The Inventor found himself following this man - John Cole, who himself came from Piltover; that was a surprise - to the office where he would meet Irelia, who for some reason unknown to him had a need for his services. Normally he wouldn't expect to be pulled like this, but times are special, and perhaps it would be refreshing to once again assist another champion where he could.
Finding himself in the room John led him into, he looked up at the Captain of Ionia's guard, and gave a small smile, a twinkle in his eye."Hello, miss. I have been informed that you request of my assistance, and so I am here to render such in whatever form I may do so," Heimerdinger spoke, in his normally kind yet curious tone, always being to mentally question that which is reality.

Drown in her paperwork, Irelia kept gathering and writing down everything concerning the investigation she has conducted month ago with the General. She never rested since then and kept working hard to be able to come up with a solution to the problems they were facing. She was not expecting John to find Heimerdinger that quickly but she was in for a surprise. As John walked through the door and announced the arrival of the inventor, Irelia quickly packed her papers and placed them in the portfolio before she straightly stood up and held a rather firm stance as the Revered Inventor stepped in. "I have not expect my student to find you so quickly Heimerdinger, but it makes me happy to see that you have accepted my request, please, take a seat as I have matters I would like to discuss with you."
She pointed at the chair that was at the front of her desk before she looked at John and said. "I will have to ask you to leave the two of us alone my dear, I will see you later after we are done."

"Very well, I shall wait for when you are ready" The Inventor replied, after which he promptly hopped up into a seat and waited, twiddling his thumbs and slowly looking around at the office area, his mind attempting to find any pattern he could recognize within the interior design and various objects that caught his attention.
John gave an affirmative nod and replied. "Will do Captain. I'll be out doing a run around the Placidium if you need me." He gave her a quick salute and slipped out of the office, closing the door behind him. He grinned as he made his way out of the Placidium. He had been watching the list of names for weeks as closely as he could to make sure he got this done quickly and efficiently. Course he didn't expect Irelia to be surprised, guess she underestimated him.
He stepped outside, breathed in the fresh air, and began his run.

Irelia sat down on her chair behind her desk, letting Heimerdinger look around to familiarize himself with the office before she said. "The reason I wished to see was the fact that I wanted to learn more about Hextech weaponry and that I wanted to know what they are truly capable of and how one can possibly fight against their power. I assumed that you are the person who would know about such things and thus I am asking for your help to better understand this technology."

Heimerdinger closed his eyes and listened to Irelia's explanation, nodding his head after every sentence to signal that he understood what she asked. At the end, he took a small breath and, opening his eyes again, looked at her directly in her own eyes.
"Well, Miss, rest assured you have asked the right mind to assist you in that problem, I will say," he began, "but your question is very vague, and a little too broad for me to immediately provide any sufficient answer. So, I must ask in return: what exactly do you wish for me to explain about such hextech weaponry? Or is it that you need an analysis of some device for which you are unfamiliar with?" The Inventor asked in response, slightly tilting his head in wonder.

Irelia leaned back before grabbing a paper and placed it in front of her. She looked back up at the Inventor and asked just two questions to understand what damage could they cause and what could they penetrate. "Well let us start with what I need to know about them most of all. How tough should an armor be to resist them? And is such armor possibly to create and even carry around?"
Post by The Revered Inventor on Jan 17, 2014 20:59:33 GMT -5
"Well, you will need to specify more parameters for me to give a more specific answer," the Inventor replied honestly, "But for the questions you asked me: the durability of the armor depends on the amount of energy that is imparted upon contact that one wishes to block. In other words: it depends on the gun. Naturally, the weight of said protection depends on the actual design, which goes back to the first part."
"If I would opine my opinion, knowing what firearms are in question would greatly assist me in assisting you," he concluded, nodding his head curtly, his mustache twitching.

"So there are more than one type of hextech guns..." Irelia thought to herself as she scribbled down a note on her paper. To be honest, she had no idea what the Noxians were using, and that was putting a wrench in her wheels. Suddenly, an idea came to her mind; Why worry about what they're going to use when you can simply see the strength of the strongest model? Maybe Heimerdinger would give a positive answer to her on that matter. "Let us take the strongest firearm you are aware of as an example. If you could fill me in with all the capabilities of the gun, it will greatly help us move forward. I do not need to know how it works nor how it is built, I simply wish to know what could possibly cut down its power in terms of armors."

Heimerdinger twitched at the question; there were weapons he did know of that Irelia would likely very much, but such information was classified, and he was not permitted to reveal for the sake of Piltover. Instead, he decided to pick more common weapons, and simply use them as a guide-line.
"Well, the more powerful firearms I am aware of are employed by the summoners for us champions to use on the Fields, if my knowledge serves me correct."
"Let's start with the most common one: The Hextech Revolver. A sturdy, reliable .36 caliber, 6-shot, double enchanted hammer action revolver, it's nominal output is roughly around ~725 joules, or enough to penetrate up to light armor completely and with multiple hits shred medium armor, though heavier variants and magical shields that are designed to absorb kinetic impacts of said level will defeat it."
"Because of its common use and prevalence in League matches, most city-states have the blueprints to these weapons and produce it to some extent, especially the Technological city-states. I do know that the Piltovian Police had this as their first official sidearm, and there are many variants of this weapon, though none actually breach the 725 joule limit I've just mentioned. Now, of course, this is no longer the most powerful revolver in service, but it is the easiest one to produce, and the one thus most studied."
"Now, there are stronger calibers out there: the .40, the .44 - I know that particular round is used in a revolver that is very famous with one Piltovian policeman right now - and even a .50 shot and beyond. However, those are rare, and usually are not employed in substantial numbers."
"Now, for rifles... that is a whole different animal, and one I will need a board of some sorts to explain better. Is it possible you have something akin to a whiteboard around here?" The Inventor asked, twitching his ever-noticeable mustache.

Irelia closely listened to the Inventor as he stated the different characteristics of the revolver and took notes of every possible detail that could help her in the near future. Although, she doubted the Noxians would simply use a revolver that could be stopped by heavy armor and magical barriers, but it is still a possibility since Heimerdinger mentioned that the stronger guns are only produced in small numbers.
At the mention of the word Rifle, Irelia tilted her head. It seemed like it was a more complex gun that the one previously mentioned and it peaked her interest. She simply nodded and stood up to make her way to a nearby closet where she kept a rather decent board for Heimerdinger to use. She placed it right in front of the door and made her way back to her chair. "I suppose this board will do the trick, and do not worry about someone coming in; usually no one disturbs me when I have a guest over unless it is urgent.

Heimerdinger waited while Irelia moved the board, to which he gave a curt nod and promptly moved his chair over to the board so he could actually write on it - he was a Yordle, after all. Once standing, he began to give an explanation while drawing the diagrams of some firearms from his memory and listed his points alongside them.
"Well, there are many types of said rifles, all of which have their advantages and disadvantages. Currently, there are three types, from which all hextech weapons share the following characteristics."
"The first one - and also the most popular - is the semi-automatic rifle. These weapons discharge a single gun every activation, and require no further action: simply squeeze the trigger to fire a round, and repeat as wanted until done or the weapon is empty. These weapons are numerous, and to list them all would be impractical; but to say the least, most standard rifles of this day and age can easily penetrate medium armor, and in massed volumes can even break through heavier variants. They are heavy, however, and usually are difficult to reload at times; thus, they are usually employed in numbers."
"The second type is the automatic rifle. This firearm does what it says: hold down the trigger, and instead of one shot the weapon will continue to fire, until the firearm is out of ammunition. This weapon is far more rare, but is far more devastating and is capable of allowing the user to engage multiple targets before reloading. Of course, due to the incredibly complex and advanced nature of this type of firearm, the hextech device attached to it means it is consequently heavier, more complicated to reload, and - most importantly - fields a weaker round, and so it will not penetrate heavy armor or shielding."
"The third - and final - type is actually not really a type, so much as a collection, but they are generalized under one category, and so are still considered a type: the bolt-action rifle. Where the semi-automatic rifle is the middle of the bar between power and rate of fire, and the automatic rifle leans towards rate of fire, the bolt-action rifle is a hextech firearm that favors power. This weapon requires a bolt - usually on the side - that needs to be adjusted and pulled in-between ever shot, which naturally renders it the slowest firing weapon out there. However, these weapons employ the post potent of bullets, and thus impart the highest of energies every shot. These weapons - if accurate enough - will shred through heavy armor, and especially large calibers can even penetrate certain fortress walls."
"Now, there's one other thing about these firearms I should probably say..." The Inventor added, trailing off and beginning to tap his head, attempting to remember.

"I am listening..." Said the Captain as her hand kept writing down the important notes down on the paper. She was not even paying attention to the white sheet that was getting covered with ink and words, it was as if she writing down unconsciously while listening to Heimerdinger.
Packing day... John hefted up his backpack and sighed. He didn't get to stay in this workshop for long. As much as he could stuff was packed into his backpack of course, the rest he'd have to make a second trip for, but he didn't really need to get it yet. He looked down and smiled at Erica, her own little backpack filled up. He held a hand in-front of him, letting her out first and turned around, staring at his workshop with a small frown. A quick wave and he flicked the switch, the lights turning off and bathing the room in mostly darkness. He took a few steps backward and slid the door shut and turning around, taking the child's hand and walking alongside her silently through the halls and towards the exit.

Heimerdinger took off his goggles and, taking out a handkerchief, began to slowly clean them. He looked up to Irelia, and spoke clearly.
"Before I begin to explain, I believe that you are indeed aware of the most recent hextech weaponry invented that has been employed on the Fields of Justice, in particular the Hextech Gunblade?" The Inventor gave a somewhat sad expression upon asking his question, and if Irelia looked closely, something could be seen in his left eye...
