On the morning after the second soiree Singed had made all the arrangements and had send a letter of “challenge” to the person he was waiting.
The board and the pieces made of marble perfectly sculpted into the representation of units of war.
Black and white those colors distinguished the perfectly identical armies whose only objective in existence was to destroy one another time after time on an endless time loop as how would call it.
He had arranged a game of minds against one of the most brilliant ones of his time but why would he do such a thing? Easy, because if the man couldn’t even best him in his own “game” there wasn’t an actual reason to follow him.
All was ready in the room or the surroundings weren’t anyone but Singed so they could talk without any discretion about some other business during the game.
The hour was almost here and Singed couldn’t hide an glimmer of excitement after all has hadn’t lose a game of chess in his life…maybe this time he would get some fun such monumental challenge
Clouds hung grey over Noxus. There, on the balcony, a pristine chess set lay arranged upon a two-man table. The servants had spread a rug beneath it over the polished marble platform, and brought out two chairs upholstered in crimson for the men who would soon inhabit them. The slightest of bemused smirks behind his shroud, The Master Tactician emerged shortly after his guest into the dreary morning.
He offered a slow nod, a gesture of greeting to his comrade. Luminous eyes flickered over the arranged table, then out over the impressive lay of the city below in calm appreciation of the setting. "Good morning, Singed," came the Grand General's formal address. He folded his hands over his cane, making no move towards the arrangement. Instead, he affixed his gaze confidently upon the lanky form of the Mad Chemist.
The letter he had received with tea that morning had been simple enough:
Chess, Seven A.M.? The western balcony has quite the fantastic view. Will you humor me, general?
--Singed
A test veiled in the ruse of a game--but The Master Tactician seemed pleased to acquiesce. "Well, Chemist." He lifted his chin, adopting a dignified pose. "Black or white?" His smirk broadened slightly as he ribbed, "The end result will be the same."

Singed at comfortably on the chair showing an incredible amount of confidence considering the rival.
“Already resigned to losing? I here I thought that you would provide me real challenge.
Just kidding let’s leave the trash talking aside I believe that neither of us would fall to such childish tactics. White I know that you feel at home observing your opponent and I love to be on the attack.” The pieces were already in place and even if he hadn’t given an answer it was clear that he wanted to play as the white king seeing on which side on the board he had sat on.
“Let’s not play with clocks the worry about time clouds the mind and I wan’t to see yours as clear as the day”

Swain chuckled at the Chemist's amiable jab. He lowered himself slowly into the chair at the black side of the table, leaned his cane against his armrest. "To see my mind, Chemist?" Without hesitation, he moved his own queen's pawn out to match the white one, d5, face-to-face. "An interesting aim."
He rested a gnarled finger of his other hand over his shroud, beneath his healing nose. "I wonder what you hope to find there."

“Who knows maybe I want to find who you are, maybe I want to find the future that awaits for us”
He said knowing that the grand general had great plans for the future and wanting to grasp this person essence as a strategist and fellow genius.
Singed moved the pawn of the queen’s bishop forward giving Swain the chance to take it if he takes it Singed would lose the pawn but win an advantage of two tempos that would sum to the whites natural advantage of 1 tempo.
“Take it or leave it the end result will show me your inner workings”
He said on a cheerful tone knowing that the man in front of him was a real rival on the game and not someone to take lightly.

The Grand General's hand hovered in mid-air for but a moment, the slightest of confident smirks crinkling the pre-mature agelines on his face. "The future?" he inquired lightly. "Hm. Perhaps I'll grant you some insight." At his shoulder, Beatrice folded her wings, looking on in apparent intrigue of the game.
Swain placed a single withered finger upon the head of the king's pawn and pushed it forward one square, calculating, preparing, cautious--a move that forced Singed to shoulder the initiative. "To strike the first blow, more often than not, puts one at a distinct disadvantage." Crimson eyes flashed over his opponent. He let his assertion hang in the air, a deceptively simple statement that held so many layers of meanings, references, foreshadowing. "Better to wait. To watch. To prepare."

“Ah time over material it seems but yes even a defense is a good attack in the correct hands.”
Said Singed looking at the game and thinking of his partner statement true he was waiting for the time to strike and arduously preparing for that but to strike what? Demacia was the painfully obvious answer but that wouldn’t benefit Noxus at least not for now and Swain knew it.
Prepare for a war that we won’t initiate at least not openly that would be the general idea that Singed got for the little pieces of information that he had gathered over those months.
He moved the Queens knight a deceptively offensive movement securing that in case Swain took the queens pawn he couldn’t advance it further and developing the knight ready to take a central square if needed to.

"Correct," the general affirmed. In a mirror move, he lifted his left-side knight over the row of pawns and placed it at F6, where it served no obvious purpose but to dissuade Singed from progressing from two angles.
"To cover all our bases, to watch, to learn." He sat back in his chair and interlaced his fingers over his golden breastplate. Beatrice re-positioned herself upon her perch, her talons click-click-clicking over metal. "This is our role."

“Yes to cover all the bases and keep a strong control over the mid squares those are the bases of the game.” He said leaning a little forward studding the position of the pieces since the beginning of the game could make the difference at the level those two men were playing. Singed then moved his queens Bishop menacing the black Knight and making it so if he moved the Knight he would leave the queen unprotected. “Talking about a strong central domination I heard of a certain Exile causing disturbances and planting foolish ideologies on your people. And that’s not counting the general animosity a certain assassin has against you.”

"A naive idealist and a little lost lamb," Swain intoned in smooth dismissal of the subject, crimson eyes scanning the board. His fingers hovered briefly over the right-hand bishop, then fell upon the knight--whom he set confidently before his queen.
"All things considered, Singed. Every angle addressed." Should the Chemist's bishop take the knight it now threatened, another waited patiently behind, ready to take up its comrade's place.

“Good to hear that it would be sad to see such a monumental campaign be tripped by such small boulders.” Singed moved his kings pawn increasing his own defense reinforcing the pawns structure and preparing to increase the pressure on the center of the board. “Now it is unfunny if I am the only one to ask all the questions isn’t it? Ask away if you have any doubts on my character…though sometimes you might not like the answers. And sometime I would be almost as cryptic as you.”

Swain chuckled, scooting his right-bishop's pawn to C6, where it created a triumvirate of protection around the black army's more important assets. "Am I being obtuse? Forgive me." He brought his right hand to his shoulder, stroking his familiar's graceful neck with a single gnarled finger. Beatrice cooed and shut her crimson eyes.
"What will you do with Zaun when I've given her to you? Enlighten me with your vision of the future." He offered a polite half-smile behind his shroud, his gaze lingering upon the lanky scientist for but a moment before he returned to his contemplation of the board.
Post by The Mad Chemist on Mar 10, 2013 23:11:18 GMT -5
“Ah a wonderful question isn’t it? What do I plan to do with Zaun. I am the type that believes that only after experiencing pain and great suffering one can achieve the unachievable. Forgive me I am to blunt with the answer but I simply enjoy the question too much.” He said showing the glimmer of madness on his eyes like he hadn’t ever showed before in any of their previous encounters or conversations he was actually enjoying exposing his point of view and was talking like a Noxian teenager would talk about their favorite weapon. Or a Zaunite one would talk about their favorite book or musical band. “The type of place that I want to create s the exact opposite of the stupid hedonistic Utopias that the old reformers imagined. A world of fear and treachery and torment, a world of trampling and being trampled upon, a world which will grow not less but more merciless as it refines itself”. “A place where only the strong and useful survive and everything else is disposed of like the waste it is. That is the world I want to create.” He ended his speech and placed the king’s knight on place in order to pressure the center. “Now let’s compare the game with life I know who your most valuable piece is your “queen” but I haven’t the pleasure to tread her on person outside the field what type of person is she?”
Post by The Master Tactician on Mar 10, 2013 23:24:31 GMT -5
"Ah, yes, the strong survive." Red eyes mirrored the glimmer in the scientist's yellow. "That is the way of things, isn't it?" The Grand General seemed pleased with this answer, but upon the second topic quirked a brow. "Queen is somewhat a derogatory term in this case, implying one has inherited status rather than earned it by merit."
Swain's burning gaze fell to the board once more. The king's knight posed little immediate threat to the rest of the arrangement, though it could maneuver itself into an advantage if allowed to do so. As though to make a point, he plucked the black queen from her spot at the king's side and placed it firmly at A5, remarking, "There is something to be said for a piece that can go anywhere, do anything, be anyone." The move was bold, perhaps, placing the Chemist's queen's-side knight in immediate peril, but leaving the black king to his own devices. "She is a lady of mystery--and would prefer to remain that way." He allowed himself a one-note chuckle. "Part of her charm."

“Derogatory…I haven’t thought of it that way and here I thought it only reflected her power…political and arcane.” He said moving his king’s knight to d2 increasing his defense from the left side and menacing to position itself on a place where it could take the queen from her blind spot. “The knights are the only pieces that can attack the queen even without help thanks to the peculiar way they move.”“Some would even call them wildcards you have plenty of them it seems.”
