Dragon simply continued to walk, grumbling about how weak and helpless humans were sometimes, her eyes narrowed and focused on the ground. Only did she stop and turn when she was greeted by none other than Quinn, and her eagle, Valor. The Half-Dragon furrowed her brows and turned her head back to the fallen tree... thinking it a stupid question for the ranger to ask.. though, she kept that to herself.
"Yes, I did that." She replied bluntly, almost seeming annoyed that her walk was halted. "What of it."

Quinn walked to where the top of the tree would have been, its leaves falling all over each other like a scene from a dramatic play. She shifted her fingers through it thoughtfully. Though she was not quite the type to berate people for not treating the wildlife properly, it still seemed a little unnecessary and excessively violent. A good start.
The ranger shrugged. "If you're going to punch something to death, there's the training grounds for that." Valor clicked his beak, and Quinn glanced at him briefly, "Unless your training is to break trees apart, which wouldn't be surprising." She tilted her head as the half-dragon stopped her stride. Shyvana wasn't really the type of personality she would converse with frequently and it seemed like she had a mission in mind.
Shyvana furrowed her brows at Quinn, turning the rest of her body to face her. "Would you rather me take my aggression out on the trees, or living things." Shyvana said, kicking some leaves off of her boot. "Because you don't know how many times that thought as crossed my mind." Shyvana then sighed. "And as far as the training grounds go, not many things there were made to withstand the punch of a Half-Dragon... I honestly did not expect to break that tree... apparently I do not know my own strength at times." She then said.

Quinn tilted her head, "Training grounds, training targets. It doesn't have to breathe to provide a challenge." Upon closer inspection of her current conversational partner, Shyvana didn't appear to sound at all smug. She decided to venture a little further, curious now. "Sometimes its a better idea to replace anger with something other than more rage. That's how I see it, anyway." She wasn't so much as offering heartfelt advice as she was simply giving simple suggestions. She knew that the half-dragon wouldn't take too kindly to any form of beration.
"What are you doing out here then, if not for breaking trees?"
Shyvana simply shook her head. "More rage is all I have to offer." She replied flatly, her golden eyes running over Quinn lithe form. "These people see me as a beast, so they get one." The Half-Dragon then walked over and leaned up against a nearby tree. "I was blowing off steam... that would be the reason for the broken tree."

"To each their own," the ranger replied with another simple shrug. She expected such an answer, and though she was not well-versed on the history of dragons, everyone had heard the tales. Though Shyvana remained as much of a mystery as she was when she first came to Demacia. It had been news that quickly spread even through the more urban areas of the grand city, though many of her brethren had not yet seen the half-dragon in the flesh. In a way, she should have felt honored.
At her next words, however, Quinn could not help but arch an eyebrow. "These people?" She tapped her foot, "I suppose for the country side, we grew up hearing stories about how dragons ravaged the lands to scare us. But there were also the kind ones who helped good children."
A quiet breath escaped her, "If you mean the nobles, well... they like to judge everyone. To them, I'll always be a simple commoner, and you will always be a dragon. But that's not something to be insulted by." Valor let out another screech and Quinn nodded. It wasn't in her best interest to act too sentimental, so she shook her head. "I don't know what caused your irritation and it isn't in my place to ask, but smacking things around isn't your only option."
"As you said ranger... to each their own." As if to further prove Quinn's point, the Half-Dragon reared back and drove her gauntlet into a smaller tree beside her, breaking it in two and sending the upper half flying a short distance back. Shyvana then straightened herself up, seemingly feeling better. The Half-Dragon rolled her shoulders forward before turning and locking eyes with Quinn. Shyvana's piercing gaze was more than enough to unnerve any normal person.
"Unlike you humans, I cannot keep my anger bottled up... to do so, would be very... unwise decision." Shyvana tilted her head to the side, letting her neck pop. "I doubt the Prince would enjoy me snapping on some poor fool and having a dragon wreck his city." Shyvana released her gauntlets and let them fall to the soil with a loud thud, giving an indication just how heavy they were. She then placed her hands on her helmet and slipped it off, running a hand through her scarlet hair.
"And I do not care for the nobles.." She replied. "I only care when I go out of my way to help them and they treat me like an animal." The Half-Dragon examined her helmet for a moment before replacing it on her head and picking up her gauntlets again. "Then again, I am a beast, so perhaps they are right to treat as much." Shyvana's words were flat, holding no ill will. Perhaps she believed it to be true.

"Sure, but make sure you don't demolish the entire forest. It's sort of important." Quinn watched as the tree went reeling back by some strange reason, falling back rather than forward with a familiar sounding crash - except twice the volume, considering the closer proximity. The eye contact did not go unnoticed, and she matched Shyvana's gaze firmly. As intimidating as the half-dragon may try to act, she was not one to shirk so readily at such blatant displays. "I'm not its keeper, but this place is important to me." Valor clicked his beak as if to confirm her words. It was not a threat or a warning but a simple fact.
Quinn nodded as if she understood, "Except in your anger, you may hurt those who are undeserving of such violence. Even if you don't care for them, you of all people would know what it's like to be judged as the weaker link." It was a sensitive nerve, no doubt, but the ranger gave it no thought. From what she had heard about Shyvana, the half-dragon's youth was a not so happy experience. "I also doubt Prince Jarvan would be happy to hear that you also decimated Demacia's countryside." She pointed out, feeling the ground beneath her feet vibrate as the armor was dropped. Again, she did not bat a single eyelash.
She didn't quite understand why she was entertaining Shyvana in this odd conversation. It would have been better for her to allow the half-dragon to go on her way, but it was both curiosity and mild suspicion that ground her to this place. After all, she held many fond memories in this place, along with the times she and Caleb had marked this or that with sticks and stones. Quinn sighed, rubbing her shoulder, "Why would you help someone who does not appreciate you? In the end, respect only goes so far to those that earn it and they - from what I hear - have done nothing to have yours." Another breath, "I don't believe you are." A ghost of a grin swept across her lips, "Even if you think you are, beasts are known to be more majestic than humans in most aspects. It just goes to show that people who use it as an insult are too shallow to know any different."
"I would have to be extremely angry to do such a thing." Shyvana retorted. "I am already feeling better... or my definition of better." Shyvana simply sat there for a moment, seeing as Valor seemed to agree with his companion. Shyvana then furrowed her brows. "I came here to specifically not hurt people..." She replied, folding her hands over her chest once more. Shyvana simply shook her head a little as Quinn kept going, she did not know why the ranger was talking to her, but it's not like Shyvana had anything better to do. She did not know much about Quinn, other than she was more or less the "scout" of Demacia... specializing in going behind enemy lines. Something Shyvana did not fully understand... why go behind them when you can ram through them.
"Why would I help someone who didn't deserve it? Because Prince Jarvan would.." Shyvana sighed a little, her eyes flickering to the soil for a moment as if she were recalling a distant memory, but her eyes then turned back to Quinn. Shyvana then raised an eyebrow a little... "Your words are kind, ranger. I suppose I should thank you for them."

[1730, Darkening Clouds]
"Maybe go to a place where there's nothing around you and yell at the sky," Quinn suggested. "Unless you want to destroy things." Which wouldn't surprise her, really. Shyvana's expression more or less betrayed mild confusion, and it mirrored the ranger's exact thoughts. The question was not why she was talking to the dragon. Not anymore. The fact that Shyvana hadn't merely walked away from her meant that she wasn't being entirely rude. Nonetheless, it was strangely entertaining. Though the other had not yet gleaned anything too personal, she had learned so much in such a short time.
"Prince Jarvan helps those in need. You help those who take advantage of you." She shrugged, "I am no expert on Prince Jarvan's inner-mind, but I don't think he would be too happy if he knew how those court nobles treated you." At the unexpected thanks, the ranger found herself looking away as she folded her arms. "You don't need to" Quinn glanced back, "I say what I mean, and I've never needed thanks for them."
"Well.. thank you nonetheless." Shyvana replied, looking around at the minor destruction she caused... her stomach growled slightly... and it is then that a rabbit caught her eyes, the tiny creature had hopped out of hiding when all the noise had subsided.. looking around, it began to nibble on some grass... Shyvana narrowed her eyes and inched closer.. closer.. she then shot a fireball at it, striking it dead. Shyvana then wondered over and took a bite out of the flaming corpse.

"It's... fine." Quinn rubbed the back of her neck, unsure of what she should say next. The slight rustling of trees however had caught her attention, and she looked over to the source - a curious rabbit had decided to come nosing around. Valor also had his eyes on it as their previous competition had not yet gone forgotten. He was rocking on the branch when the loud crackle of something burst forth and seared the critter crisp. The ranger was silent as she watched Shyvana begin to devour the still sizzling rabbit.
To each their own. The smell was a little strong, but Quinn decided not to say a word and instead looked up. The clouds were beginning to darken, heavy with rain. She sighed. "The weather doesn't look very promising. It was... interesting meeting you, Shyvana, but Valor and I must get going. We--" Before she could finish her sentence, a scream had locked her throat up tight. It was faint, but it bounded through the forest as clear as day. The ranger motioned to Valor, who immediately took off to scout the source of the noise.
"That sounded from the east," she said, directing her words towards Shyvana. "It's a well known territory of bandits who still roam the country side. I... need to check it out."
