Aetius listened to what the man had to say, he listened carefully, at that. He spent several moments pondering to himself after Jon had finished speaking. Should this man know of his abilities? Could he be trusted with the knowledge? He seemed worthy enough of his trust up until now. Aetius finally decided. Yes, perhaps he should know. He may be able to tell him something that he did not know. Aetius finally exited his pondering, and spoke.
"Do you have anything that...shoots electricity, sir? There is something you may want to see, sir."

Jon raised an eyebrow at Aetius's question; was there something he knew that he wished to show? He could only find out.
"'shoots' electricity? well, I do not believe we have any weapon in our arsenal that uses electricity itself as a weapon, but we do have an... electric powered weapon, if you will. I'll have it brought up in just a moment."
With that, he waved one of his Options to go to the arsenal to bring back the PERL. While the Option left to do so, he turned back to Aetius and spoke again.
"So, what would it be that you would wish to show me?"

Aetius stopped for several moments, trying to think of how he would explain his...condition to the CMO. No easy way of phrasing it came to his mind. Exiting his state of thought, he spoke.
"It is hard to explain. It would be best if I simply showed you, sir."

Jon simply nodded as the Option returned with the PERL.
"Alright, what I happen to have here is a Prototypical Electrical Rocket Launcher, or PERL for short. It's the closest the arsenal has to an electrical weapon, so if you wish to demonstrate, here it is."

Technology was not Aetius' strong point. He looked at the PERL as if it were an artifact from an alien world. He approached it, rather uncertain of what he should do. Eventually, he gave up on trying to figure out the weapon, and turned to Jon.
"Could you make this weapon...shoot electricity, sir? I have no idea how to use it."

Jon raised an eyebrow, and was about to restate what he had just said, when he realized what the man had meant.
"One second..." and with that he turned around, opened the windows behind his desk, and readied the PERL.
The next moment, Jon fired a rocket, and it streamed out of the window into the air, leaving a trail of electricity behind it, almost as if the rocket were connected by that electrical beam to the PERL.
"Alright, is this what you need?"

Aetius took in a deep breath, and held his arm out toward the electrical trail. He had not even touched it when the electricity seemed to be sucked into his fingers. With a loud blast of sound comparable to that of thunder, Aetius lit up with electricity. His eyes glowed white, and small sparks of electricity arced between the plates on his armor. When Aetius spoke, his voice sounded different, as if it were one of a diety.
"This is what I wanted to show you."

Jon gave a small spasm when the connection went off; his ears rang for a few moments, and int he meantime he disconnected the PERL, detonating the rocket he had fired earlier off harmlessly in the sky. Turning to see Aetius, he raised an eyebrow; it was certainly something new Jon had never seen before, but in light of what he had already seen, did not seem all that amazed.
Still, the fact that this person had... control of lightning, he decided to call it, was not a power a person came into his office every once in a while.
"So... you have control of lightning?" He asked Aetius; it was a seemingly obvious question, but he still asked it nonetheless.

Aetius extended the fingers on his palm, and looked, almost curiously, at them, as small pulses of electricity ran down his palm. He spoke, his vision still fixated on his palm.
"Yes, that is correct."

Jon simply nodded in response.
"Well, I admit I've never seen someone with that capability with my own eyes before... but it does bring up another question: is there something you would want me to know about this... power, of yours?"

Aetius sighed, and diverted his gaze away from his still pulsing hand. He closed his eyes for several moments, and the lightning slowly dissipated. When he opened his eyes, they were back to normal.
"I got these abilities after my father was killed. I was....angry. Very, very angry. I unlocked a part of myself that I knew nothing of that day."

Aetius sighed once more. This was a painful story to tell, but he decided he might as well narrate it to the man.
"My father and I...we were wanderers. My mother died in childbirth, so it was just him and me. We were confronted by bandits one day, more than we could possibly fight. My father stood his ground, and he told me to run. I did, but I would not have been able to live with myself had I never turned back. I ran back to him, just as he was cut down. The bandits mocked me over my grief. It soon turned to rage."
Aetius began to spark with some electricity, and his eyes glowed, but faintly.
"When I got back to my feet to fight, I felt different. Never before had I been so full of grief and rage when I fought. I felt a power, within me, in my reach. I grasped it, and all despite there being no storm or clouds earlier, I was struck by lightning, and fighting in a thunderstorm. I had control over the air, over lightning, over the storm itself. I used it to kill the bandits, down to the last man. When they were all dead, my powers subsided, and the clouds were gone."
Aetius returned to normal once more when he had finished his narrative. He sighed deeply, and waited for Jon's response.

Jon listened to Aetius's tale, and at the end, he simply stood there, pondering the story behind the man's powers.
So, he did have control of lightning to the extent he had witnessed... and it was a form of control unlike any other he had even heard of. It came to him in an odd moment that the man's moment of ascension came at a rather convenient time, but then again, when didn't they? He couldn't tell whether or not he'd believe Aetius's story, but for now, what could he believe? The man had control of lightning, for crying out loud.
...but there had to be a reason the powers that be chose to give Aetius such a power; there was no way it could have been a chance occurrence. No, something, or even possibly someone decided to let him have that capability. Of course, he thought to himself, bringing himself back to where he was, it couldn't be a priority, but should he have the time, he should look into it further...
When he finished digressing his thoughts in his mind, he looked back up at Aetius.
"Well, have you shown this capability of this power you wield ever since the day you discovered it within you?"

Aetius paused for a moment before he spoke.
"I..try not to use it. I feel so very close to losing control when I use my powers. I do not know the full extent of my abilities, either. I felt as if I could create giant thunderstorms, tornadoes, maybe even a hurricane when I first used my ability. I would rather not accidentally destroy a village because I did not think before I acted. Sometimes, though, I use it to fight bandits. I make sure none get away to spread the word, though. I prefer to keep my powers a secret."
