Victus walked down the city streets of Piltover, his black plate drawing a few cursory glances from the locals. No one felt threatened. Why should they? Caitlynn, Jayce, and Vi walked the streets, so there was next to no crime in the city. Even the sewers were cleaned of vermin.
Victus felt...off. Everytime he came to Piltover, he felt the cleanliness stifle his barbarian senses. Victus felt that everyone's calm demeanor was false comfort. In Demacia, everyone was vigilant for crime and Noxian spies. Here....the Zaunites rarely came on the matter of principle that their science was better. The Piltoverians felt similarly and thus the cities waged war in secret labs, creating their own proof that their science was the greater of the two. While scientific battle might interest the inhabitants of the Northeast, Victus and most other Freljordians couldn't care less. The science of the West was no use to those without means to collect it.
Normally, Victus would avoid the city, but he had started feeling the bottom of his pouch and needed gold. A bounty in Demacia had lead Victus to Piltover. It was a long trip, but with the money this good, it was worth it. Not saying Victus was greedy, but he needed to profit off of his bounties or he would be in debt. Barbarians view debt sourly. Victus did everything in his power not to be indebted to someone else and not break his code.
The target was Rebecca Silverheart, foster daughter of a noble house of Demacia. She had been adopted after her parents died on the roads at an early age. Who they were remains unknown, but by the age of 17, she had turned to thievery. She had been caught attempting to steal from the Brightblade house and was thought to be involved with others, such as the theft of some Kalamandian crystals from the Crownguards. Her family had promptly disowned her and asked the Brightblades to aid in her capture, to which Victus only asked to be paid.
Why would Rebecca steal? Not Victus's concern. She was guilty and needed captured and brought to Demacia.
Victus went to the Eye-sore Technician's Tavern near the gate. The tavern had been made to host the scientists until the Academy built the dorms. Now it held those fresh to the city. A good place to start to hunt a fugitive.
The innkeeper was a portly yordle fellow, nicknamed 'Dictionary' for his photographic memory. While most yordles had high pitched squeaky voices, Dictionary had a almost human sounding one. His fur was a greying brown, but the Yordle still had the energy of his younger kin, if not the ability to run as fast as they think. Dictionary waved at Victus happily upon the knight's entrance, and Victus indicated he wanted a drink with his raised hand as he walked to the bar. He found a warm mead waiting for him. Dictionary lived up to his name yet again. He removed his helm and took a long drink, washing the dust of the road from his throat.
"Victus Brightblade. Long time, no see. What brings you back to civilization? Work, I assume." Dictionary politely asked while drying a glass with a towel.
"You would assume correctly. I'm looking for an Ionian woman. She is mid-to-late teens and dark haired. She might look poor. She is alone and wary." Victus replied with little emotion besides the urge to get out of the city.
"Bounty or rescue? Nevermind, I don't want to know. The girl I think your talking about was a kind one, if a bit shy. Penniless, so I was about to give her food, but she ran off into the Factory District when a gentleman I have never seen in a bunch of furs came in. The gentleman wasn't friendly looking and I couldn't hide her departure from him. He followed her swiftly."
"I will expect trouble then. Did you call for the watch?"
"No...she has been gone only a few minutes." Victus downed his mead hurriedly and dropped gold on the counter. "Do take care Victus! That girl seemed the sort we don't need cleaved in two!" Dictionary shouted as Victus replaced his helm and went out the door.
Victus ran to the Factory District as fast as he could. His ears began to hunt for the noises of chase and his eyes hunted for fleeting images of running people. He was slow, but he made up for it with endurance. He was so close. He would not lose her now.
The Factory District. What was there to this place? Lots of buildings, back roads and alleyways. But despite it's clutter, it was a clean area like most of the city. Fueled off of wind? Perhaps water? Something resourceful none the less. The cities less populated area, however, making it an ideal place to chase prey and be done with what needs be.
Among the buildings, a slender woman would dart in and out of shadows as she fled from one specific predator. Her Ionian features were undeniable as she'd leap up and grasp the edge of a fence to climb her way over it with ease, utilizing her free running skills effectively to try to make her escape from the hunter. However she would find herself in a predicament as she stopped at a dead end completely surrounded by three large walls. She'd turn, her gaze settling upon the man in layers of fur as he'd draw a large scimitar from his side.
"Brat." He said, drawing in a deep breath from a cigar that hung from his lips, "Y'learn the hard way how t'steel proper-like. Now y'learn the hard way what happens when y'take someth'n that don't belong to ya."
Mai turned and stood her ground, her eyes narrowing upon the man as she withdrew an origami tiger from the confines of her kimono. A glint in her eyes, readying for the fight to come.

A fight was coming, but not the way Mai had thought.
The only reason he had caught up to her was by the stunned passerby and a brief glimpse of a heavily furred man leaping over a fence. They would hear the sounds of crashing steel as Victus drew nearer. Right before the fence, Victus let out a howl and lowered his head. The fence she had jumped over exploded into shrapnel as Victus charged through it. He was unscathed due to his heavy platemail, but his adrenaline was burning through his system.
Victus analyzed the scene quickly. His target was here and she was trapped, but this thug stood in his way. He would not stand there for much longer.
"Begone, knave! The woman comes with me." Victus announced and he drew his blade to make his intentions clear to those who sought to get in his way.
In one part not too far off in the Factory District stood a man in a black trench coat and hood and another older man, the latter was obviously lower on the ladder. He continued speaking, slowly. "Yes... I saw some older man chasing down a younger woman, I couldn't tell who was the victim but.." He was quickly interrupted by the other man. "Where did they go?" The older man pointed towards the fence. "Beyond that fence." The man in black smiled and nodded, reaching into his pocket and setting a few coins into his hand. "Thanks friend." He turns and reaches into his coat, pulling out a mask and setting it on his face. He then plugs the wires going to his wrist-pad into the mask, and the software boots up.
Another day for John Cole, he hastily made his way towards the fence. When he saw another man heading in that direction. He was slightly intimidated by his size and armor. But he wasn't just going to engage, not without learning more. John's movements slowed as he headed in that direction, watching as the gigantic tin can basically went right through the fence. It was definitely now obvious he should approach with caution.
He came upon the fence and walked right through it without any real issues. Being that it did have a sizable hole in it. He spotted a decent and dark enough spot nearby a dumpster and quickly ducked down behind it. He pulled out a small mirror on a handle and watched the scene, crouched down and remaining silent.
As another appeared, she'd throw down the tiger in front of her causing a snow-white tiger to appear. It's roar echoed crisply down the narrow length of the dead end and seemed to shake the very foundation they stood upon. Its hackles raised with teeth bared ready to defend the much smaller woman now behind it.
"I'm not going with anyone!" Mai said stubbornly as she reached for something else hidden within the edge of her kimono.
The thug turned just slightly to regard the armored man with a look of rage beginning to fill his features, "Like hell, pup. She goin' with me. She belongs t'us fer what she did."
"Oh go to hell." Mai sneered as the tiger readied for the fight to come.
For the moment however, the bandit appeared to recognize his greater foe would be Victis. He was trying to take his prize, which did not sit well with the thug in the slightest. "What business y'got with 'er?" He questioned in that deep, rumbling voice, "She's got debts t'pay my clan."

Telling a Freljordian to fear a beast is almost as silly as asking him to fear the cold. Victus knew tigers and while this one was magical, logic would apply to its nature of attack. As the thug whined, Victus shifted his focus between the girl, tiger, and the thug. Likely, the tiger would protect its master...so as long as he held ground, she should not be able to leave. The thug would be first problem to deal with.
"She is wanted for crimes older than that and by those more powerful than whatever clan you follow. I am oathbound to bring her to Demacia. If that means over your dead body, then I will. So, I give you one final warning. After that, I will leave you bleeding in the street and take my quarry to answer for her crimes in Demacia."
Victus brought his blade up in both hands. Under his helm, his mind was slowly shifting into a combat ready state of Freljord, Rage and immunity to pain.
John continued to crouch behind the dumpster, just observing. He still had no clue what was going on, and then the tiger appears. Things were getting crazier faster then he expected. The mirror continued to be held in place, as he sat and waited. He for sure didn't want to even attempt to engage the big guy in the armor. Living was pretty high on his list and so for now he sits and watches.
The large, fur covered man would turn towards Victus, the saber wielded easily at his side with a hint of a fang bared with a scowl, "Older? Fer years the brat 'as been a thorn in our sides. Jes' mind yer own business, tin can." His frame was large, and strong. That of a hunter. Someone you'd likely expect to see stomping through the harshest terrain in the world. His eyes were a piercing gold, akin to those of the pelts he wore.
Mai watched as the two started to confront one another. She'd flick her gaze about quickly, hopping atop the tiger's back suddenly as it started to run trying to rush passed the two men and make her escape. If Victus wanted her, he'd have to fight the brute that stood before him.

The tiger was charging and the thug stood between Victus and blocking the beast's path. He showed no signs of moving and had ignored his warning.
"So be it."
Victus quickly spun, gaining momentum for a slash that sailed from his lower left to his upper right. Victus planned on the fight ending quickly and moving on his capturing of his target and confirming her identity.
Cole then saw his chance, the tiger dashed passed the two and him. He quickly folded his mirror and pocketed it. He quietly stood and glanced back, hoping he could make it out without being spotted. Breaking into a run he rushed back to the fence. He had to find out more about what was going on exactly. He took another glance behind him as his feet hit the ground, a grin forming as he tried to keep up with... A tiger. Obviously most likely not going to happen, but at least keeping track should be easy enough.
As Victus's blade hit the large, curved one within the man's grip, sparks spit out around them violently. What he thought would be one hit, proved to be a serious miscalculation as Victus would find the brute to be much more challenging then originally expected. His muscles rippled tightly as he pushed back against the large sword wielded by the knight... thing? Baring a fang towards the man with gleaming eyes burning under the shadow of the headpiece he wore.
"Mind yer own damn business, merc." He growled in a deep, rumbling voice.
Meanwhile, Mai was seated on the back of the tiger as it made its way away from the two brawling men. She didn't initially take notice of the man suddenly running after her. Only when she glanced back did she spot him, her lips tugging into a deep frown. She'd lift the sparrow origami and tossed it into the air, allowing a cluster of the birds to rapidly fly directly towards John like a scene out of the movie 'Birds' but far less violent. Their only intention in this situation was to slow him down and blind him allowing her an easier get-away.

"She IS my business."
Victus's blade went down and to his right as it had been deflected, but Victus wasn't stunned by the thug's muscle. Surprised, yes. Victus would leave no loose ends to interfere. He would track her down after he finished here. His next attack was to continue his rotation and, while his blade was in no position to strike, his fist was. It went flying towards the thugs jaw.
John continued his chase, he had to find out more. Of course that was when she turned and spotted him, he knew it was a matter of time but... Where the hell did these birds come from?! His arms move in front of his face as he tries to knock the birds off of him. "Damnit all." He continued to smack them away, glad that he had a mask on. "Get away you little..." He finally breaks through after a few seconds and realizes that she has gained some considerable distance. He sighs and continues to chase after her, now of course a bit farther back.
The brute that Victus fought would feel the impact of the fist causing his head to snap to the side with a heavy grunt. The beast of a man snarled as claws erected from his fingertips trying to hook them beneath his helmet and rip it off. Should he succeed, the claws would be trying to also rake up the man's face hoping to seriously maul him. "You know NOTHING of her deeds!" He snarled viciously.
When the birds scattered, the assassin would be left to see her making distance from the fight. She'd glance back with her brow wrinkling as the man kept after her, "..the hell did I do to get three people chasing me?" she muttered to herself, clearly unheard by anyone else. Her hand rested atop the tiger's head as it started to fade and disappear before beginning to run on her feet quickly, moving around the corner to try to get out of view. Her nimble frame rapidly started to scale a pipe along a wall, trying to reach a low rooftop and take off running towards a larger building she can climb.

Victus's helm was flipped off and he received a nasty gash, but worst of all he saw the man in black chasing his target and the distance she was gaining.
He would not lose her.
Victus howled and slammed his head into the man's face and pushed him into a wall. He had enough of this one holding him from his prey. He gave her chase, not fast enough to catch her, but hopefully fast enough not to lose her.
