Almyra really did not care what it was she ate. She had certainly had worse than this, and very rarely had better. She was acting strangely now, though, she seemed distracted. After a short delay, she responded to Soraka, yet she spoke with rhyme and rhythm. "All is well, you need not worry, I've had far less swell, I've even had grub curry. Water is fine, it will taste divine. Especially when compared to mud slurry." Then, as though nothing had happened, she picked up her spoon and carefully began eating the soup, blowing on each spoonful to make sure it wasn't too hot.

Soraka put her hand under her chin, studying Almyra. 'Hmm so this is what they meant when they said she was erratic.' She then dropped her hand and cut off a slice of bread with her knife. The Starchild ripped off the squishy middle and dabbed it in her soup. While eatng she looked to her left to the window. The sun was starting to set, making the beautiful blue Ionian sky red and orange.
"It will be night soon, the stars will be out. Do you have a place to sleep at? If not I can prepare another bed. You are welcome to stay as long as you wish."

"Many a night, I have slept, not contrite, Under the stars, Out of doors, But I will say, A bed inside, which you supplied, The choice is not hard to decide. One night I stay, then I will go To study the world none truly know." She spoke with rhyme again, though it was not difficult to get the message she was trying to get across. She looked out the window, admiring the sunset. Then she grabbed her piece of bread, tore off a bit and ate it.

The Starchild was fascinated by this young girl's seemingly random changes from talking to rhyming. In all the time she has lived through all of the people she has met she has never met one quite like her. Soraka didn't want to frighten the girl by continuing to just stare at her though, so she continued to eat her meal.
"Once the sun sets I am going to be outside for a while, you are welcome to join me if you'd like."

Almyra swallowed the piece of bread she was chewing, then spoke normally again. "Yes, that sounds enjoyable. I find it fascinating, being outdoors. The strings, even the small portion that are visible to me, form giant, complicated webs, more complicated than those indoors, as more living things interact with their environment. Ripples spread everywhere, it's truly a thing of beauty." She smiled, "That is why I wander, you know, to see the beauty of the strings."

Soraka nodded at this.
"Yes I do understand that, life is an amazing thing. I wandered for a while too, when I left my grove. After a few years I found this island and decided I would make my home here. It is beautiful here, life is abundant."
Now finished eating, the Starchild claimed all of her dishes and brought them to the sink. She turned on the faucet and started cleaning her bowl.

"Not only life, everything connects with everything else in some way or another. Life merely makes the most connections, pulls the most strings. Inanimate things, like rocks, mountains, tides, they also have beauty to them. Even death has its own beauty, its own significance in this universe." She stood and walked over to be next to Soraka. "Is there any way I can help?"

"Ah yes if you could please place the lid on the pot and put it in the fridge."
She points to the pot then the fridge with a soapy hand.
"Nature does have its' own beauty as well, though I hate death. I try my best to prevent it. I have to buy meats instead of hunting or fishing, for I can't stand to kill anything. I tried fishing, but I would just end up healing the wounds the hook made and returning them to the ocean."

Almyra does as Soraka asks, then returns to standing near her. "Nature is not alone in beauty. Large cities like Piltover and Demacia, even Zaun and Noxus have beauty to me. The apparent chaos and randomness of people walking, running, riding from place to place, fighting, eating drinking, going about their business, all of the activity there holds strings, creates them, breaks them, stretches and pulls them. That is the beauty I see, the relationships. The beauty of the cities and nature, life and death, is the same to me. The chaos of the universe, this is beauty, seemingly unpredictable, yet when the strings are visible, it is predictable, to an extend. Everything has consequences, be they minor or dire, the beauty I see is the relationship between actions and their consequences." She paused for a moment, then continued. "Have you ever considered the consequences of your own actions? How the healing of one man may affect others, may lead to the deaths of hundreds, like how the flapping of a butterfly's wings may lead to a blizzard hitting a village in Freljord. Perhaps in killing the fish you have caught, you save an aquatic civilization, or condemn one."

Soraka smiled at this, she has heard a large variety of beliefs in her time. People feel incredibly strong about these beliefs, many willing to die for them.
"I am simply a giver of life, as ordered by the stars. My beliefs on chain of events does not matter to them. I fulfill their wishes, no questions asked. The last time I disobeyed them it ended horribly."
As she said this she finished the dishes. She dried her hands with a towel.
"I am ready to go outside now if you would like to."

Almyra nodded at Soraka's response. "I see, interesting. Many people respond as you do, acting in the present for the most part. I do this as well for the most part, not letting the possible consequences affect my judgement, I merely consider them, try to predict how the strings will be pulled, and see the results later on, then make note of them. It is rarely a matter of ethics that I consider such things, more of a matter of gaining knowledge. I hope to learn to better predict the chaotic system we all live in. That, for me, is enlightenment, being able to predict the results of our actions through understanding of chaos. I know I will not achieve this, yet I still try, hoping that some day my work will be passed along to future generations, such that they may come close to making accurate predictions. To my knowledge, it is impossible. None can see all of the strings, and sight of all of the strings is require to make perfect predictions. When graphed, our minds are like hyperbolas, and true enlightenment and ignorance are the asymptotes."
She smiled, "Yes, I'll go outside with you."
She would allow Soraka to go out first, then follow her.

"Ah, so enlightenment is what you seek in life. I merely seek the life of others."
The Starchild then walks to her front door, turning to see if Almyra was following her. Then she exited the small home and into the cool Ionian night. It is beautiful in Ionia at night, the sky is pitch black and the millions of stars are shining brightly. She stands just outside her hut looking up to the sky, almost mesmerized. She then reaches her arms up, as if trying to grab something. Anyone who knows her would know that this a nightly ritual that she does.

Almyra followed, once they were outside, she also looked up at the sky, enjoying the stars. She smiles again, then notices Soraka raising her arms. She tilts her head, curious. "What are you doing?"
Post by The Starchild on Jan 27, 2013 1:04:20 GMT -5
Almyra's words broke Soraka from her trance. She lowered her arms sheepishly, and turned back to her guest.
"Every night I look to the sky and try to grab the stars. I know it's impossible, but I have to at least try. I miss them more than anything. It is strange, to be with something for hundreds of years, then suddenly it is gone. Out of your reach..."
She trails off the last sentence. After a short pause she then looks back up to the sky.
"Losing them is my only regret in life. I don't mind losing my immortality, but it is torture without my best friend."
The cruelty of one will not blind me of the suffering of many.
"I see, perhaps one day you will be able to rejoin the stars. I cannot predict it, there are too many variables, too many strings remain unseen. Perhaps you may make other friends, people dearer to you than even the stars." She looks back up at the stars. "I never really understood friendship, and never felt regret, and I doubt I ever will. It is most likely due to the way I think and act, and partially due to my philosophy, many people tend to avoid me the minute I say I believe in chaos."
