As the music plays, Teo can't help but close his eyes and bob his head along with the music. Behind the biscuit, a faint smile has grown, though it goes away quickly when Yoshi addresses him. The question catches the little yordle by surprised and he gasps, tensing up. Soon, after a few breaths, the young bard calms himself and nods, his smile still there but weak.
"Hey. How about this," Yoshi offers up his proposal to Teo. "In about two months or so, my band will play in the town square in Bandle City. How about you come by and watch? I'll be happy if you come."
A gathering in the city? Socialization? Being around a large group of people? It was all a lot to take in. Sure, the little yordle had gone to the city a few times perform for food, but nothing like this. Looking down at his ragged and torn clothing, a shiver goes through his body.
"I-I don't know... the city is... b-busy... and... I have no money. Or clothes..."
He rummages through his thoughts to find if he has any clothes he could remember that can fit the little Teo. But all of his members are adults. Teo...may not fit in any size...
"Well...you can..."
That thought won't work at all. Maybe the little guy needs some form of gratitude.
"Ah! Don't worry about the clothes, Teo. You just need to worry about going to the concert. Leave the clothes to me."
Teo grumbles to himself, not liking the idea of making someone else do things for him. However, arguing is also not exactly in his nature and he sighs in defeat.
"O-okay... I guess I'll go to the concert then."
He nervously scratches his arm with the end of his flute, still worried about going to the city in such a large crowd.
"Perfect!" Yoshi exclaims as he jumps up to his feet. The music is already over and people are finishing their breakfast. Others are ready to pack for the long day journey ahead. Yoshi looks at the crowd for a moment, then turns back to Teo with a melancholic look in his face. He can't just leave Teo there in the forest...alone...and with no companion or parent...
"Teo...I...um...are you comfy living in the forest...?"
Teo blinks. Several times, actually. This was a question he wasn't sure how to answer. Sure, he loves being in the forest, but it can be quite dangerous at times and not very comfortable. However... he doesn't want to be a burden on this band of yordles. That just won't do.
He attempts to give Yoshi a small smile and nod.
"W-well... of course I do. I've been out here for a long time now... i-it's gotten pretty comfy. W-why?"
"What... kind? U-um... well, I don't really know. I just... play."
Teo scratches his head nervously, eying the the flute in his other hand. He'd never really thought about it before, but what kind of music DID he know? Everything he played simply came from the heart... or so he thinks.
Yoshi asks politely while he presents Teo a crowd of musicians anticipating him to play. They heard of rumors of music flowing through the forest but the musicians never thought it would be a little kid. Now they're interested in his musical pieces.
Teo looks up, suddenly noticing that everyone's eyes are on him. He pulls up his knees and grips his flute tightly. Did they... really want to hear him? It wouldn't be very kind to deny an offer. All they wanted was one song, right?
"U-u-um... uh, o-okay..."
He takes a few moments to think, as well as take a few breaths. It was hard to think of something to play that would please the crowd. From listening earlier, he had to guess that maybe they enjoyed faster songs. Maybe a shanty of sorts would do. The little yordle takes one more deep breath before standing up and putting his lips to the instrument. However...
The music starts the moment he drums his fingers on the flute, almost as if the invisible string instrument were his warm up before the melody chimed in. The music swirled from the end of his flute, filling the ears and minds of those who chose to listen. Soon Teo is swaying his body to the music, and suddenly a most peculiar thing happens. He is still moving his fingers and blowing into the instrument, but it sounds much more like a string instrument than a flute. Behind the crowd stood a mirage of another Teo playing a viola, followed shortly after by another with a violin sitting off to the side to make it a duet. All three of the Teo's hop up from their locations and swerve this way and that, spinning lazily through the crowd as if forming some kind of hypnotic dance. Another Teo appears sitting in the corner with a large drum, and another by the buffet table with a bagpipe. A trio of little yordles is sitting where the original was, playing a section of low string instruments. In a few more moments there'd be a Teo for every instrument being heard, sitting or standing and playing in various locations. Of course, these are merely illusions, but they certainly look and sound quite real. As the music finally starts to die away, the Teo with the flute spirals his way back to his seat, several of the illusions fizzling away with the music, save the one on the harp and the string section, who don't fade until the very end. When the song is over, Teo is snuggled up in Yoshi's lap with the flute in playing position.
The shocked members of the swing band immediately stand up as the illusionary Teo's appear and surround the swing band, playing their melody and instrument with ease and harmony. Some of the members couldn't tell which one is the real Teo. Others are too stunned by the beautiful serenade filling the camp right now.
Once the little musician finishes his magical piece, Yoshi finds himself with a Teo in his lap, curling like a child with his instrument still in his piece. The illusions disappear and the members of the band take one quick look at each other to see their stunned and amazed faces. The area stood in silence as Yoshi rubs Teo gently.
Teo opens his eyes slowly, fairly tired with the amount of magic he'd just used. He rests his head against Yoshi's shoulder, little nose twitching occasionally. If one would look closely, they might notice his stare going off to nowhere, as if he is half asleep.
Yoshi slowly guides him to his sitting position while rubbing his back to ease him. That was powerful magic Yoshi witnessed and he couldn't believe that Teo wasted much of his energy on that one beautiful song.
"It was beautiful, Teo," Yoshi whispers quietly to his ear. The rest of the awed band did not speak or stir.
Teo closes his eyes, breathing slowly and softly as his back is rubbed. The kind words make him smile. Unfortunately, the smile doesn't last long, for when he tries to move a sharp pain goes through him and his eyes go wide, then wince. He'd used up much more magic than he's used to in this short period of time, and it was taking its toll. The young yordle's body completely tenses for a moment, and then goes limp, falling forward and to the side. Little Teo is need of some rest now.
